Folk Figure. He was the possible biological father of Marilyn Monroe. Charles Stanley Gifford began working with Gladys Monroe Baker, at Consolidated Films, after his wife, Lillian Priester, sued him for divorce. In her divorce petition, Lillian charged Gifford with addiction to narcotics, abuse and with associating with women of 'low character' Gifford, a hypershooter and developer at Consolidated, had began an affair with Gladys earlier that spring. It is believed that Gifford deserted her on Christmas Eve 1925 when she informed him of her pregnancy. Throughout her life Marilyn always believed that Gifford was her father. He settled in Gilman Hot Springs, Riverside County, California and became the owner of some cottage apartments. Stan moved to nearby San Jacinto where he was successful in founding and operating the Red Rock Dairy in the 1960s with a drive through window in the front where customers could obtain dairy products without getting out of their cars. According to employees, it seemed Marilyn would do just that on occasion while en route to Palm Springs, California, while riding in her chauffeur driven limo thus forcing the unbelieving father to fill her order.

Gifford's son Marilyn's half brother Charles Gifford jr. died in 2015 aged 93 in Norfolk, VA. Too bad the family never admitted that Marilyn was their relative.

If Charles Gifford was her true biological father then I am related to her. My DNA tests do show a connection with this Gifford line. Strangely my direct ydna lineage is strongly North Irish and Scottish and could say more of that. I would love to find out if Marilyn's DNA is available anywhere for comparison. I feel so connected with Marilyn but she died when I was very very young

@kurozke Already did a DNA test, and consider myself a professional genealogist and my top matches have been amazing with continuous new matches. I have taken the autosomal, Y-dna and Mt-dna tests and my family tree very perfectly aligns with most of my data. There are a few missing branches, I am awaiting to discover. It is through my Spencer -Gifford lineages which relate to Marilyn's father. This is who Marilyn strongly believed is her father, although it would be good to see Marilyn's DNA to prove it entirely. It is through the autosomal DNA, the breakdown of the individual chromosomal matches to relate specifically with specific lineages which can be proven, with much work. It has taken me many years to do this.
