Stanley ParkㅣVancouver | Sony FX30

Took a stroll in Stanley Park to test out the K&F Concept Blackmist 1/8 Filter. Everything was shot on the Sony FX30, 120fps, using the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 Lens. Still getting used to shooting on the FX30 and exposing correctly, thus there is some grain and noise in some of the shots.

Awesome footage and story. It looks like you're shooting in 120fps on the fx30, which is going to be noisy in the shadows no matter how much you overexpose. The only way to get clean footage with 120fps on the fx30 is to shoot below base ISO at ISO 200 or exposing Cine EI to be below base. You can expose how you did here while opening up your aperture a little bit, and you'll get clean footage if you do that.

Thanks for the advice! I guess I’ll have to use flexible iso for 120fps. And yes, I may need a faster lens since lowest aperture on my lens is 2.8. I was thinking one of the Sigma primes!

Hey Jun, beautiful shots! Are you shooting in SLOG? The noise levels remind me of my footage before I realized I need to expose at +1.7 to +2.0 while in SLOG (and at the native ISO levels, which for me are 800 and 2500 on the A7RV and I believe its the same for the FX30). That should clean the shots up really quick, and be much more fun to grade. Cheers, look forward to more stuff.

Yeah, I figured that as well! I thought it would fine just exposed normally, but I guess I do have to follow the rule of overexposing in slog3… thank you for the tip!
