We don’t have a mixer. I use a dough whisk, a spoon for very doughs, and a regular whisk for lighter mixing. Sometimes I use someone else’s strong arm. The mystery item is a rolling pin.

We have all three. The stand mixer is used ~95% of the time because it can knead dough. That being said I have had to replace the plastic/fiber gear inside because due to wear when it starts to make a nasty grinding sound or when the wife leaves a wooden spoon in the bowl when she turned it on. That is a giant plus for the Kithchenaid - your investment is protected.

I have all types of mixers, from a manual eggbeater to hand mixer to 2 KA stand mixers. My 33 yr. old KitchenAid 4.5 qt. tilt head is the most versatile. I got the 6 qt. lift model with a glass bowl--I do not recommend because they are very heavy. Luckily, I was able to snag the metal bowl that KA sold for a limited time to replace it (it had to be a flared bowl to fit the K beaters!). One thing I like about the bigger models is the hinged cap for the accessory hole. It is so easy to misplace the ones that unscrew. That is a pizza dough roller (per Pampered Chef demos).

Sounds like a nice collection! And agreed on the caps; hinged is quite a bit more convenient.

For stand mixers, I have a 40s Hamilton Beach and 50's Sunbeam (the pair for $1 at a garage sale). Also have a 50s chrome Hamilton Beach mixer with a built in timer. At that time, those 2 brands had mostly interchangeable attachments, but not interchangeable power takeoffs. I have a Hamilton Beach dough hooks, but I wouldn't make serious bread with it. What attachments I have: meat/ food grinder, salad maker (vegetable slicer), ice crusher, orange juicer, can opener, basic food processor, and pasta press. Other attachments were made over the years. Hand mixer : mom's vintage Sunbeam mixer (probably worn out). A vintage Hamilton Beach for a relative that wasn't used. Several vintage hand mixers that might get used for spare parts. For me, the hand mixer is used for lighter weight, quick mixing. This is especially when I don't want much clean up. The stand mixers are for heavier duty home kitchen mixing, when I want to be able to take my hands off it, and when I want to used the attachments. Any heavy duty mixing is likely to be baking and would probably go in the bread machine. I don't have a Kitchen Aid 'counter queen', but if I ever see a vintage one at a good price I will find the counter space.

Sound like a great collection. I think you’ll like the KitchenAid if (when) you find one. I wasn’t seeking another, but when I saw that Hobart at the thrift for less than the price of dinner out, I had to grab it.

I have 5 mixers - 3 KitchenAid's (Commercial 8, Pro 5 Plus, and a 5 qt Artisan), an Amazon cheapie, and my favorite Ankarsrum Assistent stand mixer. The Ankarsrum is what I use to make large amounts of bread. It can do all other mixing, but it's a dream for bread making. I use them all and love having them. I also have a bunch of KA attachments, which makes them even better. I guess you can say, "I love to cook". That phrase sounds familiar...😁

Although its an informative video, but u was waiting for you to comment on the quantities, eg. I have a heavy duty kenwood Chef baker, but if i want to whip 3 egg whites, i was at wits end to whip it in rhe heavy duty Kenwood. Its my first time and hence wasnt aware.

That lovely double roller is a Kitchen Brayer for pastry, pizza dough, or anything else you want to roll. (P.S. You really do need a larger island. Was holding my breath your hand mixer wouldn't crash to the floor. 😲)

Oh my gosh, I need a whole new kitchen, lol. We love this house, but knew when we bought it the kitchen would need a serious overhaul. I keep saving my pennies 😀

The trivia item looks like something to roll the bubbles out of wallpaper or veneer. I have no idea what it would be used for in the kitchen. It would take forever to roll out a crust with something that small.

Oh boy: let’s hope I didn’t grab another mislabeled utility device. Last time this happened it appears it was a carpet tool impersonating a pastry cutter. Or we’re taking Trivia Time to a whole new level! 😂

A hand mixer is a versatile tool. You can mix stuff in a glass jar, which is resistant to scratches and splatter. It lacks power at low speed as it doesn't have any gearbox or 3-phase drive. I don't even know why thye include a dough hook. Stand mixer is for baking. If you don't do much or any baking, you don't need it. They also don't make them very durable from what I have heard, and no spare parts, which is a bummer for an item costing over 400. A hand mixer that goes into a stand is Ok.

@@IWantToCook I actually have 2 KitchenAid Stand Mixers like that Pro 600 you also have but mines is in Contour Silver & I have a Tilt Head in regular silver along with a KA 5 Speed Hand Mixer & Cuisinart 5 Speed Hand Mixer (my first hand mixer I bought). I’ve been a hand mixer user all throughout my life & I’ve always wanted a stand mixer but they were expensive, plus at the time, there was no room for it, I’ve talked myself out of spending hundreds of dollar for one, I almost swore off buying one & I almost just limited myself to only hand mixers & kneading dough by hand for the rest of my life. But then, I relevantly bought my first KitchenAid for only $247 during the Covid year (2020). Since then, even 32 years old, it’s been a GAME CHANGER!

I have my mom's stand mixer and I do like it but my daughter uses it much more so I gave it to her. I also have the kitchenaid hand mixer and like it too. As a kid my mom had the hybrid made by Sunbeam and she hated using it. I always thought it was cool because you could use it as both but was pretty heavy to use as a hand mixer. I don't know what she ever did with it. I have hand/strength issues so my using a hand mixer is pretty limited so I will probably buy another stand mixer if I want to do any holiday baking. I'm thinking RED!

Oh those red ones are so beautiful! I hope you treat yourself to one. Happy cooking! 😀
