Yeah but because it was X-ray, and because it was a proper PC game.. we could fix a lot of that.. The in-game files had some of the best notation that I've ever seen out of a game script.. like it took me 5 minutes to knock off the most annoying things after I started up the game, and just opened the door to so much more. That's not how unreal works, and at best it looks like we're going to have to do configuration edits just to do the settings because they couldn't even add a developers console, and that's just a box that they have to check.. they didn't even bother checking the box? That's a bad sign. True we never got proper mod support, but the game was so happy to be configured that a lot of things could just be solved or adjusted etc.. The systems on systems were there to play with.. you kind of needed to play with them like they wanted to be played with. And they said they have like the ideas of mod support and all that and that's all cool.. especially for an unreal game, and the only other example I can think of where someone actually properly followed through with that in recent years was off world with squad.. a game made from a mod, by modders, in iteration for a decade about now.. Guess the insurgency guys as well, same story mind you lol.. The only reason we got stalker mods, aside from the extremely awesome and accessible scripting systems in the original game.. is like the only reason we actually got real mods, aside from things that were already there that were brought out.. like real mods is because they rebuilt the engine from the ground up.. And if it's something like black Mesa where they just have a map editor that was already there and they don't actually put the effort into letting you do proper system adjustments, let alone code to fix some of these problems.. it's a bad sign and unreal is just not an engine that has a track record for developers using it that end up doing that.. and when you looked at the menu and you saw the exact default options for the graphics that you see in every unreal game pretty much.. with like 15 different settings grouped into a single low medium high that often are completely independent of each other in terms of performance and quality effect that they have? That's not a good sign. The thing about buggy games like stalker, or just interesting games that are usually a little bit buggy because they're doing interesting things.. they used to come with the sweet of things that you could do in the game code as things you could do... Like it wasn't even a point of controversy it was just you know.. advanced tweaking as the old tweak guides used to say, (sad about that guy.. Hope he does better with humans I guess..) Even with cyberpunk, before all the script engines and whatnot, and the official mod support.. because it was such a open thing, and it wasn't trying to intentionally necessarily obfuscate it's systems, we had things like the devs have been working on and never integrated, now to play with.. systems that didn't work for the console crowds etc or whatever.. now we can play with it, or they didn't have time to test etc.. stalker was like one of the prime examples of that back in the day with x-ray. I was genuinely worried, this was going to be a game made for work the modern generation essentially.. and I'm not entirely right about that, and I'm happy about that.. But I'm really not entirely wrong either in some of the worst ways that would have made it totally fine, if it had been.. flipped around.. because then I could fix it or I could change it to become a game for a PC for PC people that actually are trying to immerse themselves in the systems and participate in what used to be a regularly two-way interaction between game developers and game players in pushing things forward. Stalker two has this feeling like it's a product, it's got the giant micro transaction bundle with the cheat code loot stashes and all that stuff.. it's configuration settings are like beyond patronizing the way they are set up in the default unreal it doesn't even have a developers console. But it's also trying to be a stalker game and it's buggy and it's got systems and.. again that was okay back then because if we needed to fix something it was not a big deal like it took me 5 minutes like I said five actual minutes to fix a whole slew of problems that would have probably kept me from playing the game if I hadn't the ability to change them. Back in the day. As far as the modern game reviewers and the modern gamers, well they're modern gamers, you're right they were never going to understand this.. and that's the world we live in.. until we fix it or it gets worse and every game has one time use cheat codes that you can buy like Ubisoft.. or stalker too where you can pay an extra 20 bucks to skip some of the harsh grind.. I'm not holding it to them like I would some other companies because of their situation.. like going about it that way is kind of the worst way to go about it.. like if you recall remember when they were going to have NFTs at one point? Lol.. and if it hadn't been phrased that way I probably would have paid the extra money just to support the The company, but you had to phrase it in a way as a thing that is actively destroying the industry that are loved that it's already dead, and just rotting on the pavement.. and someone asking hey, you know you'll run a lot faster with the deluxe ultimate composting worms.. you'll have to pay a pretty penny.. you know if you want to get the full amount.. I would probably buy a new hardware accelerator to try to like speed up the process as well, cuz it's going to be a junk fest with these worms they kind of work.. But as long as you keep it up eventually there will be nothing left.. And this is coming from One of the better studios, who are trying, even if they don't understand that making games this way, is genuinely a death sentence to The very things that thought that embracing the modern practices would allow them to achieve. But then the flip side of that is, I don't know if there's a future regardless had they not, because it's already dead, like I said rotting on the pavement.. so I guess in this case it's more like My kingdom for a jug of formaldehyde to try and stick around a little bit longer..

