Brings back memories of my tour flying over the Hoover Dam and the desert around Las Vegas! Those summers can be brutal for high DA and gusty conditions. Having high DA and mountain experience really puts your resume top of the pile for many jobs! If you are a 'flatlander' get this sort of experience if you can to help your future career options! You can land anywhere but can you take off after? High DA is not your friend. and mountain weather is another hazard, It can change by the minute.
