I m vacationing in Florida watching & enjoying your videos. Like the vest, the one "caulk scraper" is actually a glazing tool for glass windows, but yes a great gadget tool like the 7 in one tool I carry everywhere and use daily. Like your videos, getting older but still learning. Can't wait to get back to work! Tks Jack the Handyman

Be careful with 9V batteries touching metal. One of the biggest causes of house fires. I recommend putting electrical tape on the terminals.
@renoguy257 жыл бұрын
Yes , lots of house fires with people just chucking them in their junk drawers. you can start a camp fire easy with a 9-volt and some steel wool . My 20 yr old son had a 9-volt sitting on his desk and made contact with a little " Leatherman " type tool . he smelt something not right and just as he looked over , it kind of blew up in his face ... debris into his eye ...hospital trip . .. luckly OK , but good scare .

Tape will come off in really hot weather. They make plastic insulators ( cheap) to cap the terminals

You should take a look at builders/carpenters trousers from Blaklader/Blåkläder. They keep the pockets and gadgets on and bellow the waist and can fit about the same amount of hardware. These trossers also have built in pockets for knee pad inserts. They are the de facto standard work wear in Sweden, among professionals.

A way to handle the hammer not coming out, is to use a D cell flashlight holder normally used on a policeman‘s belt. The ring snaps in easily, and is made of hard plastic, and you can remove the hammer easily.

Id want to put the speed square on the inside of vest if possible, make a suit pocket type. My square catches everything on my belt, it's nice having it contained

How about carabiner clip/S-biner attached to vest that clips to speed square? Its a fairly quick release system. Especially the big S-biners by Nite Eyez at Home Depot
@corydriver76347 жыл бұрын
Have you tried getting the hammer out when the vest is zipped? Taking the slack out of the back of the vest when you had it zipped seemed to put the hammer holster in a better position.

You mean real man size!!!
@dennisleblanc79335 жыл бұрын
Handyman great video on your fat max tool vest. I suggest possibly deepening the bottom of your phone pocket so that you can secure the top of it this to prevent your phone unwanted exit. Also you could improvise a special pocket especially sized ( use a velcro strap to secure it) for your speed square either on you're right or left side your armpit but lower, wherever it doesn't impede your movement. I agree with you're need to get a metal ring for easy access to your hammer. Maybe cannibalize an old belt and relieve it of it hammer ring. Plus use a wooden handle hammer would be much easier to remove it out of the ring.
@michaelhamerin38145 жыл бұрын
Just get a leather hammer hold with a steel loop. It has belt loops.
@lakebum62117 жыл бұрын
I notice a "D" ring on the right front. Maybe use a carabiner on the "D" ring to clip your speed square to or there may be other loops that I didn't see that would work better than the "D" ring. Also, I have a leather hammer holder on my belt that has a metal ring on it. If you could find something like that and have it sewn on the back in place of the one already there, it may be easier to get the hammer out one handed.
@k00k6 жыл бұрын
Add a caribiner to that D-ring next to the cellphone pocket and you can clip your speed square to that.

Hello i have a question how do you charge as far as parts are concerned when you're on a job for example if you're on a job and an outlet needs to be changed do you charge extra for the outlet or just what you paid for it plus your labor cost or another example if you have to replace a toilet fill valve do you charge them what you paid for it and a certain percentage above that plus your labor or just what you paid for it and if that's the case do you always keep those parts in stock
@TheHandyman17 жыл бұрын
I give one price for one job. If something comes up in the job its included in the price. If the customer asks me to fix or do something else its a new job with a new price. My initial price for a job includes all parts and all possible parts I may need. If I start adding a few dollars here and there the customer might think they are getting nickeled and dimed.
@jackofalltradesllc21167 жыл бұрын
The Handyman so do you buy parts as you need them or do you already have parts in stock also do you take a deposit
@TheHandyman17 жыл бұрын
+OCD Carpet Cleaning LLC I stock some parts . I go to the store and buy what I need for the project before it starts. For handyman projects I do not take a deposit. Larger jobs I get 50 percent up front.

You might be able to buy a "stand-alone" metal hammer hanger that's riveted to a leather belt loop that you could sew on the vest. It looks like it might be hot, but probably not so much in northern climates. Thanks for the honest review.
@TheHandyman17 жыл бұрын
That would be easier than forging my own. The back is all mesh so its pretty breathable. It can get hot in the summer.

I got this vest a few months back. I find I use it more and more. I made three modifications. Glued magnets on a piece of metal the size of a business card and slipped it in the business card holder and glued it closed. A magnetic patch to hold screws and nuts. Second, I opening the stitching on the bottom left side to make 2 smaller pockets into one bigger one. Lastly, Glued a Velcro strip to the top of the phone pocket flap. When I put my phone in,the Velcro goes over the phone and attaches to the pockets Velcro under the flap I would like to add a small impact driver holster to the vest somehow. It may be a little heavy then, but it would be easier to put in the holster instead of the floor when I am working on a project. Any ideas?
@TheHandyman17 жыл бұрын
I might have to steal those modifications you made. I think the impact would off set the weight to much on a vest. maybe a belt attachment would work best.

I bought one when I built on to my house. A great vest in all. A word of caution, your 9volt battery; if you keep it in your pouch, place a piece of electrical tape over the connecting ends. That way it wont short out if you have nails in your pouch. I almost started a fire in mine when I was using steel wool. I caught is smoking. Just a small safety tip. Good video. thanks for posting..
