What a well thought out approach to this problem. A first rate story. Written years before my birth.

Unique, yet traditional sci fi story with a surprisingly upbeat ending. Soothing narration. worth a listen.

not knowing when this was published originally I thought it was maybe the late 50s early 60s when I Google that I was amazed to see that it was first published in 1934. The mention of White sands as a place to launch off and make rockets was just sodead on as far as when rockets and where rockets will be having their first real initial impact on things. And a few atomic fusion powered spaceship wow what an insightful guy this guy was what a predictor of the future and 1934 guys and girls published in 1934 almost a hundred years ago wow this guy was something else love the story to thanks for posting this great content please excuse typos misspelled words excetera I'm legally blind using Speech-to-Text which has a mind of its own and text what it wants to sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitarist

A story written definitely of its time by Galun in 1953, He talks so often about mechanics and ray guns and even venomous bites. Great audio story though.

Is that Sgt. Friday? (sorry youngsters, you won't know the reference) This reader always reminds of the 60's TV show Dragnet's actor Jack Webb who played Sgt. Joe Friday ... "just the facts mam" LOL😋

who is the narrator?

This is a bit late and maybe not much use, but he sounds like Gregg Margarite, who narrated a lot of audio short stories on librivox.org, where you can look him up. Sadly, he died in 2012.

I wouldn't go quite that far but I do cringe when I hear this narrator. He's not my favorite by a long shot. There are some good ones, who give each character their own voice and who don't insert themselves into the story by idiosyncratic phrasing -- but this man isn't one of them.
