the charger tip alone has so much parts. that's crazy. looks very simple outside but very complicated when you open it

No wonder why it costs $39 USD

Hi, not sure if I missed it, but is there a component that does the job of MFI authentication like the USB-C to Lightning and Lightning to USB Cables do?
@ChargerLAB3 жыл бұрын
For MagSafe accessoires, Apple called it" MFM". The chip has been integrated to MagSafe charger module.

I have a question, at 1:13 there is no phone connected to the magsafe charger but the power-z meter indicates 8.9V 1.5A, where does the power go??

The circuitry I assume to keep it on standby. That’s why I have chargers on a power strip that I turn off when I’m not using them
@xDMG15x Жыл бұрын
You assume incorrectly, if you watch the the 3rd row of the meter you can see with each refresh the watts are decreasing. When you remove the phone from the puck there is a short delay before the charger recognises its gone and the charging coil is powered down gradually until the load is almost nothing. There is a cut just before 1:13 so you dont see that the phone had just been removed from the puck. When it cuts again, you see that the phone is back on the puck, and the watts are increasing again as the coil powers back up.

Doesn't it have a nfc coil that is in any other MagSafe accessories?
@ChargerLAB3 жыл бұрын
It hasn't.

At @3:00 you can see him rip off the top cover, with the NFC tag on it. The tag is on a flex PCB and is connected to the lower case with flexible copper traces. You can see the traces being torn apart at @3:03 when he rips off the top cover. At least that is my opinion. I will have Apple confirm this once I get into their MFi program.

I don’t mind whats inside, but how strong is the cable and puck soldering job? Seems like the USB C part is solid not sure about the other end

why magsafe is faster than thirdparty magsafe (anker mophie etc). Is it because of coil winding difference or Echip or software limitation? Now 2024 15 pro&pro max coil is Qi2 standart & apple unlock 15 watt for 13-14 pro series...why?
@alexmurat6733 жыл бұрын
Great video. Thanks for the input. Does the Magsafe charger not have an NFC chip?
@ChargerLAB3 жыл бұрын
the NFC chip should be inside your phone.

@@ChargerLAB shouldn’t there be one in the rubber end? Otherwise how would the iPhone differentiate between a normal Qi charger and a MagSafe charger with the animations?

Would it work if you directly supply power to the puck for a DIY project, or are the electronics in the wire by the usb c necessary for controlling the power/charging? I would like the 15w fast charging for what I am trying to do and this is the only wireless option that offers that, I just want to directly power it without the wire.

the part at 2:10 is so incredibly painful to watch. I really appreciate you tearing it down this far, but please take yourself a little bit more time. Properly clamp the device in a fixture, use a tweezer and little force. It will be so much more elegant and less destructive!
@tycox87042 жыл бұрын
So THAT’s why it costs 2x to 3x of third party offerings. I’m less irritated now. However, I still feel Magsafe ruined the primary benefit of wireless charging…one handed convenience. Now it takes two hands to disconnect the phone from its charger! To me, that is a plug connection.

Thank you for great tear down 😊I just wonder if which one I should choose: Belkin or Apple wireless charger ? Which one is the internal better quality?
@ChargerLAB2 жыл бұрын
Of course Apple has better quality, but with higher price.
@xyxy1024 Жыл бұрын
@@ChargerLAB I would disagree. This charger will fail and become irreparable with the first component that breaks down, and Apple's USB cables are notorious for failing after just a few months of regular use.

If some equipment seems to be to robust, just place some important circuits in its plug… and voila! Your not reparable pice of junk is ready!
