Whats the battery life like? I can't find a definitive answer from real time users.

I actually find the battery life very good. I've been out a few times and had the radio on for 3-4 hours listening to music and still had plenty of battery life left incase of an emergency. I'm very satisfied with this radio and would recommend it to anyone.

@@Livinglifeat60 what's 'very good' in hours? There's a lot of various claims to how long it lasts. I'd have it on standby 90% of the time. A radio on it is pointless for me, I would just buy a small fm radio if I felt the need for music. It's the size that's appealing to me.

@@kayaksnorkeluk8272 I completely agree with you. When I do an all day or weekend trip I will carry a small radio. There is no point of having a vhf if the battery is dead. But the radio is nice for a few hours in my local pond.

I've now instead just bought an hx300e unused still sealed in packaging for a great price which popped up online. I know its a tad bigger but with usb charging, spare battery option plus AA battery tray option i know ill good without battery anxiety.

@@kayaksnorkeluk8272 You are going to love that radio. I had mine for 3 years and it never failed me.

What happened to your HX300? I have the HX40 but am thinking of getting a HX300 for trips so I can recharge it with a powerbank.

I loved to HX300, but I wanted a smaller radio and also one with a FM radio built in. The HX40 fits the bill and fits perfectly in my new pfd. Get yourself the HX300, it's a great radio.

How can I add a new frequency to my vhf radio?, for the same model.
