The wild horses on the Outer Banks acting wild! Gorgeous video. Stallions fighting. The winner then leads 'his' herd away heading South. The loser stays behind and swims for a bit, then leaves and heads North all by himself. You should consider sharing it with the Corolla Wild Horse Foundation and the Currituck Visitor Bureau at the NC/VA line o show at their sites for all to enjoy.

Defeated horse be like: "Ya'll go ahead, I'm just going to wash these wounds off in the surf for a few minutes, I'll catch up later. Save me some beach grass." I bet with enough length on a longboard I could teach those horses how to surf. Hang Four hooves man, surf's up, we've got some gnarly waves today! Righteous! We have a farm in VA, I need a breeding pair of those island horses, they are so beautiful. Time to build up the population, and maintain the genetic diversity.

Amen! That was a dream of mine until last weekend. I have been searching for a property with a small stable and pastures to purchase. I had found two different places which are perfect. I don’t intend to ride,; I just wanted to provide a couple of rescues a safe home. Then I started researching horse care and learned just how ignorant I am about horses. I thought a couple of horses that had lived on beach grass and scrub would thrive in a pasture with real grass. After reading about the care and expense of keeping horses I realized my dream of providing sanctuary to a couple of rescues isn’t financially possible. The vet and farrier visits, food, and medication simply do not fit in my retirement budget. I found a volunteer organization who provide supplemental care to the Corolla wild horses and they have an “adoption” program to raise money. Having a picture of a wild horse will be as close as I get. ) :

Horse in water washing wounds. Salt water great for healing. That weird noise the horse made before he ran down the beach is actually air trapped in his sheath getting moved around by running. Both those horses suffered a big bite at the withers. Horses bite there as it is a sensitive spot. Maybe management of these horses needs to catch some of those stallions and geld them.
