@stakuyi Recon stat affects your chance to roll a tactic to counter your opponents tactic. This ONLY works on defence in Hoi4 because the way the game processes tactics is the attacker rolls for a tactic then the defender rolls for a tactic. If the attacker has a high recon stat, they can't counter a tactic that hasn't been rolled yet so recon ONLY works on defence.

If I may make a (heavily biased) recommendation, may I suggest you play Tobuck? It's got a hard start trying to beat Chiropterra pretty much on its own, but your options for paths range from batpony Peron to a white russian general; so I'd say give it a go. It's tough, but definitely a fun campaign. I personally recommend giving one of the aforementioned warlords a go instead of Vasile (pick their relevant mutually exclusive focuses in the starting tree, all three are enjoyable). As for the bias; that would be because I wrote most of the 160k+ words in there. Enjoy!

For another country where you basically build up a character through focuses, there's the Kingdom of Vedina in the Northwest. Where you essentially build up the Princess and have to decide on her suitors etc.

Old World Blues has an old sub mod that adds the Enclave (Mod's called Enclave Reborn) which you can choose your leader's traits. Which do lead to certain focuses and events having different choices to make. You can either go full fanatic Enclave (Only human everyone else shall die) or try something else. The "else" option has you either reclaiming the entire US as your own. Or making a ceasefire with the NCR to go a make Nevada instead. Very fun either way. IMO, The non-fanatical choices are much more thought out and better to play.

Barrad has... several endings depending on how many survives, and who ends up in charge of Barrad. They also have a "Friend/Rivalry" system between the leaders of the country. In this game Silver Star ended up as Leader and became the Lich King, raising an undead horde.

hey, you should play as Albania in Kaiserredux and go down the King Zog path. You can then annex Brazil for free and get a lot of manpower. Definitely a fun playtrough.

To add also on the criticisms, I hope when they rework them - theyll add a returning to Equus mechanic where they go and take back Olenia from whichever power annexed them. Also for raiding, it would be good to be able to raid the coastal tiles of the northern riverlands nations (Bakara especially since they have a navy specifically because of pirate raids) but I guess that might be a bit difficult to do.
