I’m a mother of 2 grown ladies and one of them has 3 children in MISD and a local daycare. My heart breaks for each and every parent at this session and in the state of Texas. Even if Abbott calls a special session in this second, he is years too late to address the carnage he has released on our citizens. Not only does Abbott have to be removed from his office because he is NOT a leader. The same is true for EACH horrible member of the Republicans in the Texas Legislature. This was heartbreaking to hear. The courage of these parents is more than amazing. I can’t imagine dealing with the slaughter of a child and being slapped in the face by a governor who says, “It could have been worse.” How? How could this have been worse for these parents who have lost the very cornerstones of their lives. Horrendous! And I don’t believe he’s ever explained this callous remark. All Abbott has done is made it more difficult for students to feel safe in TX schools. Children are being traumatized by heavily armed law enforcement officers entering their classrooms and having them raise their hands as if they are criminals. I’ve lost count of the number of schools that have been placed in lockdown since the school year began in the RGV. One of those schools was the high school my niece attends in Mission. Schools are not prisons and the current environment is not conducive to learning. I will definitely be voting for Beto! The parents of Uvalde already know that law enforcement are more concerned about their own damn lives than saving children!

Beto reaches people. Abbott does not. Abbott was sure he could control the debates by keeping Uvalde families from attending. It backfired. Going into the debate Abbott's poll numbers were higher with the focus group his campaign helped organize. But after the debates, the poll numbers with the focus group flipped almost exactly and it was Beto who won with 50 % of the vote and Abbott 43. The focus group was made up of people Abbott was assured would vote for him but hearing Beto in person has a way of changing minds. I speak as someone who has been skeptical of Beto. He seemed too hungry for public office running and being rejected multiple times but people can change and mature and Beto's style of retail politics has never been seen before. One feels he knows just about every voter in the state on a first name basis because he's met them one on one. He's also experienced Greg Abbott the same way they have as a governor who has had plenty of time to make TX better but has only made TX worse. For anyone who has not been brainwashed by Qanon, the choice in November is clear -- Beto O'Roarke has learned and listened and grown into a force to be reckoned with. Fearless! Determined to help change TX future for the better with a diverse government in every sense of the word that will work together for the good of everyone who lives in the state. Greg Abbot is a cynical politician whose only concern is winning elections any way he can.
