I accidentally used stimulation on 2 mode I can tell he felt it but he didn’t cry , I only did it once or twice and the rest vibrate .

Love your videos for hunting dog training! He looks like he is nervous when the vibrate turns on. Is this normal for ‘most’ puppies? Do you keep working at the vibrate stage until he is comfortable or start working on the next step right away?

I find your videos extremely helpful. I have a question on this. I started this with my dog but once the collar vibrates he stays planted on his bead and won't come off with here or release command. I am guessing to take a step back and go back to these drills/commands without the collar to build his confidence in them. What would you suggest?

For some dogs, the vibrate function can be incredibly scary. I prefer to use low stim that the dog barely feels vs vibrate. I'd find the dog's working level, an ear twitch, a turn of the head, etc can all be indicators that the dog is feeling the stim. Some dogs work at a level 3 (this is dogtra and ecollar tech systems), where some dogs are up around 10 in the beginning. It's the same thing, pressure on, pressure off, just using stim vs vibrate.

I love your videos!😍 I will be getting an 8week old puppy next week he is a Lab/Australian Cattle Dog so I'm watching almost all of you training videos to learn because we would like him to eventually be a bird dog!! Any tips or recommendations on that particular breed?

Why do you call it kennel and not bed?

Likely just a preference, I would assume. Or they may have a kennel set up with multiple dogs so the command "kennel" would tell them to go to their individual dog run - at least that's been my experience.

How would you do this with a sport dog collar that does not vibrate?

We would recommend using a collar with vibrate. Stimulation can be used but it won’t be used the way we are demoing here.

Sport dog ecollars do have a vibrate depending on the model ,you just have to reprogramm it ,it tells you how in instructions

In my opinion this is way too young to collar condition. I don't collar condition until 6 months nor do most trainers.

If the dog has already learned the command, why don’t you give the command while turning the collar on and then when the command is executed the collar is turned off? You may be doing this but in the video it seems that the collar is turned on then the command is given and then the collar is turned off when he executes the command

Because you don't want the dog associating the command with the vibration, which is what you would get if you gave the command first and then turned the vibration on. When you put the vibration on first, then issue the command, the dog is able to more easily connect that the command and the follow through is what stops the vibration.

Do you have email or Facebook...I have gsp.. He hunts with my hawks.. I got brain injurie..he was trained before meningitis and back to back rear end car accidents...he was able to become my service dog.. I'm fearful Of my training now.. My decision making problem solving and executive functions Are a mess..let me know What you think about this situation

Ethan, not sure if you answer on here still but following your training videos with Sprig for my Lab, Barley. 1st E-collar dog I've trained, and he is scared of his "place" after first session (vibrate only). Continue with it or reset without it?

My dog doesn’t like the vibrate either. But the momentary and continuous stim don’t seem to scare him.

Shock collars can create fear, anxiety and aggression in your dog toward you or other animals. While they may suppress unwanted behavior, they do not teach a dog what you would like them to do instead and therefore should not be used

Sounds like you have never been in the marsh with a dog that has high prey drive. An E-Collar is a very useful tool when your dog is 100 yards away on a retrieve and is in danger of hurting himself. You only base your opinion on your experiences instead of listening to other sides of the isle.

Shut up snowflake the collar doesn’t hurt them one bit especially when you’re just using the vibration. And even if he did or I did or anyone else uses the shock which they will I would get shocked by the collar. It doesn’t hurt at all it just feels like someone scratching at your neck. It’s to help the dogs with their behaviors learn what your talking about before you say something 🤷‍♂️
