The news hit me harder then the FTX implosion. What made that turmoil a mere speed bump was the scale and fidelity of the Showroom and dogfighting module. I will be here for whatever happens. I hope my gut is wrong and blinded by bias or desire for the game I built in my head. We shall see. But…I’ve shared this feeling before-what happens if we wake up and are told there is no runway left? Well, maybe we build it ourselves. It would be 1000x more complicated but the impetus for this feeling was what the Titanfall 2 community did with Northstar. My ask is for the Team to just consider this: allow community members to propose modules or modes that will add “portals” to the Showroom. The Team could reject proposals or allow one or many to go to the next stage. Let’s say a 3v3 fps mode is proposed. It gets greenlit and the community team develops it to a playable mode. ATMTA could determine and shape the quality by then offering access to their 3D models. Perhaps their is fear that their assets will be released to the wild-but could their not be a contract signed? If this is not possible then just allow it to be branded as UGC. As the years progress there could be many portals to community made modules and experiences. In UE5. Perhaps there won’t be people who would do this. Except there already has been an example__Lumina’s shooter mode. Maybe ATMTA would allow skins to be sold for these modes and the community devs could share this revenue stream. This is the entire business model of Roblox. In FR Michael explained this probably isn’t possible. That the Team wants a high quality product. We are on the cusp of a future where we will be able to prompt a movie into existence, or have GPT plug-ins native in UE5 (just as Adobe now offers diffusion models). I am confident quality will be possible. But what would be missing is IP. The actual 3D models ATMTA owns. A community team could develop a Ship Skin module. Would it not be possible to allow a community team to request the resources that would enable a way to design and deploy ship and avatar skins? A new player enters a section of the Showroom and can walk around and shop for a bunch of new skins that again-ATMTA could control the quality of each module and only ship the portal if it meets their standards. I’m sure there are many points to push back on. I hope I can look back on this comment and laugh at myself for ever doubting that SAGE and the mobile app would be the silver bullet. Just get us to the next stage a year later………to then ramp up UE5. But who knows where technology will be a year from now. Look at how fast text to video is progressing. Why not embrace all the new tech? Why not allow a community team to fill a section of the showroom with generative Agents that are fun to interact with (maybe as ship sales people or agents who can explain all the lore?) Again…I hope I am wrong. Only time will tell.

I personally am most excited for SAGE. So this news speaks to me, saying, "We see what you truly want and are committed to fulfilling that." The UE5 gameplay so far has been simple and minimal. So I hope, in the future, the story and gameplay can be the focus for the showroom.

Yes, personally excited to play SAGE as I found the showroom mind numbingly boring

I think holding back on the UE5 could be smart,. hold up until AI can automate that, faster cheaper. Resources ought, i believe, to be invested in the breadth of the political/economic aspect and the identity/faction social aspects as well.... finetuning that IV into SOL blockchain is also a must

Many in the community were split on the decision to focus on UE5 and Web GL simultaneously. I guess we will see tomorrow. Check out our live stream of the AMA!
