This was great video! I liked how Dr. Grande explained the raw score when one is assessing clients and how this type of score is often referred to as a standard score. How to determine the z score was also a great refresher!

Great video. This video did help me a lot in remembering the Ss, TS and Z scores. I have to say, the sten and stanine were new to me. Good to reinforce that percentile rank is not a standard score but rather a way to understand a persons score. Combining the text and the video helped me understand more. Great presentation.

As far as the other types of scores, I will have to revisit this video a few times to understand how to convert a raw score to them. Just like before, I think I will understand how convert different scores better when I actually get the chance to work with real data.

The one example on how to get a Z score helped me to understand what mean/ standard deviation to use in a given situation. The example was to compute a Z score from a IQ score. this video was helped me understand standard scores better. i like how standardized scores allow you to compare different inventories together such as depression and anxiety. I can see where this would be helpful in treatment. Good refresher on constructs such as z scores and t scores and the formulas associated with them. is also helpful to know the other types of scores and when/where they are commonly used. I think i might like to know more about why each scores are used in various settings other than the explanation that they are used there. Still trying to wrap my head around all of these scores and concepts but in trying to conceptualize them, I noted a few things. Standard scores are scores that have been converted to an interpretable scale from its raw vale. The mean and SD are set for standard scores. Deviation IQs are widely used in intelligence testing. Percentile rank is not a standard score.

I had never heard of the stanines or stennens before this video, and while I was watching the video, everything about standardizing test just sort of clicked.

Yeah. I am glad we got those examples though so we know now that this stuff isn't mostly just hypothetical and theoretical and that it actually is a heavily used concept in testing.

that was new information for me as well. I too found it helpful in knowing where each was used althought would have likeed to know more about why each one was used in certain places. good video for a refresher though!
