You should try dropping your bait down to 200’ during the day and you’ll probably catch the bigger tuna like 50 to 100 lbs. All the small ones feed at the surface during the day. That’s how it works in Hawaii anyway but I’m not sure if it’ll work like that in the Keys. Usually there is a big school of small tuna on the surface like 5 to 15 lbs and if you see depth recorder marks down at 30 fathoms or 180 ft you can catch larger tuna. This channel has inspired me to try catching a Swordfish in Hawaii. No one ever catches them but apparently long line fishermen catch them all the time. If you ever come to The Big Island Hawaii and are on the Kona coast I’ll take you to fish at some private buoys. 🤙 Aloha

Lucky you had the new laser. I had it done 20 years ago on a crude laser and it failed over the 20 years. I had something wrapped around my retina and a Dr at Mayo Hospital removed it. I will go back in a year or 2 to have my lens replaced to gain back my vision.

First blackfin I caught off Savannah was on a cedar plug plastic that was sinking as we were fighting other tuna. All our blackfins are large size. Yellowfins have basically disappeared over the years, you need to be up at oregon inlet for yellow fin big eye and blue fin. What is hard to believe that they used to catch 80 to 100 pound yellow fin just a mile or 2 off Miami beach in the 1980's. You ask a captain now he will say you must mean Venice.

Not really to be honest. We bled all these tunas, but some still have some blood when we fillet them. Might be because some get pics first and not as much comes out.

@luderickwong3 жыл бұрын
grilled tuna…i guess i have to talk a bit about culture difference yes, you can grill tuna, even the japanese will use dry hay "fast burn" the surface and leave the core half cook. but a completely well done grill tuna is something i will pass. is there any well done tuna dish in asia? yes, may be next time if you want to know. besides the method, there are difference on which part is the best taste too. you love the leone, which is the fish back, but on the other side of the planet, people love the belly, which you use as swordfish bait. what? am i kidding? if you go to a sushi shop, a toro sushi probably is the most expensive thing in the shop. what is that pink meat come from? it is the belly meat from a hugh fat black fin tuna. you can always double check that with any sushi chef to see if that's true or not. actually everytime when i saw the japanese watching your channel and see you cut away the belly as bait, they drop their jaws and eyes wide open 🤣
