Mykal Kilgore used to be their high tenor back in high school but left to go sing on Broadway,. He's even been nominated for a Grammy. I'm not sure if their first EP was after he left, so sadly there may be no songs with him singing with the OG gang. You saw Emoni in Wicked and she's been in others. Her voice is heavenly. When Tim Foust is singing, pay attention to the subtitles. They threw in some friendly rivalry with "Show off!" and yet Geoff looks over to him and give him a sly little smile right when Tim does that drop, knowing his friend is about to utterly WRECK the reactors, hahahahaha! I'm so happy they finally got to collab with Anthony. His voice is spun gold! Managing to get Jeff Thacher from Rockapella is like...... I dunno, like getting Elvis or Paul McCartney, someone who has inspired countless bands. Rockapella is the inspiration for basically every modern acapella group. I grew up listening to them back in the 90, first on the TV show "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?" (their singing was the highlight for me) and later with their albums. I didn't know he was on their first album. It must have been before Layne learned to beatbox. Sheesh, getting to record with him must have been a DREAM. I need to find their old albums, and I really wish they would release an album now. There's more than enough material.

Yeah, this was an early lockdown video... and I think it was even Earl's last video. I have to really express my appreciation for the various musicians and content creators who really came out of the woodwork to keep spirits up, especially in the very early... very scary days of the pandemic. I still remember Dave King and Bridget Regan from Flogging Molly doing weekly performances of a handful of the group's songs out of their cottage in Ireland... and there was a special performance of the song The Real Folk Blues from Cowboy Bebop, performed by the original group with everyone in isolation, along with many other performers joining in. That would be a great video for you to react to. But yeah, this video was unbelievably powerful, especially at the time, and now... it is honestly still unbelievably powerful as a reminder of what we've all been through, but... in a way that kind of... lets me, at least, feel as though we've made it through everything... and just feel relieved.

The Just Sing It Together project that you were a part of...I can not possibly say enough good things about it. No words of mine would come close to doing justice to what all of you made. Sure, the song Voice Play, and others, did was amazing in it's own rite. What all of you did, though, was give voice to those of us who don't feel like we sing well, that we don't have voices others want to hear. We love music, I tell people constantly that I'm in part made of music, but I don't dare sing for anyone other than myself. The video y'all did...It showed me that love of music, passion for music, was enough sometimes. It doesn't have to be perfectly pitched to be perfect. You just have to love it enough. So, thank you for your part in that project. The next time you watch this video, take a look at the final shot with everyone in it. All of those super talented people. And, that's only a small fraction of the people who have been associated with, members of, mentors of one type or another to, or in some way attached to Voice Play. Acapella is a small community, but ultra close knit. It's astounding the connections that have been made between all of those folks.

As one of the project organizers, thank you so much for the lovely comment! From the start it was my hope to encourage the people in the project to share their voices more, including myself. I included myself in that, because while I immensely dislike my voice I wanted to be able to sing more. I don't sing at all in my daily life because the sound of my voice is jarring to me - And yet I love singing so much. I wanted to be able to sing more without feeling so negative about myself. In the beginning of the project, so many wonderful people shared their practice recordings or asked for feedback and every person who responded was *so* kind - And even though it was incredibly scary, I shared my recording with them all as well. Partially in solidarity and partially because that was the first moment in almost 10 years I've shared my voice with anyone other than family and I *had* to break that barrier before the finished project. And just like before, everyone was extremely kind and encouraging! I can't thank them enough for the encouragement they gave. I didn't expect how much this project could do for other people and I never expected that it could reach beyond the project. Your message expressed so well what the project gave to me and I have no words for the thought that it could move you or others like this too. I might be a stranger on the internet right now, but I'm cheering for you and hoping one day we'll all get to hear the songs within you!

I don't believe there are any official recordings with Mykal (Michael) Kilgore...he was part of the band under their original name 4:2Five... I'm so glad you loved this one, there are so many amazing artists that were part of this and there are even more since that weren't known to the guys back then. You reacted to Emoni in Wicked (with Rachel Potter)...she's amazing though... This is (officially) the last video with Earl Elkins Jr as a member of the band I believe...as sad as it is, it is a fitting finale too...

I believe one if not both of the young boys at the beginning is Layne's nephew. Geoff, Layne & Earl are the first original members of the group. They have none each other since grade school. Geoff was the original beatboxer, then Scott & Layne took over when Scott left. Geoff actually taught Layne how to beatbox. Look up ( Geoff beatboxing ) to & it will show the songs he was beatboxing in.

Mykal left the group well before they started posting content on KZbin. There are a couple of old 4:2:Five videos that can be found that include his immediate successors (who in turn left before Tony joined), but if there are any with Mykal in, I'm not aware of them. Somebody (might be Huldra Draco) has a video that tells the chronological history of the group, starting at the very beginning. Emoni is in a couple of other VP videos, most notably Wicked.
