For the best visibility in skidsteers, I suggest you test out a JCB. Possibly the Telehandler model which can pile snow up far further and higher. The JCB also has a side door, so no climbing over the plough linkage.

He’s not going to do that I agree with you but jcb make all Volvo skid steers because Volvo doesn’t care about the skid steer market at all and volvo doesn’t enforce quality control on jcb (kinda like the Chevy vs Gmc quality control) or stock parts so for it so it became a hated piece of equipment in his company because of breakdowns and maintenance

Been a Cat man for over 20 years, and they are the very best in my opinion. Power, dealer back up, and ability to take abuse and keep running make all the difference. Branding doesn't matter when the job needs to be done. Cat typically outperforms everybody. Price is typically higher than off brands but try to fix them when they're broken. The best value for the dollar come from a more expensive machine's performance in the long run. Parts price can be prohibitive to some contractors, but longevity in the long run can make a difference.

I have a new CAT skid 239D3 machine. So far after 2 years love it and they do have that hole plugged up now with a rubber blocker plate that stops the hoses from rubbing too. I’m a CAT guy but then again my area they are the closest dealer to me out of any of the brands and that’s still a 3 hour drive for me. Any other dealer is a 4 plus hour drive so I unfortunately don’t have much choice in brands.

Far as replacement skid loader, I would go with whatever you had the least number of issues. Since the Cat was a lemon, I would go with something that you have proven track record with. Unless you see the Cat have changed the engineering issues. Then I might want to give it another try. But I rather stick with something that I feel like I could trust.

Not to be pedantic, but technically not a Jake brake. Jake brakes float the exhaust valves to interrupt the combustion process. This truck has an exhaust brake, which is a butterfly similar to the throttle body of a gasser behind the turbo in the done pipe, which restricts exhaust gas from exiting the engine / turbo, effectively slowing the engine down. Super cool tech regardless. I'm not much of a truck dude, but I've towed a few things in my life. By far the biggest and heaviest thing I ever towed was a 26 foot enclosed race trailer behind a friend's 2014 chevy 2500hd. This truck had an exhaust brake, the Allison 5 speed with transmission braking, and trailer brakes. Was exiting interstate 70 at 75mph, signaled, lifted off the throttle and by the time I was at the end of the ramp for the traffic light, the truck had stopped itself without me doing anything. Was an amazing towing experience, and no heavy duty work truck should be any different, in a perfect world. Congrats on the diesel, Alex. Super nice truck you got there. Thanks for sharing, Stan.

On the CAT, fab a shet metal cover over the line housing and tack weld it on. Will fix that trash being tossed in. I'm an actually surprised you guys done have the equiptment to fab your own lines. Most places I know that have more than 3 or 4 machines just buy the crimper and rolls of different size lines and fittings. As far as getting a new loader, is there one you have not used before? If not, try it. I am seeing this new trend of guys ordering no name equiptment from alibaby at SUUUPER cheap prices and waiting the 30-60- days for it to get here. One guy bought a mini loader for like 8K new. Loves it. Maybe try that if you have time to wait for the import.

The 2011 Chevy’s started having exhaust brake. Cummins pickups had exhaust brakes for awhile. I will say Alex needs to turn the exhaust brake on whenever driving the truck not just for trailering. So hey in the truck, hit the button, make it a habit! It keeps the vanes in the variable geometry turbo moving otherwise they stick and you have to replace the turbo sooner than later.

The Cat track loaders would be nice if you could get rid of that torsion axle and make a shroud to protect those hoses to the drive motors and keep the dirt out. Don't buy a new Cat Stan in any group or forum I've seen they are nothing but trouble. Stay with your Kubota's. I'd love to give a Manitou/Gehl a try and Takeuchi. Skid-steers shouldn't have suspension it makes it too difficult to grade decently with these torsion bar systems.

The only skid loader I’d buy is a JCB simply for the side entry of the cab, and it’d preferably be the teleskid model for the reach. But I’m also a wheel loader operator more than a skid loader guy, as long as the articulation point is in front of the operator not the operator swinging with the front half of the machine like that cast loader Stan has
@nosam6002
@nosam6002 Жыл бұрын
I've run alot of different skid steers and have found they all have their problems. Track loaders are more maintenance intense than their wheeled brothers. Some guys get hung up on brand loyalty, which isn't a bad thing because they get very familiar with the equipment. Familiarity helps with maintenance and repairs. Not having to have a service truck come out because you can do your own work saves money, as long as it is done right. Personally, I run New Holland because I am very familiar with the product. Is it better than other machines? Not really. I prefer the ergonomics of the CAT and ASV. My thought is run what keeps you productive and as comfortable as possible. I still use my old LX885 on occasion because I know that thing inside and out, have replacement parts on the shelf and it has been very reliable.

The American diesel pickups are all impressive. I've driven all but the Ford. DEF, fuel gouging, and electrical gremlins are the downside. The transmissions are impressive. They make some beautiful sounds hauling in mountains or rush hour. My only dislike with the old school T-case shifter is not being able to shift on the fly. Even if it says you can I've never seen one work. Nothing like being in freeway traffic at speed in 4 high and hit bare pavement on a curve.

First off that is not a Jake brake. Jake's are compression brakes and that is done internally with the engine valves. Ford, GM and dodge have exhaust brakes as optional equipment on diesel trucks. All the exhaust brake is a flap that limits the air out of the exhaust. I would like to see a New Holland C345 or a C362 loader on this page
