My tai chi professor made us hug the tree for about 15 minutes at the start of each session as a warm-up exercise with our legs flexed really low. After a few weeks I started discovering muscles in my legs I didn't even know existed, really great stance!

Wow thank you! I really enjoyed it. When I was circling my stomach I was belching like crazy and I went to the bathroom. LOL. I have a question. I feel my hip is out of alignment. Will this technique help with that?

Are there any easier goals for those who can't go the full 45 just yet? Btw even though I'm probably doing it incorrectly I'm feeling the after effects of standing mediation. TYVM for posting this.

Yes, you can build up to 45 min, try for 9 min, then move up in increments of 9. I've changed my perspective in the seven years since I posted this video. It's best to actually start out with your hands at the lower Dantian level, holding a lower circle 1.5 to 2 inches beneath the navel. It's a detox, you will definitely feel it!
