This is great. Thanks for taking the time to point out the differences. Did not know that. Subbed a few days ago and have been binge watching. Really digging this channel.

I'd like an S5, the riveted soles look sick. Plus I do all of my wood butchery in the backyard on a brick surface. I'm really careful with where I put the planes I'm using, like the table next to my bench, but the thought of one falling off still comes to mind.

Nice job and video. according to the pile of planes you have, we can expect a lot more video's. look forward to them.

Off-topic, but I think that a properly heat treated S5 steel axe or chisel could cut through 1/8 inch mild steel better than conventional alloys.

there must have not been a certain standard when they made these, I saw a S4 on ebay and it has the rivets like the s5.

Hi, I know I am dreaming but if I don't try I will get nowhere. I have a fairly nice using collection of 3 date, corrugated bottom planes-3,4,4 1/2, 5,5 1/2,6,7, 8 and 605 roundside. I have a limited area to choose from and was wondering if you could steer me in the direction of finding a #2 corrugated to somewhat complete my set. I don't want a finished product. I would like to restore it myself. I am a 73 year old guy who is semi retired and I enjoy playing around in my small shop. If you have any info for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jim D.
