You'd have to have a leather heart to not melt, watching/listening to this performance. Just what we all needed this year. Thanks for reacting, I was waiting to see how you weighed in on this one, and your reaction did not disappoint. Perfect.

Happy Thanksgiving and thank you so much for your reaction to this cover by Voice Play. For some reason this release has been unnoticed by many reactors (possibly the mall format made people think it was a mini/short instead of a full video as most of their shorts/minis are filmed in this format at the Oviedo mall in Florida where their production studio is located). Yes, you are right about it being an emotional nod to the longtime love and friendship they have together and that makes this cover a favorite to dedicated fans and patrons of Voice Play. Their featured guest here, Mykal (pronounced like "Michael") Kilgore was an original member of the quartet, '4theLove', they formed together back when they were in high school in the 1990's. They would sing in the boy's restroom and on street corners in front of businesses. They added beatboxer, Scott Porter, to their group and changed the name to '4-2-Five' and enjoyed some local success under the name '4-2-Five'. Scott Porter left the group to pursue an acting career in Hollywood and Mykal left the group to pursue a career on Broadway (both have been very successful and have Wikipedia pages). After Mykal and Scott left the group they had various friends fill-in for their local gigs. They eventually regrouped adding Tony Wakim and Eli Jacobson and changed the name of their group to 'Voice Play' around 2012 before they went on the 'Sing Off'. J. None was a full time member of the group but left to join the Navy in 2021. J. None still comes back as a featured guest when he is on military leave but these other long time friends that are like extended Voice Play family fill in as featured guests now.

Thank you for this reaction to VoicePlay's "Stand By Me." It is wonderful and needs more attention! I had been hoping that VoicePlay would cover "Stand By Me" eventually. Mykal was the perfect collaborator for this one. A lovely song with a beautiful message about true friendship. We need more of their enjoyment and positivity in the world. Fitting for the lyrics that they are literally standing beside each other as they sing this one. Happy Thanksgiving!

That's pretty much why they did in this format - Stand By Me. Loved Cesar in the center looking over his shoulder to glance at Geoff and Layne. At the end Mykal put his arm around Cesar's shoulder. Geoff and Layne were in middle and high school with Mykal who is one of the original founders. Mykal and Eli weren't in the same school but their schools were close enough to do competitions. Cesar and Mykal were 2 of the hyenas in Be Prepared and hit it off, so they have a really nice experience for future videos.

The message is what makes this so important and so popular! They did a great job and what a voice Mykal has (a founding member of VP back in the 90s!). VP honestly is like a band of brothers. I am not American, but Happy Thanksgiving to you 🤗. Thank you for the reaction! 🌹🕊

Yeah, I'm not sure which action melts me more in this one. Cesar's glances back at Geoff and Layne, Eli's hand on Layne's shoulder when he's singing or that ending hug by Mykal. He and Cesar really hit it off during "Be Prepared". This was recorded on that same trip. I really love the way they took this into gospel territory, too. Gives a different feel than the usual doo-wop.

Mykal Kilgore was one of the founding members of their group in 1997 with Geoff, Layne and Earl Elkins Jr. They were in high school under the name 4thelove. They sang on street corners and in front of businesses. This is one of the songs they sang so it was fitting they did it again. Scott Porter joined in 2000 as the beatboxer and the name changed to 4:2: Five. Mykal left in 2002 for a very successful Broadway career. Has been in many musicals and has written several. He is up for a Grammy. Scott left in 2003 for a very successful acting career. Playing in several movies and sitcoms. You can see Scott in Voiceplay's "Halo" video. They changed the name to Voiceplay in 2010.

Voiceplay and Geoff released their Christmas videos on their Patreons Friday and Saturday. They are absolutely amazing. When Voiceplay did "Sleeping In The Cold Below" by Warframe video games a year ago they liked it so much they commissioned them to do a video for their new game Warframe 1999. They released a Teaser Short with more information about it. All 3 will be premiering sometime this month soon.

VoicePlay and Geoff just dropped thei Christmas Songs. VoicePlay dropped "Zat You Santa Claus?" and Geoff dropped "Carol of the Bell". I would love to see your reaction to both of these 🥰
