I really respect the work this women and her team do for society because it gives us a better system of thinking and learning that is necessary for the modern world and coming generations. Truly these people are awesome for what they do and I'm thankful.

@@veniceramos8243 not sure what exactly is groundbreaking. All the concepts she writes about have been known for 2000+ years and used by ancient Greek and Roman philosophers. Those were the teachers of their times.

The first psychologist who created the Theory of Mindset was Dimitri Uznadze, one of the greatest Georgian scientists. Carol Dweck's theory is further development of Uznadze's theory of mindset. Very very impressive!

Thank you teacher Carol Dweck for research and introducing the concept of growth mindset . Before getting to know about this new information, i was so anxious about how about i going to boost my career and learning . As i was a good student in school as i was accelerating to high school and college . I was not performing well , i used to curse myself that i am not intelligent as others and so i got depressed. But thank you again as i started my university i watched your video ok Khan Academy channel which relieved me from the bad things that i used to imagine for myself like as i can not get success as other intelligent people are Getting but now with growth mindset, I make failure my one of the biggest ally to progress further and try to achieve that goal. I am blessed to watch this video as this provides me strength to fight with difficult situations in every aspect of life.

Fascinating; Prof. Dweck has assembled a vast amount of EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE to support a revolutionary theory in education/psychology, one that I (and my late mom, who was a full time professional teacher) have always endorsed; namely, that if the student has a GROWTH MINDSET vs a FIXED MINDSET, that student, independent of IQ or SES, will achieve better than peers, controlling for all other factors. Up to now, conventionally, we've explained student success as around 50% IQ and 50% SES; this research really debunks that. Speaking for myself, who admittedly had good IQ and good SES, I nonetheless have always had a GROWTH MINDSET to learning; I've always been a lifelong learning, constantly reading, evolving and listening to others. The advent of the internet has only accelerated this trend. While most use the internet to reinforce their prejudices and beliefs (Fixed Mindset) many use it to enlarge their view of the world, and to explore new horizons (Growth Mindset). Congrats, Dr. Dweck--Kudoes!

Well it actually matters to new teachers. I am a new teacher and I was telling my students fixed praise like, “you are so smart” or “you’re such a great artist”. I didn’t realize how these words impact the students’ mindset until I was shown Carol Dweck in my credential program. It isn’t trivial if it’s changing the way that actual educators work with students and improves the life outcomes for the students.
@marcg10433 ай бұрын
@@shaynamarie3036 if educators aren’t taught those basic concepts in their pedagogical education then what else? This is basic common sense stuff and has been “discovered” 2000 years ago by Roman and Greek philosophers. so the fact that this lady is selling it as their latest discovery is just laughable and speaks to how gullible and uneducated the general population is. She is writing a book about the most simplest concept in human conditioning and repeats the same point over and over in a 300 page book. Its like me writing a 300 page book about the Pythagorean theorem (you know the one with the triangle) and claiming I have tested this many times and it changes the world. Yes that true but its been known for 2000 years. This lady is really taking the micky out of people paying for her book or her classes. Shame on her.

Neanderthals had larger brains than modern humans. Elephants and whales have much larger brains than any human. Size isn't everything.
@jellyfisheyes6 жыл бұрын
This is a common misconception, higher brain size RELATIVE to body size can be correlated with intelligence. Not absolute brain size. Males are, on average, larger than women, thus males and females have an almost identical brain size relative to body size.
