That's not all true, maybe back then, but times have changed. You can see a lot of people standing up for gay people and/or different people. But I'm not going to assume anything and ask if maybe something happen that made you think that way. If you don't want to however you don't need to tell.

Its honestly not discrimination if the person is honestly not comfortable wrestling with that person.
@stepheniecook85494 жыл бұрын
If I find out that I'm wrestling someone who is attracted to people who are my gender. I'm going to feel uncomfortable. Not because I hate them, just because I don't want to be touched but someone why might like me and advantage of that (and I know the person might not like me but i find out if there is a chance I'm not gonna take it). Whether they are a straight guy or a lesbian girl. I feel weird and uncomfortable when ppl touch me, most of all hug me, unless they're a family member of mine. That's why I put that comment out.
@stepheniecook85494 жыл бұрын
But in this case the guy who didn't want to wrestle him actually must have been ok with wrestling people cuz he's on the team and he did seem rude so most likely he was homophobic.

My daughter introduced me to this program. Though it made me uncomfortable to watch at first, it was overall a cute family program, trying to show a family adjust to changes as Christians dealing with a divorce and a gay son. I felt the show was too centred around the gay son, instead of focusing on all the characters like traditional sitcoms. And his character is very stereotypical. Overall a ok show, too bad it was cancelled.

I'm no fan of bigotry, but if many gays feel justified in choosing not to do business with some people based on those people's physical characteristics, and justify these choices as "preference," then why is it wrong for the (green suit) wrestler in this scenario to have a preference not to wrestle someone who's gay? I'm not defending the choice, but seems to me if one preference is defensible, so is the other.
@supermilkguy8 жыл бұрын
Tom Hal give an example of a gay person choosing not to do business with some people because of their "physical characteristics."
@tomhal43888 жыл бұрын
+supermilkguy Professional prejudice against gays due to their race, age, and body image within the gay community itself is widely documented in personal testimonies, and in community and professional publications. Professional prejudice against individuals who don't conform to certain gender expression expectations, again in the gay community itself, is also widely reported. Separately, transgender discrimination at the professional level continues to exist in the gay community. Notably, when individuals from these communities voice their grievances, they are very often told either that they have merely imagined the events, when the events are difficult to prove, or that the provable discriminatory behavior is merely "preference" or the freedom of an establishment to choose whom to do business with. It's also notable that while several high-profile gay community members, organizations, and businesses over the past two decades have dismissed claims of professional and community discrimination as errors in perception among those making the claims, before the codification of gay rights in the US there were (and continue to be) many reports from gays themselves of orientation discrimination at the professional and community levels, reports that were dismissed by mainstream culture as merely perceptual errors among gays. Lastly, it's also telling how vehement the gay community's denial of such claims is, despite the resentment many gays express when their own claims of prejudicial behavior aren't taken seriously. I'm not trying to vilify the gay community, but I am pointing out that, like many other human communities that have experienced exceptional historic discrimination, the gay community itself can be especially painfully self-discriminatory. Again, not meaning to offend.
@tomhal43888 жыл бұрын
***** Not agreeing with a claim doesn't mean the claim makes "absolutely no sense at all." You're entitled to your feelings, but you might engage someone to understand where he or she is coming from instead of labeling his or her claims as irrational.
@tomhal43888 жыл бұрын
+Disko H As I said, you're entitled to your opinions, but opinions are not facts. Cheers.

Tom Hal what is professional prejudice? Show me the widely documented "professional prejudice" by gays on all the issues you're talking about.
@michelerich15908 жыл бұрын
Eh, I have to disagree with a couple things he says: "...well it turns out, they're the ones who are gay." It's perpetuating the idea that calling someone gay is a putdown. "If he's gay, then we are all gay." ehh, I cringed. It doesn't make sense. You don't have to call yourself gay as though that's the way you show solidarity. The one thing I guess that makes up for it is that it's illustrating the fact that, yeah, sometimes people don't know what to say. They might see the discrimination happening, know it's wrong, know they disagree, want to speak up, but they don't really have the right words at first. Moreover, some people, even if they mean well, can use 'comebacks' laced with residual homophobia. I've seen people stand up for me calling straight homophobes 'fa**ots'. And like, I know they think they're just giving them a taste of their own medicine. And in a sense, they are. That's kinda what happened here in this scene. But, I think it's SO much more important to just recognize there really just isn't anything wrong about being gay. Like, being called a 'fa**ot' or a 'dy*e', especially when the person is NOT gay is not gonna make the homophobe think twice. I don't want to come off like i'm complaining, because I think that scenes that are meant to encourage standing up for gay people is great. But I did have to mention it.

The point is that Jimmy is supportive but isn't good with his words.
@HickoryDickory868 жыл бұрын
You must not know the show very well. Jimmy's a bit of a doofus, and has never been able to speak well. He just kinda blurts things out, and they always sound terrible. But if you know Jimmy, then you know what he's trying to say, and you love him all the more for it. He has a tender heart even though his lightbuld is a bit dim. The simple point he's trying to make is that they are a team, united, and what affects one of them affects them all. It's painfully obvious that's what he's saying, and could have gotten the point and left well enough alone if you could just grow beyond your self-centered mindset of needing to be offended at something all the time.
@michelerich15908 жыл бұрын
HickoryDickory86 Wow, you've got it so backwards. I said I disagreed. I was very careful to clarify that "I don't want to come off like i'm complaining". Left well enough alone? Well...no. I'm not gonna do that. Why would I? I mentioned it because I know I sure as heck liked seeing support in the comments. I don't watch the show very much, but it shouldn't matter. The creators know that clips like these are going to be viewed on their own by lots of people. It was a good opportunity to show how situations like these could be handled without resorting to playground tactics of calling the other team gay. It's not like it's an awful thing; because I know it was meant well. I was just adding my two cents. It wasn't self-centered. My comment was in support of all gay people; that's what this video was about.
