Great videos! It's weird to have hated school so much, only to spend adulthood watching a full course worth of lectures in a week...

How could Stalin learn from Hitler in the early 20s? By the time Hitler came to power or killed anyone, Stalin had long since established himself as the dictator of The SU.

Daniel I would gladly attend your class lectures if I could just on my off days, you really have a great approach to teaching this subject. Such a well rounded historical overview with all those little known facts you throw in make great evenings for me. Thank You!!! PS: Absolutely hilarious, I love the accents lol! Keep it up!! Who'd have thought David Letterman knew so much about Stalin. I enjoyed this lecture despite the squeaky chairs.

Very interesting lecture. In [26:55s] you are taking about Other Victims of the Great Terror, among the others 111,091 Polish victims. They were members of Soviet Communist party with polish origins. Because of history there was a quite large population of polish minority in Soviet Union. Lots of communist had a different than Russians origins; Stalin was Georgian, Dzerzhinsky, the head of the Cheka had polish origin. Because in Soviet Communist Party were lots of members with polish origins Stalin was paranoid that some day Polish communist will take control over the party, so he ordered expurgation. 1934-1938

Very well structured and informative lecture, I've learned new thing by watching. I assume, by posting videos online the author may be expecting some critical feedback. Well, here it is - please, don't say anything with fake russian accent, because it sounds terrible :)

great lecture, but the audio quality is annoyingly poor, the sound of chairs creeking throughout is distracting to say the least. good well rounded overview of stalins rise to power.

This was quite heavy to sit through I must admit. It sickens me to think people still support communism, let alone the ideas of Lenin and Stalin.