if its like what people are saying, that there currently is no A-Life system in the game, then it was not worth the wait, because then it can not be considered a proper stalker game. currently downloading so we'll see. but the A-life system is what made the other games so unique compared to other games. for those that don't know the A-Life system in the stalker games was a persistent AI system. even if you could not see a NPC on the other side of the map, that NPC was still being simulated in the background, it was not being rendered. but it was being simulated. there are very few scripted events in the original stalker games when you are in the open world. NPC squads of all factions are moving around the open world, they have the same needs as player characters in terms of food and water, they can trade with each other. so to fulfill their needs, they would go looking for food, or ways to make money, they would even attempt to hunt artifacts (they would die most times, but its besides the point) packs of mutant dogs would roam around hunting for food. this caused encounters to be very dynamic. as you could run into NPC's who were in the middle of a patrol, or scavving a location, or running from a pack of mutants. you could walk into a location, find a group of friendly scavs, and think this is a good place to stay during the night, and then you'd wake up in the middle of a gunfight because another group of hostile NPC's on a patrol, are now fighting the friendly scavs you were hanging out with. and it would not be just a scripted encounter that got spawned in when the player moved into a trigger box, they were fully dynamic encounters. there are allot of videos that show, and allot of people saying this system is completely absent in STALKER 2. and that lots of evens seem to be just scripted events that spawn in when the player comes within a certain distance. this is really sad.
@WVRLORD26 күн бұрын
Yea other than lackluster stealth, this is one of my main issues. There’s a lot of times that mutants or NPCs just randomly spawn in an area near you once you move a bit away populating an area absolutely nobody was nearby or emptying a previously populated place with seemingly no trace. You can tell they tryed to have that experience simulated with alot of wandering packs of creatures and stalkers, but there is a lack of depth and immersion especially with the AI at times.

GSC employees have said before and after release that A-Life 2.0 exists in STALKER 2. Now, they don't actually describe what A-Life 2.0's objective is and how it works, so I'm not sure if the offline AI is just bugged in some way or if that was left out of this game. It is very possible that the offline simulation of NPCs doesn't exist, or it could be that it's bugged and needs to be patched. Hopefully the latter, because I agree that it was the best part of the other STALKER games.

Stalker franchise was so beloved because of it atmosphere and music. The vast immersion from just stopping and watching the wind blow the grass in front of you as life goes on around you was what made stalker games what they are. It was never the stories written by the developers the enjoyment you would get from just walking through the zone and avoiding death. Feeling that vulnerability while managing your inventory. It was just the graphics and the immersion that ever really made stalker what it is. Taking fast travel out of the game is arguably the best thing the developers did to keep that immersion. And they shouldn’t apologize for that. Mods can do whatever they want to make this game the way they want it, but the developers made this game exactly what it is, stalker2 and the graphics and sound quality of this game is among the top best in my opinion. There are graphical issues at this time, but I really don’t have any complaints for this game and its gameplay elements and how it’s crafted. For me, this is exactly what I wanted nothing more and nothing less. Once the bugs are fixed, and the performance is improved, it will be even better. I am playing on high-end hardware for a laptop and I haven’t had any immersion breaking bugs or crashes yet with approximately 18 to 20 hours in the game already. So I can’t speak for everyone in their experiences, but mine has been honestly phenomenal for a game of this scale. I kind of expected worse performance, but even the biggest developers have made Games far worse performing day one. One particular bug that I can get is on my AMD processor, the game will randomly start using a different CCD and spread the load improperly on my 16 core Ryzen 9. This would create the game to get really bad stutters and hitching but only after a very long play. Period it happens. A quick restart of the game and it’s back to normal. It tends to do this if I load to save after a long play through.

