Should have possibly explained a bit as to what P-hat and Q-hat is, to make sense of the difference. An example would have been better - too theoritical

I still don't get it Let's say that I want to estimate the amount of time for an object to fall from 10 meter height. I do it 10 times and measure a slightly different time. The mean from 10 data will be what I am looking for. But for how good is my estimation, do I need to use SE? Is confidence interval is what I am looking for in this case? Or hypothesis test? Or I need to use both maybe?

you couldn't use a normal distribution diagram to explain?

this video was a good topic, I really have wanted to know about it. However, the wording is just sort of like what the text book says...it kind of thizzled out at the end. Need better examples. thanks for tying though.

Pardon me, Mr, Mays, but this video exemplifies why statistics (and tutorials like this) make absolutely no sense to anybody. Even you, evidently, because you're stumbling around all over the place trying to figure out what you're saying. The basic fault is that statisticians use obtuse statistical jargon to try and explain other obtuse statistical jargon without ever relating any of it back to some semblance of real world concepts that people can actually make sense of. Visualizing this with diagrams would certainly help, as someone previously noted. Thumbs down, I'm afraid, on this weak effort.

+James Franck - James, I'm going to agree with you and disagree with you. I agree that this is not a very good video that I've made. I made this a number of years ago, when I didn't have the best understanding of how to talk about Standard deviation vs standard error. I need to make a new video for this, but haven't had the time to do so as of late. Where I disagree is your thought that statisticians use of statistical jargon. The purpose of this video was to give my students a better understanding of the topic (I know this isn't the best as said above). So you need to consider that my students, or anyone that watches my videos, have some understanding of previous topics and the jargon being used should be familiar to them. Not every video is helpful, but a lot of tutorials on youtube are very helpful. This on is not and your comments will motivate me to make a better one. But you can't say that all statisticians don't give real life examples. Many of my videos and other stats tutorials, have been very helpful. Just not this one.

I didn't think the video was that bad. He referenced the confidence interval and HT which helped me out a bit, and i'm the WORST at math and the stats class i'm currently in

Yeah, you're right. I came down pretty hard on Mr. Mays. Apologies extended. Probably the result of toxic frustration build up after having watched too many incomprehensible stats vids. Like politics, it can poison your soul! Well...maybe not...
