Some may know this but I just learned a swanky tip for embossing colored ink on dark cardstock from Marion Emberson. She has a “WOW embossing powder” channel that will blow your mind on what embossing powders can do. Anyway, on black cardstock first stamp with white ink, fry with heat tool, stamp over with your color of choice and emboss with clear. It was great ! She did an aqua color over back cardstock for an inside sentiment and it turned out great! Hope that was new to someone! Or I’m just way behind.

I've been watching her videos too! I've always hated how my white embossing powder was spotty. One thing Marion showed that really seemed to make for a smoother result on all embossing is to come in from the back to melt them.
@moemanley25792 жыл бұрын
I hope you meant dry 😆, I don't suggest frying the paper it smells bad and starts fires haha.

Thanks Cathy- I’ve always used black ink with clear embossing powder instead of black powder; I never considered white ink with white powder! Game changer!

A lint roller is great for picking up powders and glitters that go astray. I only use extra fine white to get an even coat with text, it makes a big difference and yes to avoid losing powder heat from below to start. Chunkier white powders are great for sprinkling though, your material type and quality do matter contrary to what some will say. Fran from Stampendous is the Queen of "painting" with EP's and gas all kinds of fun tips and techniques. Her Frantage line has been around almost a decade. I highly suggest swatching every EP you own and get to know how they react and work on different surfaces and with different inks 😉.

Kathy, I have been stamping since the late 1980s - early 1990s. The company that makes Versa Mark made it to be a watermark ink for stamping watermarks on medium colored card stock. They did not originally make it to be an embossing ink. The original embossing ink was called Color Box. Now the company has changed the Color Box line over to the Versa Mark Claire line. Still excellent colored embossing inks and you can use them with clear powder which doubles your ink colors.😊
@czdesign2 жыл бұрын
Ohhhh, love that history! I did not know that! So I was using it correctly back in the day! I remember Color Box as a line. I never had any of their inks but I do have a few Versafine Claire inks and they are amazing!

Very nice indeed! If any embellishments would be added, maybe blue! Those seemed to have a peach color, at least on the screen. Soon ready to try out my Lost Shadow, I’ve got a rubber background stamp that would look nice, I think. Your CZ Designs stamps are always wonderful, Cathy! 💌 🤍

So glad you tried it and you liked it. I've been using Gina's white pigment ink when I want a white heat embossing for years. She showed it once on a video and I was sold ever since. Really makes a big difference. Maybe don't press so hard when using the pressure tool and it won't be as 'thick'.

Yes, I thin I pressed too hard on it. I won't give up on Versarmark, but maybe this is the best fit for white powder on dark surfaces!

Tonics stamp cleaning tools are barnone the best for all ink types, hard to explain just take my word. The material grips and gets ink out of even my most detailed large Lavinia stamps. Then simply rinse with water and it air drys! Great stuff!

What a great idea! Here's a hack that I find incredibly helpful. If you have embossed a find image and have little areas that the embossing powder didn't stick, you can fill in the fine area with a fine tip pen (has to be one that the ink is slower in drying), apply embossing powder and heat. This works best for me with black and white embossing powder using black and white pens.

A worthwhile experiment, with surprising results. The Gina K pigment ink looks richer and seems to have more depth but, it altered the weight of the font. Did the ink spread or, was your Debbie tool the culprit? Versamark keeps the font slender and yet, the coverage is spotty (or maybe my notebook needs cleaning?). I would have never thought to use white ink with white embossing powder. I don't like any of the white inks that I have - it seems they always come off yellow-ish in appearance but, using the embossing powder would circumvent that issue. Thank you Cathy and, thank you to your followers! Now, I can put all of my white inks to use...
