@out_spocken

No-one is denying what occurred. The issue is how we move forward together. Instead of taking advantage of this horrible culture that has given the very people criticising it the ability to do so from their positions of power,..and wealth. There's ma y cultures thriving in Australia whilst still being Australia and not trying to 3l3vste themselves and their culture above 'ours'. By doing so, by continually playing the victim while so many that want to obviously can do well, all that is occurring is more division and resentment. It's ironic that Stan chose western ideals and pursuits and priorities instead of focussing on retaining and living his people's culture. Seemingly western culture has more to offer.

Stan had no choice ... he couldn't just sit by, bow his head and marvel at the spectacle of the coronation. I get it. Initially, when I heard about his departure from he ABC, I thought, he has used the coronation coverage as an excuse to grandstand on his personal issue ... but now, I have changed my mind. if I were in his shoes, i couldn';t just stand by either. Stan Grant and Craig Foster, you both need to get over it. If the Brits were still angry with the Germans, as you are about the Brits, Charles would not have gone to the German Parliament month ago, to speak to them in German. Throughout history, forces have sought to exterminate the indigenous of Britain but we have got over it. Please reflect on what Australia is today and the positive things that the British culture and civilisation has contributed to that. You are speaking our language. Stan Grants sat in a shielded position of privledge with the ABC. Does most of Australia dislike Stan Grant? Yes. Is it because he is Aboriginal? Not for more than one percent of the population who might be racist. For the other 99% of people that dislike him it is because he is so angry and hateful. He has no compassion unless it sits within his culture. Maybe he just needs to assimilate with his own culture if he cannot learn to assimilate to modern muticultural society. Stan Grant is not 100% Aboriginal. Fact. No need to shut him down. His voice has been a great one until he decided to play the political game on what an Australian is. Stan is about my age. He is not 100% Aboriginal. I am not 100% British.I am unsure of my full heritage, but I know for a fact, I am Australian. You work out who is the one with the problem based on the fact I am 100% Australian, just like Stan. Aboriginals need the full respect they deserve, but playing games when your heritage is mixed shows you to be ignorant of facts.

You're dreaming he's a race baiter race hustler that makes alot from grievance politics and victimhood He wouldn't be sitting there in his well paid job on tax dollars in a comfortable safe free liberal democracy if it wasn't for the British Empire and the industrial revolution that took place there after the Scientific Revolution in Western Europe in the 1800s that took the world from abject poverty to wealth and prosperity 7 billion people should be kissing the ass of the British not spewing bile like Stan Wank

You don’t need money to maintain your language and culture: you speak and live it.

Only if it's relevant and needed. How many half or quarter bloods that consider themselves Aboriginal give one crap about the culture or do anything to ensure it continues. You're right. But then there's how many languages of the different nations? It's hard enough to ensure people can speak one language well that is current, let alone many that are barely used

You obviously don't know Australian history as far as Aboriginal people are concerned. Besides being massacre in numbers beyond maintaining a continuity of culture and language there were apartheid laws first created by Australian politicians and public servants to enforce legal enforcement of removal, containment and forced by laws to prevent Aboriginal people speaking their own languages and dialects. This is historical fact for Aboriginal people across Australia.

@@LizBond-oq2hg where has anyone on this thread disregarded that history Liz? There's plenty of Aboriginals in this country according to census. And growing. If they valued their own culture and language theyd learn and live it. Instead they choose the modern lifestyle and English. Maybe if it wasn't forced on people. Maybe if it wasn't shoved down our throats more would care to appreciate it. I can appreciate their culture. But highly push back on it being thrown in my face left right and centre. Being welcomed to my own country at every single damn event or now even domestic flights too. Changing established names to names no-one can remember or speak or spell. Add to that many have been able to do quite well for themselves in Australia. Only once in a great position, to turn around and bitch about how oppressed they are and how we, as a society, need to protect their language and culture that they don't even speak or practice. It's always us v them till they want something then it's us. Add to that their desire to not be us and have their own voice and governmental system of sorts on top of an existing bunch of representatives that apparent even as Aboriginals can't help. If you play the victim you'll stay the victim. I'm not interested in being told I'm oppressing Aboriginals. I'm a second generation Australian. AUSTRALIAN. My parents gave up their culture for a better life here with nothing mind you, nothing, and so thought can appreciate where I came from...I am australian. Born here. Aboriginals have had more opportunity and funding to do much better than my folks...and yet...they haven't. Some contribute and add value through their culture. Some don't. The first is how you keep culture and language alive. Not by demanding everyone pay to do so

Fair call, indigenous people weren't brought into the Federation discussions. The year of that martial law declaration of 1824 it was described as an 'exterminating war' in the Sydney Gazette. I've got an English surname and had the portrait of the Queen through my school education, the Royal Family dominating womens magazines and on postage stamps and currency. At 6 years old I went to see the museum exhibits of the Royal Train in Sydney NSW. Always will be a nerd for it. Have a push for a Republic with Malcolm Turnbull as Head of State. It failed in 1999 and the PM now isn't the PM in 1993 who saw it as worth tilting at.
