I am also a scratch builder and I sure would build some thing similer. The only thing I'd do diffrently would be to cut lightning holes on top and bottom, then cover the holes with packing tape. In that case, the plane would be even lighter. Great job, keep up the good work!!!

My observation is that cardboard/foamboard construction is far more durable than balsa + covering, if that is what you mean by "wood."
