Thank you so much for the explanation. By far the best video I’ve seen explaining SHE !!!

03:30 "completes" the circuit from what i understood, even without the salt bridge there's flow of electrons for some time but not for long. So the salt bridge kinda extends the duration of flow of electrons by balancing the net charge on both sides of the cell with the transfer of Ions as you said. So basically the salt bridge keeps the current in the circuit flowing and doesn't "complete" it right? I have a feeling what I understood is somehow wrong. Thanks btw you're helping me so much for my exams.

I disagree. It helps maintain the flow of the electrons and prevents the process stopping short very quickly. Without it , things would grind to a halt so we describe it this way. Thanks for watching and I’m glad the videos are useful! 🔵

Hi Mr Murray, I have a quick question, whee can we find an accurate list of all the definitions we need to know please?
@mrmurraygreen Жыл бұрын
Mini hack for you = go to the OCR or AQA spec and search the document for either ‘definition’ or ‘define’ and then go though each of the mentions in the list

@@mrmurraygreen hi sir where can this be found is their a link?

The left hand side means it should be the anode. Correct me if i am wrong.

The SHE always goes on the left. As it’s the basis of the electrochemical series, we place it here for consistency as we don’t know the electrode potential of the other half cell yet so we don’t know which is more negative (yet)

Hi, I'm going to get very bad grade in the exam and after than I have to sit as a private candidate. The nearest centre does the AQA instead of OCR. I dont understand what should I do in that case, because of the differences of content. Can you please help me with that. Thanks.
@mrmurraygreen Жыл бұрын
Hi - contact the centre in this scenario and they may let you sit the alternative exam board but with their regular students. Try not to worry though and just do your best

Why does the voltmeter read a negative voltage. Is it a problem.
@mrmurraygreen8 ай бұрын
It reads as negative because of how the position of equilibrium compares to that of the SHE. Remember this is all done to try and record a standard electrode potential and some of these are negative values. Check this out too = kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3fce3yZiNhjhMUsi=au3JBSzjhBFwq_on
