I used to live in Stamford Hill before Covid lockdowns. I am an Irish woman for context. I met so many lovely people from that community. They keep to themselves but if you smile or say something politely, they open like roses in the morning sunlight. Sadly, nasty people are abusive to them but they keep moving and ignore it. I met a charming old man in the library who used to talk to me about books and give me chocolates.

I also used to live in Stamford Hill a few decades ago. Cranwich road to be precise. I am an Igbo guy from Nigeria, and I found them to be wonderful people, and to confirm what you wrote, if you are polite to them, they really do open up like roses. I never did mention to any of them that my people, the Igbos, are descendants of ancient Israelites, and as such, they're my brothers and sisters. Perhaps I should have. On a few occasions, I asked them about aspects of their culture. Little did they know they were reciting my people's culture with very slight variations. very lovely clip, I must say

A bus dropped me off there in the of the night once. Was meant to drop me at Victoria but due to some RTI we had to be dropped at Golders Green. To say I was perplexed was an understatement. Spending my entire life in a very rural town in Southwest England, I had never seen an Orthodox Jew, let alone a community of them. They didn’t bat an eyelid at me, but I was subtly gawking at them. I meant no harm, it really was just inquisitiveness more than anything. I went into a kosher bakery and got this chocolate croissant thing, wasn’t called a croissant though, don’t remember the name. It was scrumptious as hell anyway.
