Yours is the first video I've seen where a review included cleaning it out! Thank you. Every other "review" waxes poetic about how great a cup of coffee it makes, then begs for a like and subscribe while never showing how to clean it!

Okay, you've sold me on this. I posted on my FB that we're going camping again for the first time in a long time and my old tiny electric perculator died and I hadn't been able to come up with a good substitute. Someone recommended this. I have a French press, but it's glass, and finicky and you have to get the pots out, and then you can't pack them because they're hot....thanks for showing the coarseness of the coffee. That's not what I would have thought it meant. Those look quite fine to me, so that was very helpful! I also really like the sprayer you have. I feel like I'm so out of touch with camping tech!

I use this in the kitchen quite a bit, need to get it out camping. I've been brewing Sam's 105 Main brand in it, tastes great when brewed cowboy style. Get the water hot, throw in 3 or 4 scoops, then bring it to a rolling boil for 4 minutes. Let it set a bit, add a little cool water, then press. Smoothest coffee with no acidic aftertaste, no indigestion.

Bought one of these because of this video. Yes, it really is a great product. The handles cool down very quickly because of their small mass. Definitely can pick up in under half a minute, sooner if you blow on them.

@6:14 it says in the manual you can boil with the lid on! As long as it's on a stove and not just like on a campfire etc. They say "ok on a stove" to leave lid on for thermal efficiency. But I know some people will set this on a campfire log and balance it.... in that kind of case you don't want to boil with the lid

I, too, love that great piece of kit. I bought one years ago when they first came out (called the Boil-N-Brew). My USMC RECON Son took it for his many deployments in the field. He calls it his LUXURY ITEM. Bought a replacement one for me. Yep, sure enough it was one of the first items put into my Go-Bag when Evacuating from Hurricane Ian. STANLEY simply does it right ✅ 👏.

@TheTechofTech

You can certainly do that, but you’d have to build a fire and deal with all of the flames while not burning yourself. Camp stoves like the one I use are so much more convenient.

Have you tried adding the coffee while it's over the heat?
@Sertao2013
@Sertao2013 Жыл бұрын
Why are you using a different lid ? Doesn’t it come with a fire proof lid ? Why is it tapered at the bottom ? It only makes it harder to fit on stands that might be slightly bigger . Even on your burner it looks like it’s at the very tip of the metal and looks like it’s ready to slip off . Why not just make it straight down for a bigger base ?

This French press is not intended to be the vessel for heating the water. I boil my water in a separate Stanley Adventure Camp Two Cup Cook Set “pot”, which holds 24oz of water, and has its own steel lid. I then fill my French press with my coffee, and pour the heated water up to the fill line of my French press, stir, then let brew for 6 minutes, before pressing the coffee. I use eight tablespoons of ground coffee per pot.

Nice video ….But have you tried the Stanley double walled travel French press . It keeps it hotter for longer …..high temp stability especially while brewing light roasts is important.
@TheTechofTech
@TheTechofTech 2 жыл бұрын
The full press goes into my 30oz insulated tumbler all at once, so the press itself being insulated isn’t that important to me.
@itellsri
@itellsri 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheTechofTech you loose a lot of temperature when brewing for 6-7 minutes in a uninsulated space……it’s a not a big deal for dark roasts …but for light roast coffee temperature is vital . Of all 3Ts important to coffee ( Temperature, time and turbulence ), Temperature is the most important. But end of the day it’s your coffee and your taste as it’s all subjective.
@TheTechofTech
@TheTechofTech 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you shouldn’t start with boiling water in the first place, but I do. The coffee I brew the caveman way is plenty good enough for me, for sure.
@itellsri
@itellsri 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheTechofTech you need to start with Boiling water and it’s the correct method . Caveman method is where you boil the heck out of the bean slurry and kill all nuances ….by the way need your honest feedback as I am planning to buy one. Do you smell any plastic in your brew. Is it an issue as you never know what leaks when plastic insert gets hot ….
