Stanley Force | Eskdale | Lake District | Waterfall | Valley Walks | Circular Hikes | Riverside

If anyone remembers this walk from my instagram you'll know how much I loved this place. I don't really know what it was but the feeling I got here was amazing. It felt much quieter than some of the usual Lake District spots, I only passed a few people on the way upto the waterfall but after reaching the top I had it all to myself.
I set off on this route blind, I hadn't googled the falls so I didn't know what to expect but I couldn't have wished for anything more. The low level path at the start, the forest, the deep gorge, the falls itself and the 'jurassic park' feeling I got at the top. If you're doing any route in Eskdale, I cannot recommend this one enough. For me it was perfect.

Thanks for sharing, Char! We didn't have any normal paths on our hike today either. Normal paths are not exciting either 😊 Your tour was very nice and varied. The contrast between the river, the gorge, waterfall and the wide landscape was great. I think it's very nice when there's a lot of moss in the forest, that makes nature much greener 💚

Eskdale is such a stunning area to explore. The pools and waterfalls along the River Esk from the bottom of Hardknott Pass are amazing. We visited the Stanley Ghyll waterfalls about 3 years ago when the river was in full spate. It was an incredible sight and the viewing point hadnt been erected then so we just led flat poking our heads over the drop. Glad you enjoyed the scenery and thanks for sharing
