I am from Iran and we normally dilute it with water and drink it as a beverage. I have never seen anyone cook it the way you did because it has lots of fiber. Did this upset your stomach in any way?

Hello and thanks for watching! No, personally this has never given me digestive issues. Just the opposite, in fact. I’ve found it can “really move things along.” 😀 I have never heard of it as a drink, but now I am intrigued. Maybe it is like a thicker barley water? All my best to you. 🙏

The best thing about raw stainless steel is thatvit can be scrubbed with raw stainless steel. Foam and plastic BS can get lost.

I had both. Once I adapted rice cooking in the Instant Pot, the old rice cooker went out the door. I hate redundancies, so the IP won with its pressure cooking capabilities. If you can afford it and only want one, the IP is great. Tight budget and eat rice more frequently, rice cooker will never fail you.

AFAIK the two are pretty much the same material. The difference is that one is cast the other is forged. Usually cast iron tends to be thicker. Here in Germany (and I'd guess in Europe generally), forged pans are much more common and super cheap.

I bought millet from natural grocers in Colorado. I do not know it is hulled millet or not. But i have to keep adding water and i cook for 3 hours in order for it to be soft and edible. Whaf is wrong with my millet?
@IWantToCook2 күн бұрын
Sounds quite long. While millet retains an al dente-type texture to it after being cooked, i don’t think it should take hours to be edible, even at altitude. Perhaps, as you suspect, it hasn’t been hulled? I’d ask the folks at the store. And you can always order some Bob’s Red Mill variety. I buy that and am happy with it.

🤦♂️🤦🤦♂️🤦!!!! Easy my ....! I was so nervous using it the first time - I FORGOT I removed the inner pan while giving it a good clean before using it. Yep - you guessed it -I forgot to put the pan back & loaded it up with chicken quarters, added some water over the foil lined bottom🤦🤦♂️🤦 🥺😱😭😭😭I hope I don't short circuit it, or overheat it, or destroy it😭😭😭

😳 oh my. Well if it’s any comfort, you are not alone. When I was a boy, my mom asked me to “fill the crock-pot” with the beef stew so it would be hot by the time she came home from work. And - you guessed it - I didn’t realize the stone crock holding the contents of the family dinner was supposed to be loaded into the machine in its entirety. I instead poured all the contents into the inner vessel. My memory is foggy as that was long ago, but I believe the machine lived to cook on. I hope yours does, too.

Used to cook 6 eggs in metal rings in 1/2" of canola oil in an electric skillet at fire department pancake breakfasts. No problem loading eggs, cook until whites are setting, remove rings, splash oil on eggs to finish to medium with whites fully set. 😊 remove, draining with slotted spoon. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, 2 pancakes, 2 slices of toast. Always a crowd, always happy people, good times at a small town volunteer fire dept.😊

Perhaps you might want to cite it and critically evaluate it? There’s a lot on the Internet, authentic and not. I will note there was some small uproar years ago about lead in pyroceramic CorningWare. Turns out any lead would be in exterior, painted emblems, which wouldn’t have contact with food (and are not on Visions). As always, I urge careful study to evaluate what works for you and your needs. Best regards 🙏

I haven't tried cooking with Thai eggplant. The internet says it is more bitter than globe eggplants. I enjoy cooking with long Chinese eggplants and graffiti eggplants, which are less bitter than globe eggplants. I'm looking forward to seeing how you prepare Thai eggplant. Thank you for this easy tomato bisque recipe! It looks like it will be fun to try this winter when I'm craving tomato soup and grilled cheese!

That's a chimney charcoal starter for the grill. I'm that odd person who hates cream of tomato soup--even if you give it a fancy name like bisque! I think it's that combination of tomatoes and milk/cream that grosses me out. Plus, I prefer soup with the texture of something I can chew like beef or chicken and some vegetables. I don't want soup to drink lol! We went to a fancy restaurant for Valentine's Day several years back and they served that kind of soup with one heart shaped crouton! I was not happy--it was a pre fixe menu without options. Luckily, the other courses were good.

fire starter for grill. Great video Matt! I love tomato bisque soup and now I can make it. I do have a question about emersion blenders in general. I have hand issues and having to hold down a button is a no-go for me. Do they make a blender where you can just turn it on and not have to hold it? I would love to buy one and save myself another dish to wash.
@IWantToCook3 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! That's a good question on the blender. I believe the one I linked to KZbin's shopping program -- the Cuisineart -- has an on/off button. Under its features it says you can simply press the button to leave it on, or press repeatedly to pulse. It is also a variable speed. Sounds much better than the old, thrifted one I used in the video.

can you fry those after they come out of the ricer?
@IWantToCook3 күн бұрын
Like a fritter? Possibly, but you'll likely need some type of binder, such as breadcrumbs, eggs, etc. to bulk it up. One easy thing to do is to gratin the mashed potatoes under a broiler. You can add some cheese to the top, run it under the broiler, and you'll have a lovely dish of bubbly browned cheese and mashed potatoes.

Hi what are the water level recommendations for high altitude cooking?
@IWantToCook3 күн бұрын
Good question. I don’t recall seeing instructions for that. Since it’s relatively little water, I would use trial and error to see how much water/cooking time works for your particular tastes and altitude.

While I plan to get a churn and dasher for large batches (and also for the nostalgia), I find that making butter in 1 pint Mason jars is easy, and allows me to easily do the vigorous agitation I want to do when the cream breaks. It takes less than 3 minutes of moderate shaking to have butter. One jar in each hand does a pint of cream at a time, four jars lets me do a quart of cream in about 6 minutes, with buttermilk collected and all the butter in first ice bath in less than 10 minutes. The key is temperature. On days when I'm making butter, I set out on the countertop for hours whatever portion of cream I plan to use. Around 60 degrees F is an ideal temperature for the cream when making butter.

If you soak it for few hours before cooking it becomes like glue....dreadful...But it MUST first be washed and 😅 washed thoroughly until water is fairly clear. Cook one cup millet to two cup boiling water....1 tsp salt & dab of butter...lid on & cook very low heat 20 min...leave to stand a while with lid on then fluff up with fork...my hubby has it for breakfast & it gives him energy all day...the left overs make yummy millet fritters (pancakes)
