@@thomasfransson I ordered one for my backup rollers only FX30. My biggest fear is the autofocus while we shoot highway rollers. Hopefully that's not an issue.

I bought the Tamron because of the image stabilisation. After realising the Tamron's image stabilisation doesn't work when mounted on my ZVE10, I'm selling it and buying the much more compact Sigma.
@thomasfranssonАй бұрын
That's odd, it seems to be working on other people's ZV-E10 cameras. Hope you'll enjoy the Sigma.

i might have asking this pretty late but what’s the aspect ratio of this video? i love it very much
@thomasfransson11 күн бұрын
2:1 A pretty perfect match for smartphone screens and not uncommon on Netflix too 🤣😅
@bendyran11 күн бұрын
@thomasfransson im very used to using 2.39:1 that seeing this was weird at first but its actually amazing😅
@thomasfransson11 күн бұрын
Ha! Glad to stumble upon someone else who also thinks aspect ratios are underrated. Over 90% of the content on my channel is being watched on smartphones, so filling as much as possible on those smaller screens will make a difference in my opinion in terms of viewing experience. I would like to make a video in 19.5x9 which is the aspect ratio of most modern smartphones. Just to see how it would be received.

Great video, just ordered this lens.. Thanks a lot... BTW what LUT are you using to colorgrade? it looks awesome... do you mind sharing?
@thomasfransson2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much it's mostly Fujifilm Eterna with some color wheel adjustments I believe. Some clips in the studio also have a few percent of a Kodak Vision3 LUT on top. You should be able to find lots of free eterna and Vision3 luts on the web
Thomas, I have to said that you have absolutely honest and amazing reviewer. No so much reviewer talk about the negative side from this lens ( in my country) they talk about the positive side of this lens.For me the major issue will be the motor's sound which quite pretty annoy.

If i use this camera with my Sony a6700 in a foggy environment, will that ruin my camera or lens?

Not likely unless it's used in that sort of environment every day. As always make sure to unpack gear and let it air after shooting in damp/rainy conditions.

Can using the gimbal like this damage it? Changing the lens millimeters
@thomasfransson8 күн бұрын
I would say no. But not re-balancing will obviously increase the amount the motors have to work and this increase the power consumption and shorten the battery life.
@xpwillx7 күн бұрын
@@thomasfransson What zoom lens would you recommend to use on the zve10 and a gimbal that doesn't harm the gimbal battery? I don't know which lens is best, so far all the lenses I've seen that I liked either have external zoom or are dark
@thomasfranssonКүн бұрын
I don't think it's going to harm the battery, the motors just need to work harder which will consume more battery than if you have it nicely balanced where the camera basically flows perfectly even without the gimbal turned on. For the ZV-e10 I'd probably recommend the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 if you’re looking for a zoom lens. It's a few grams lighter than the camera body which is always easier to work with and will counter balance the extending barrel.

great video, I want that lens, it seems very versatile, but I don't have a gimbal so I'm worried that this lens doesn't have oss, do you think it's better that I buy a 35mm with oss?
@thomasfransson5 ай бұрын
You could always use active steady shot for hand held. It crops in a bit but takes a lot more of the shakes out. And shakes are usually less noticeable if you’re shooting at a wider focal length. Another option would be the Tamron 17-70 which has image stabilization. I did a comparison between the Sigma and Tamron in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6nZm6WBp5imrc0si=s2YCq20zjDIXwieu Personally I think 35mm on an aps-c camera can be a bit tight a lot of times.
@framebyata5 ай бұрын
I have this lens and fx30 I wanted to know this lens gives the exact 18mm focal or have 1.5x crop factor?
@thomasfransson5 ай бұрын
An 18mm lens is always an 18mm lens, no matter if it's a full frame, aps-c or mft lens. It's the sensor size that attributes the crop factor. If you want to match an 18mm lens on a full frame camera in terms of field of view - you would have to take the crop factor of the FX30's aps-c sensor into consideration and use a 12mm lens - 12mm x 1.5x = 18mm

@@Image1Nation Not enough for me; the 18-50mm would be amazing
@p4ul.f70811 ай бұрын
because of physics. The apsc sensor is smaller than the full fram sensor, which means this lens which was made for apsc would not even fill the whole frame on full frame. But Jason Wong did a video on showing how he uses the sigma 18-50 you might want to check that it. Because in theory you can use this lens on full frame, you just have to crop the image a bit so that it fills the frame. For video this is an even smaller problem because there most of the time the stabilzation crop is already enough to fill the frame

Have yoi heard of the metadata that's accompanied with the fx3/fx30 allowing you RAW controls with the internal codec?

My Sigma 18-50 makes a little noise when focusing, I can only hear it at night. It is not very noticeable, but it is there (for example my Sony 35mm 1.8 makes no noise at all). Does your copy make also a little noise when focusing or is only mine? Cheers!
@thomasfransson10 ай бұрын
Nothing that I've picked up on by ear or in recorded audio. But I've not had my ear directly against the lens. I wouldn't be surprised if the motor was giving off some faint "purr" when focusing. Does the sound get picked up in the audio?
@vrikkemann0078 ай бұрын
My copy actually makes quite a bit of noise, especially in continuous AF. I can't remember if it has always been like this, or if it started making noise lately... Have your lens started making more noise, or has it been the same all along?
