Great video, Stan! I’m a young annuity agent but i’ve learned a lot from you and incorporate PILL into my presentation. Thank you for helping me understand what i’m selling

Well that sucks for some situations. Of course I believe in a 1 year emergency fund. However when I get my growth portfolio to my target dollar amount I will be looking at an income portfolio. I was running your SPIA calculator and that got me interested a lot. I just sent over a couple questions though. Thanks for sharing.

I’m trying to learn and hear honest talk about Annuities. Nice 👍 video on a subject like Annuities. PILL is a good acronym to go by. Keep it up.

To each their own. Remember when deciding that if you have SS, you already have an annuity. If you delay to 70 to max out the monthly payment and COLA (the same as buying a deferred annuity at age 62 that starts payment at 70), that can provide some inflation protection along with TIPS. Personally I don’t need the income and don’t want the tax consequences of more forced income.

Could you point me to some information that shows that the annuity industry doesn’t want you to invest more than 50% of your assets in an annuity? My financial advisor wants me to plop 65% of my assets into a fixed indexed annuity (I am 63). I am concerned that he is advising this in part because of the large commissions of these contracts.

Alan, the carriers determine their own suitability guidelines based on the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transaction model regulation. You can find information about the suitability guidelines at NAIC.org. We have been told by various carriers that the maximum they will allow is 50% but because it is determined by each individual carrier that will vary. What are you trying to solve for with the fixed indexed annuity? Principal Protection, income? If you aren't comfortable putting 65% of your assets into an annuity you shouldn't do it, no matter what the company or agent says. Thank you for watching!

Stan, how the heck do I get one of your t-shirts or hats? (I'll pass on the track suit, no offense intended) Gotta get the annuity "word" out there!

We are looking into offering "merch". We will make an announcement on the website when we do.

This sounds like investment advice Stan. Do you have a designation that can give investment advice?
@StanTheAnnuityMan3 жыл бұрын
Annuities are not investments. They are insurance products. I do not give investment advice.

Stan, if we were to purchase a SPIA annuity through you, what’s your percent cut?
@StanTheAnnuityMan3 жыл бұрын
We don't get a "cut" of the money you put into a SPIA. The insurance company pays us from their general fund. 100% of the money you put in goes into your policy. The commission on a SPIA is generally 2% - 3%, but again that is not paid by you.

@@StanTheAnnuityMan That sounds like a win win. It will be years before I'm ready. Looking forward to the day. TTYL

@@StanTheAnnuityMan of course it does just as every overhead comes from customer money. My answer is that Customer should examine if they think they have another avenue to generate the income and manage the money when they are addled and ill in old age. Of course most people think orgs don’t need overhead and my answer is kinda rude.

In your first pie chart the 40 and 60 were flip flopped as 40% represented a larger piece of the pie
