Forsooth, heareth my thoughts which reflects my personal canon. I presume that Sir Stanley's betrothed was none other than Elisa Day she who was also known as the Wild Rose (famous in the troubadours Sir Nick of the Cave and the Lady Kylie of the House of Minogue's ballad, "Where the Wild Roses Grow.") While I admit to not being enamored with most of Sir Marshall of Mathers' other ballad's save for "Loseth Oneself," this tale of Sir Stanley is one that I find that sends chills similar to that you would find on a Midwinter Eve. It is quite a tale of a knight who hath lost his reason and takes those choleric and melancholic humors out on his beloved. Lady Dido of Carthage (whom I am curious whether she is a descendant or merely a namesake of Aeneas' lamented love) balances Sir Marshall's swift delivery with her own melodic tone.
