Thanks for the great showcase! I really liked the "narrated duel" type form this video had. You were very clear on the WHY behind your actions, even during the thick of it when taking fire from all the adds. Love the timestamps and sectioning as always. I'd love to see a video like this on using the Eclipse or the Retaliator for doing group ERT/ERTs! I just made 800k in 2hrs doing VHRT + Group VHRT[edit: accidentally said ert when editing paragraph originally] at the same time. (Stop at whatever planet the single VHRT is on and do it before doing group target at that planet. Although this requires a lot more starmaping.) and then when Group was down I switched to Group HRT/HRTs using same method. Focusing main target and leaving seems a lot more profitable than trying to death-orbit a hammerhead for 12 minutes haha. Afterwards I messed around for about an hour with combat beacons. One of the High beacons had 2 Connies, a reclaimer, and a hammerhead. Needless to say my gimbaled ghost was no match and I was unable to protect the target. The critical had an Idris! These MIGHT be okay with fully crewed ballistic redeemer, or a full crew on a retaliator(Need the multiple torps for Idris, eclipse wouldn't be enough) but I'm sure the Sentinel would be able to do Low/Mediums with ease. It's just not as repeatable, stable and thereby profitable as these bounties are.
@shawnc51882 жыл бұрын
A tally will get you, assuming all your tops hit, 195k (at max rep) in 20 minutes, for 1 gERT And 3 ERTS, the mission respawn rate for gERT is slower, so you should do that first, then do the singles. For Idris, I’ve found a four torp opening salvo might be enough. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKebgKmDZ7WSbdU
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind feedback, I really appreciate it! And yeah I was considering doing one with a Retaliator as well if this one got good feedback. Part of the problem about the retaliator one is that there isn't really *that* much interesting to say over the course of an hour, since the combat doesn't really change. No matter what your target is you just want to fire your torp from about 4k away while going about 300m/s, and then speed up and run away lol. I might do a shorter 1-2 group ERT version with it just for folks who want to see it in action though. When you were doing the ERT + Group ERT were you doing it all in a hornet? If so, that's REALLY good! That's the type of payouts I'd expect from a torpedo bomber since hammerheads take a LONG time to kill for any other ships thanks to the smarter AI constantly rotating the weakened shields away from you. The HRT-level combat makes more sense for a hornet since they're pretty effective up to VHRTs IMO, but I'm curious if you managed that type of income on ERTs with a hornet. I want to see that! And yeah I still think the beacons are more profitable than doing the regular VHRTs since you usually have much less quantuming and traveling, and the combat seems to be faster, but the issue is (like you also mentioned) availability and repeatability. They're adjusting payouts and availability in the PTU right now so we'll see where it lands. That's also why I've held off on making a video about it since I had recorded a lot of footage before they adjusted the payouts so I want to wait to see where it lands before i potentially record more outdated footage.

Thanks so much for your kind words and your feedback! Yeah I might not do a full hour of group ERTs because there isn't as much combat strategy involved there. I pretty much do the same thing regardless of who the target is and who else is there. Wait at around 5-8k until the "Neutralize" marker is on the target, the target has turned red, and then get two full missile lock rings on the target while flying towards them at 300-350m/s and fire from 4k out. It almost always hits as long as i follow that strategy. But yeah I might do maybe a 20-30 min session just to see if I can get an instance where things don't go well so people can see what I think about recovering from it is. And yeah, the eclipse is fantastic for group ERTs. Personally, I have a retaliator because I like having 6 torpedoes instead of 3, and typically i will just spend all 6 torpedoes and then claim the ship so that it restocks for free, and while it's claiming i'll just do group VHRTs in my other combat ships lol.
@UnpluggedCordTTV2 жыл бұрын
I just used my arrow after I crashed in my ghost, and the arrow seems very good even at vhrts as well. I was shocked at how much dps fully gimbaled arrow put out, was able to kill wardens in just a few joust into merge passes to stay on top/rear of vanguard. I agree with need for using torps on ERTs for speed. Hopefully they don't nerf s9's to below 1shot threshold in future!! I like that I can do multiple groups if I don't miss in the retaliator but it is very slow and has a long claim time/cost. Need to test more to see if eclipse mobility and faster and claim time is better. With the retaliator you really do have to use thrusts to align and quantum away or else the pack will tear you to shreds if you try to just autopilot joust past them (top speed is like 600 in the retaliator)
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
@@UnpluggedCordTTV I agree that the retaliator is a lot slower than the eclipse and can be a pain to pull up to quantum b/c of how poorly it handles but I haven't had any struggles with getting close to being blown up. I am usually flying around 350m/s when I launch the torp and as soon as I fly past the target and it blows up I immediately boost + pull up to gain as much altitude as i can and then swing around to find a quantum marker once I've gotten high enough. The shields almost always go down but the retaliator has SO MUCH HULL hp that I've never felt like I was in any danger. I've even put it at autopilot on the SCM speed and gotten into the turret and killed a VHRT-level target that way when my torp missed once lol. It's a tanky beast. And i think it's max speed is around 900, but it'll be much slower in any moons with atmosphere (like Daymar). As for claim times, I think the eclipse has roughly half the claim time of the retaliator - I checked this too back when we had access to both of them to see which would be more "efficient" lol. Perhaps the faster speed of the eclipse could make it more efficient if you're going to be paying to restock the ship since you'll be able to grind out a lot more bounties if you're able to close the distance and get away faster, but if you're doing the claim strategy (which is what I typically do) I think the retaliator is better. What I often do is do a group ERT, and then either: 1. do a single ERT, then another group ERT. I make sure to save 1 torp for the hammerhead which I usually find in the first two targets, and then take out another ship to finish the group ERT and then do group VHRTs/singleVHRTs while the retaliator claims 2. wait 5 mins after doing a group ERT... browse youtube or reddit, and then get back to it with the new group ERT.

