1:20 That part works in so many ways. It shows both Jotaro and Giorno as winning underdogs in a fight against two of the most powerful, time manipulating stand users. They're both to the right and villains to the left, as it shows how powerful the threats are to their bloodline, and as Dio smiles at Jotaro confident in his own prowess, he simultaneously smiles with confidence at his son who is sure to win.

This same smile shows that he is sure that Giorno will win, it's true but in addition as soon as Dio disappears (showing his defeat against Jotaro) he looks at Giorno one last time and we see that he turns the situation around and traps Diavolo then wins as Dio hoped, so it's like looking at Jotaro, Dio sees his victory through Giorno so he can leave losing against Jotaro without problem because he knows that his son will not fail. Is that clear? no x) Am i going too far? Yeah I Think xD
