You probably know this? If you import a low poly model into Blender, you can subdivide until happy, then export as .obj or .stl. It does require a good solid manifold model to begin with, but your base model seems to be. I have found that you can create poly until your computer about chokes, but when you drop it into a slicer it doesn't seem to care. Some day please do an NCC-1701D Enterprise? I am terrible at hard surface modeling (pretty good at sculpting, oddly) or I'd tackle it myself. I cannot find any good files to even start from, which is really surprising to me. Friend of mine would love a large-ish TNG Enterprise.

I did try subdividing in Blender and in C4D but while it softens the curves it also rounds out all the panel lines. Enterprise D is an absolute classic but I prefer the J. 🤔😎

Awesome, glad you picked the larger scale :-) I really should start on a Slave 1, but working on my own functional submersible 😂 Looking forward to your journey (again) 😀

Forgiven for not starting a Slave 1 as a sub is very 😎. Hope you enjoy project Milano. 🙂

Thank you for doing this! I just found your channel and subscribed. Big models are my thing so I’m all in on this one.

Thank you, still lots to do. 🙂

your slave design are epic, for the Milano, i think the perfect scale are the 72, for the dimension and quality, the 48 are massive, but too massive! gg for this new project!

Thanks for the feedback. The beauty of 3D printing is that you can scale and print out at whatever size you like. If I produce files for 1/48 it will be easy to scale down to 1/72. 🙂

What design software / program do you use. I have been having bad luck with working with .stl files
@StaplesandVine10 ай бұрын
Hi, I use Cinema 4D for all my 3D design work. It is a lot easier to use than Blender, but pricey.

Yeah Gambody models are very well known for being inaccurate.

Yes, they are rather disappointing. Fortunately there are others out there who do a great job on the classic ships.

Imo I think 1/48th will suit your style more

Thanks, when I release the files I'll make sure they will work in 1/72 scale as well. Now I've just got to create some shelf space... 🤔
