42 and ¾ was my majic number for all around size up to solid 8-10ft Hawaiian size on the North shore. It was a board that Chris won taloa handed to me one day I was surfing backdoor. In big waves using a smaller board you learn to be in the right spot at the right time👍🏼🤙🏽

Was doing this in Ewa Beach (Lots) HI in 1988. Jack Da Ripper was knee drop king but could Stand Sponge as well. Aloha

Bro, how do I get in touch with you? Even though it doesn't seem like many peeps do this, it's a personal passion of mine/goal of mine. I'm in Hawaii, still perfecting the pop up and could definitely use some pointers. Im also checking out Toobs customs and would love to get your perspective on the right size board with the right amount of rocker.

The best thing you can do is put the time in the more you go the more you know. I've watched and studied videos religiously of the goats growing up Chris won/ cavin yap / Danny kim and was lucky enough to be taken under Chris won's wing. He gave me one of his boards the length was 42¾ and was the best all around board for big and small waves in Hawaii. I forgot the exact dimensions but if you visit Carlos Rios at ballistic boards on Oahu he might still have the specs, I had Carlos do 2 replicates of the board Chris won gave to me because the board was majic and I was fortunate enough to put myself in some major barrels all along the North shore🤙🏽
