I have not used the 2.5QT size but I have use the smaller 1.5QT size when I drove a truck over the road team driving. Honestly It would keep coffee piping hot for the first 12hrs then drinkable hot within the 24hrs, afterwards it would become lukewarm. Helped me save a couple bucks too since most truck stops let me fill up for about a dollar.

My dad swore by Stanley and had this one. So when I converted my van into a camper this year I picked up one and their largest food jar, as well. They're both great. I did exactly what you did except put the hot water in the food jar for morning wash up for me and dishes. They are expensive but worth every penny. Good review, Steve 👍⚔️🔥🐴

I have a 30 year old Stanley that I still use to this day. Handle fell of years ago and I bought the plastic replacement handle for it and it has lasted. Great review as always Steve. Hope all is well! Oh and manual I think tells about preheating with water before you use it for coffee.

I think I've had some kind of Stanley thermos since I was 19 and started driving commercial trucks. Your right about the early ones, drop it one time and it was junk. Technology has brought us some great stuff but that hot cup of coffee in the morning from a good thermos is one of those simple pleasures we all enjoy.

I bought a Stanley Thermos from an online auction one time and whatever happens when the vacuum goes bad it didn't work. I called Stanley and they took the information from the bottom of the thermos and replaced it with a larger thermos because they didn't have that particular size in stock. I think it was 1 1/2 quarts. I drink 8 oz at a time so that little cup on top is ideal for me. I had bariatric surgery a while back so I can't do large cups anyway.

I love the 2 I have, the larger one seems to keep coffee hotter for a couple hours longer but smaller one is still perfect. I always pre-charge mine and it does help keep some heat after many hours. Left it in the deer stand all day and was still warm at night, maybe 10 hours in 40 degrees weather.

Another thing people might not be appreciating when they talk about keeping the contents hot is that any portion you pour out to drink is replaced in the thermos with cold air, which the remaining contents heat (out of the existing heat, cooling it down). So if you have a thermos and drink half after 8 hours and the rest an hour after that, the first half could have been piping hot but it is impossible for the second half to be. Whereas, if you don’t open it for 9 or 12 hours it might still have been as hot as at 8 hours.

Some may have said this already, but the standard of measurement for cup is 8 fluid ounces. A proverbial "cup" of coffee can vary by the person, but when it comes to measurement on the side of a coffee pot I'm certain they mean 8 oz cups. I'd wager most coffee mugs in your cupboard are far larger than 8 oz lol. Also, the cup cap is more than decorative or for drinking in a pinch. It adds another barrier for heat loss. Most of the heat loss is through the neck and plug as those only areas that don't have the benefit of a vacuum. The cap shields that area with an added air barrier. I'm pretty sure carrying without the cap would definitely affect heat retention. Hope that helps. Thanks for the video. Love your style and I can tell by the way you prime your Stanley with hot water before putting coffee in it, you know what you're doing. I can trust what you're telling us. Can't beat a Stanley. Reminds me of my dad when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's and him taking it to work daily as a mechanic. It's a tank and has all the battle scars of accompanying a hard working man. Oh the nostalgia!

@@547Rick Thank you sir for replying. Take care of your health at this age. Especially Heart & Brain Health. My grandfather was a Renowned Professor of Mathematics and after retirement he died at the age of 96. He survived Heart Attack at the age of 94 but at the age 95 his brain started degrading. Finally he died next year. I had GREAT affection for him. So PLEASE do Yoga, Pranayams and take Ayurvedic medicines for longevity. It is much more effective than Allopathic medicines. One final question regarding Stanley Thermos --- Did your Thermos still work with the same efficiency after it accidentally fall down ? Can it tolerate (without loss in efficiency) one or more drop from hands ?

The solid stopper is better it keeps my coffee hot some of the earlier Stanley's had a pour through stopper that lost some of the heat thru the stopper replacing the pour through stopper with a solid vacuum stopper should correct any loss of heat issues in an older Aladdin Stanley thermos.

How's she goin'? Hot coffee is important and if this can keep it hot, that's the one you want!!! I think your key to success is putting the boiling plain water in the thermos to heat it up first!!! Good move. Thanks of sharing and take 'er easy!!!

The only problem with this thermos is that it works so well and you tend to use it every day that even with washing out, it tends to develop a film of coffee at the bottom that requires harsh chemicals to get rid off. This problem does not afflict flasks that do not work well because you do not use them much 😁

That's so true , like a tea cup that gets stained I use one ounce of bleech and 6 ounces of warm water to clean up the staining at the bottom. Not sure Stanley recommends it but it works pretty good . Cheers Sanjay 👍

I have the little brother to that one. Mine's a 1.1qt but it look exactly like yours, just smaller. I don't drink coffee but I sometimes drink hot chocolate in winter. I once made hot chocolate around noon on a Friday. I forgot to bring it in the house after work and didn't remember till Sunday night when I went to look for it. It still had about a 1/3 of the bottle of hot chocolate. It was still hot. Not scalding hot, but hot as I'd ever drink it. I've used it for cold things in summer to when I go on a road trip.

Just cleaned a pretty tea and coffee stained flask, no scrubbing just put some oxygen bleach and boiling water. its just sodium bicarbonate mixed with hydrogen peroxide, sold in most supermarkets the brand Oxyclean being one. Its used by brewers as it doesnt damage stainless steel which chlorine bleaches will do, apparently the chlorine reacts with the chromium in the stainless steel. It will bubble up a fair bit but within 10 minutes its lifted the stains off and looks like new. You can also just pop a dishwasher tablet in instead that apparently works well. Plenty vidson youtube showing both if want more info.

That is not a decorative lid…. It’s also vacuum sealed so you actually can use it as an “insulated” cup, but it also ensures that the plastic cap doesn’t get broken if you drop it on the ground and adds to the thermal activity of the thermos itself….

Agreed its a shame but realize that our governments are making industrial ventures in our nations more and more difficult by the day, its not ONLY that the companies are greedy profit seekers even though ofc thats the entire purpose of a company, its that laws and regulations are slowly squeezing out whatever profitability remains.
