Great standing stones can be found all over the British Isles, it is thought that in Britain and Ireland alone there are over 50 000 of these specifically placed stones. The issue is that we know almost nothing about the history and meaning of these stone. There were erected by a long-forgotten people of a social or religious nature we have no concept of and some are patterned by drawings or words in a language we have to decipher. Thought out Scottish history these stones have always existed and have always been a conduit for the fanciful and supernatural. To day we look at one in particular, which has a strong connection to the New year. The Stane O' Quoybune
