I've had the issue where guns just appear in my inventory and equipped. It's super annoying when you don't realize it and get into a conflict to find out your gun is now a busted shotgun with 1 shell. Loving the game and looking forward to patches.

As someone who was there in the elden times for the release of the first one, it was exactly like this. Broken beyond belief and took two years to kinda sorta but not really stabilize, before the mods did the rest. My first couple of mods to make it more S.T.A.L.K.E.R for me, was longer Daytime, Mutants drop Parts that one can sell, less weapon and Armor degrade and less cost for repair those.

I haven't played the original in a long time, but I recall mutants being very similar there - a danger and a drain on resources, not something you seek out to kill, because the rewards were minimal. Balance issues aside, I think that's how it should be, I wouldn't want Stalker to become a monster hunting game.

I would never have bought the game Day One... But it's Stalker. One of my favorite game of all time. I've played hundred of hours, with the incredibles community and mods (GAMMA especially). Furthermore, the conditions in which the game was done is extraordinary :it's a miracle this game was released at all What I see, now is that when the mods tools are going to be release, the modders are goind to make miracle with this base. I'm going to play Stalker 2 for years.

I bought the Ultimate Edition to help support the devs. The game definitely has rough edges, but considering what they have been through to build this game I can cut it a lot of slack. It's a great game even with all the issues, that's a testament to how good the foundation is. Once they get it patched up it will be something special.

Anyone who has not played Stalker Anomaly should give it a try while waiting for Stalker 2. It's totally free - I don't believe you need any of the first three games. It ties the three games together. Story is bad, but the survival aspects are great. One of my favorite games of all time. It's not the only mod of course, it's just one of the easiest to set up.

I've played a lot of Stalker G.A.M.M.A and unfortunately I cannot stop comparing the two. The feeling of everything being a major risk when venturing into the zone and especially further north, makes progression feel extremely important. Together with the rarity of resources and epic AI, I just can't help feel that that playstyle for stalker 2 would have been the true experience, even though G.A.M.M.A is a modpack. As always a great video, keep it up🎉

There's a mod on the nexus called No Shader Warmup that lets you skip that. You don't need to install any mod loader or anything, just drop it into the game files. 11/10, would've refunded without it

I do understand from a gameplay perspective why it's unfortunate that fighting mutants is not worth it as they do not loot much... but it's the most logical thing there is. Avoiding the usual "dang, this wolf is carrying tons of gold around for no logical reason" is in my opinion good for the immersion... but you're right that it might be interesting to be able to still get loot from them that could be sold even if not usable directly.

I'm at 48 hours and 12 minutes. The game needs work but it's far from "unplayable" or whatever they say. The foundation is already incredible. With A-Life 2.0 in full effect, QOL and balancing patches this will be a must have game. The story and the cutscenes exceed my expectations by far. Although the characters are a bit overwhelming. I have a hard time to follow all the characters and their motives when there are new being introduced with every mission. Sometimes multiple in one cutscene. Then there are the names. Krushnikow, Kurishov, Kitchiko, Kachenko,... You get the idea. They all sound similar. I don't know if this was necessary for the story to work. But it's too much for me and I often can't follow.

The mutants not exploding into loot thing is a plus point, not a negative. You shouldn't want to get into fights with the monsters, they're only to be engaged with as a desperate necessity - something to be survived, not sought out for loot. That's what the game is trying to communicate about its world. They do need to reduce the sponginess of the mutants though, and imo the attack pattern of the one that goes invisible rapidly become just annoying rather than fun, so I'm hoping we see a mod to change the cloaking/run away attack to be something it does once or twice a fight rather than over and over again. Re bugs, this game was developed in a war zone by people fighting and dying to preserve their freedom from a fascist dictatorship. That earns them a huge amount of lee-way from me in terms of the game being buggy.

​@@One_Inch_Punch_Pow nah, crashes were all abroad. As was it on my 4070S, which is 'just' above the recommended 4070. I did look up this video with every settings benchmarks and its just better to lower some settings from Epic to High, which then gives better graphics and runs it better strangely enough... oddly enough these crashes started for me after like 3-4 days of playtime, not before, which begs the question of the optimzation of those higher settings.

I am certainly interested in this title, it looks a bit like Fallout4 on acid. I think my gfx card and processor would probably benefit from being upgraded first. From a playability point of view, those bloodsuckers and chimeras would annoy the hell out of me, if I have a shotgun loaded with slug I want to see my opponent gibbed, not shrug it off, go invisible and attack me from a different angle and be able to do this N+1 times till it falls over. Beat it myself with about 70 hours played, definitely enjoyed it as a big fan, but I agree in not recommending it until we’re at least a few more patches deep. The Main Story blockers were unacceptable (circumvented through simply taking the L on certain side things that I wanted to do, and brute force by way of reloading), but hopefully gone soon. A-life will also make it easier to recommend, and I’ll replay it whenever that patch drops. Great game but it needed another month or two in the oven, but I would not be surprised if Big Daddy Microsoft said no to any further delays.

But this is supposed to be a kind of a survival game so you should try to avoid mutants when you can. How would you like to be rewarded for killing them? What useful stuff would they drop if they existed? I think it makes sense that you get gear from humans only. The reward for killing monsters is that you're still alive and you got a tiny bit better in killing monsters.

I hope GAMMA modpack dev can make something similar in this game. I still love these series though, I hope they don't stop developing the game.

I was enjoying it, quite a bit.. until it got to a point where most of my time was spent running across the huge map, to waypoints that were miles apart, with little, to nothing occurring in the open world during travel. I don’t know if this was a bug, but it was too frequent to be the case. Eventually it just ran its course for me, pushing me to return to BG3 again lol. Good game still, just running constantly, with nothing happening, got a bit tedious.

As a S.T.A.L.K.E.R Veteran the biggest let down to me defenitly the lame and kinda boring A Life. I guess it will be fixed in the future. And I know its not helpful nor fair but comparing S2 to any modded or even the old games the world in S2 feels empty and rigid. Just wait and modders will this game complete and also make it hardcore.

I tried playing for about 3 hours via Game Pass and I ultimately had to uninstall. I can handle bugs for the most part but the game was actively dying on my PC to the point that I couldn't even click the pause button because my framerate had dropped into the single digits. This was an issue when going near any anomalies. Then, I revisited the main town and my PC slipped into the single frame rate dimension and just wouldn't get better. This game really seems great but until stuff like this is fixed, I'm going to have to put this one on hold.

I gotta say that the monster encounter, especially bloodsuckers are very janky imo. Bloodsuckers have the tendency to charge me and end up slightly behind me on either side, this combined with random framedrops is very frustrating. So crazy that F.E.A.R. a game that came out over 10 years ago have better gameplay and feel to supernatural foes than Stalker 2. I do this comparison cause people did the same with the first Stalker game and F.E.A.R. cause they came out a roughly a year apart if im not mistaken.