I couldn't care less about the technical issues, since most of these reviews are based off of the pre release build and the day 1 patch should fix most, either ways i dont mind bugs, and performance issues, how fun is the game? Ill be playing it this weekend, so wanna know, cause most of these reviews only seem to copy paste each other
@dragonborn440526 күн бұрын
personal opinion here 1) the story people complain about isnt a valid complaint to me, i feel the story isnt god tier but its decent at the very least 2) game runs smooth, good animations and good conversation system 3) gunplay as short to mid ranges is fun, but for longer ranges it gets a little finicky, at least on an xbox controller, probably not an issue for MnK, i advise reconfiguring some settings to how you like them overall, i can see myself sinking a good many hours into stalker 2

Im enjoying the game so far. I have about 6 hours. Im playing on the mid difficulty, I think the encumbrance in this game is great. Its not realistic for a person to have a backpack with 7 pistols 2 shotguns, 3 rifles, and an abundance of ammo for each on top of your equipped items. Theres a reason nearly every stalker stash you find on the map has a description relating to "I have too much stuff ill come back for some of it later." Theres a stash box in the first village you find. Only take what you need before you go out. Store the rest. Don't bring all your ammo with you, you will find more. It adds realism that so many games have been seriously lacking.

The intel CPU thing isn't a game bug, its your CPU failing. Big controversy regarding 13th and 14th gen CPU's literally overvolting themselves to death, and the shader compilation failure is an early sign of it happening.

Funny how my potato PC did not see any of the performance issues mentioned - first world country problems with top end gear I guess. The stealth is present and workable, although you get a silencer pretty soon into the game so killing someone with a knife becomes obsolete real fast. One thing to note however is that there's a lot of clutter in buildings (like empty beer bottles etc) which produce a bunch of noise and alert enemies (yes, even through walls. That's how noise works folks). So most stealth kills are made in the forests where you can sneak up on enemies (because everyone knows forest running is always 100% silent). Enemies spawning just around the corner is a great annoyance, hope A-life goes online in a patch soon.

I'm playing on the middle difficulty, on the Xbox series x. I've noticed a few AI issues (the fire side chats not working, or some scripted combats between npcs not doing anything if I ran for cover lol) Mutant AI didn't just charge directly at me, I've had packs of dogs swarm, take turns, or come at me from all sides so if I killed one infront of me there was another behind me. It's interesting so far, and I'm enjoying it.

Death Standing is one of those games where you just got to stick with it until Chapter 3, I think it was. When it came out on PC and I was reading the steam reviews, there were a lot of negative reviews, but then there were also a lot of "just stick with it until chapter 3." So, I did and sure enough, I was like, "I get it." Not the plot. I'm still not sure I get the plot even though it was entertaining, but I got why people enjoyed the game.

These reviews reflect how the games industry has deteriorated since 2007... A lot of the negatives they list here are things that made the original trilogy so great, and things that were praised back in the day. These are things that made the series as legendary as it has become. Mainstream gaming scene is the death of creativity in the industry...

The true strength of this release is the modding community and what they might achieve with the new updated engine and ressources in the years to come. I for one know watching made me feel like playing. Not the new release, all though that too would be a blast. No, it made me feel like playing the Anomaly or GAMMA mods, the utmost cream of the crop after 16-17 years of modding the original game assets.

In stalker there aren't good or bad reactions. The reason everyone is there is because they broke in to make money. They eliminate the morality question with the setting. This obsession with beautiful graphics caused the devs to push Unreal further than it was designed to be pushed. Never mind the fact that it cannot, and never has been able to 'do' open world games. It's gotten to the stage that Unreal devs just bung a ton of graphical and game features into the engine and hope that DLSS will make it playable.