Great video. Your description of your actions during play is helpful for new players like myself to see the decision making going into prioritizing targets, setting power priority, and some dogfighting. What's your take on the Vanguard variants? I see you're not using the EMP so why the Sentinel vs the Harbinger for the torp for pretty much the same price?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback and I'm really glad that this was useful for you! I think the Sentinel is the best Vanguard in-game right now, hands down. It's the cheapest to buy and the most effective for a solo pilot thanks to having the maximum missile loadout (minus the 3xs5 torps of the harbinger) and being the most agile. All of the vanguards have the same thrust outputs but they all have slightly different weights. The lightest vanguard will therefore be the most agile, and that is the Sentinel. The Warden and the Hoplite are pretty similar in weight, but the Warden is significantly more expensive in-game and the Hoplite has fewer missile hardpoints than the Sentinel. The Harbinger is about 40% heavier than the Sentinel and therefore the Sentinel is about 40% more agile than the Harbinger, and that actually ends up mattering in combat a lot IMO. Yes, the pitch/roll/yaw maximum amounts are the same across Vanguards but the thrusters actually moving the ship around and getting to those maximum rates depends on the agility of the ship. The Harbinger does get those 3 s5 torpedos and a slightly stronger turret for the gunner, but I don't think that outweighs the huge maneuverability disadvantage it comes with. if you're buying with real money, I'd suggest getting the Warden instead though since that's the dedicated combat variant and the Sentinel is the Electronic Warfare variant, so it might lose some of it's straight up combat capability down the line when EWAR gets implemented.

great video! i've been debating about getting the sentinel again this patch, but after seeing this, i think i will and give this a try. one thing about one of group VHRTs getting killed for you, i have been doing a lot of bunker missions, and i've noticed (since this patch) there have been VHRT like enemy AI that spawn above the facility where i'm doing my mission. i've lost my ship like this a couple times, but the facility turrets often then take out the enemy AI if i stand there and watch for a while, so it might be something like that (or players taking them out if they're doing their bunkers with beefy ships that can take some abuse while parked outside). another good reason to be doing the group VHRTs.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And yeah the sentinel is fantastic. I've also noticed sometimes my VHRT spawns and there are 6 ships there, so I think sometimes there might also be duplicated spawns which make have another bounty hunter killing your target for you, but yeah I'll take bugs in my favor for once :)

Nice content, but a tip for you......Set your marker to jump out once you get to your target's location. That way once you kill your target, you just aim for the jump point you already set and jump away. It doesn't seem like that would make much of a difference, but it does. (Edit) Just read Det's post that said basically the same thing. lol.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
haha yeah that's a fair point. I know I could do that but I'll be honest I just really don't like fussing with the star map. You're right though it'd definitely save 5-10seconds per combat encounter, potentially more if there's multiple OMs and I can set the marker to a more efficient OM. I guess ultimately I'd rather just pay that small tax instead of zooming in on the star map each time, but I appreciate you sharing this tip - it will definitely be helpful for any others checking out the comments. You can actually turn off the quantum drive while in a jump without falling out into realspace. So you don't have to fiddle with it while boosting in. When going to repair, if you set a destination in map view, you can reset destination again without having to select it when you come out of quantum, and it'll put a bracket on your HUD without the quantum drive spooled up. I make use of that for cargo runs.
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
oh interesting, do you know if this works in 3.18? They seem to have fiddled a bunch with quantuming and aligning in that patch

@@WingZeroType I have no idea, but I make use of it when doing cargo hauling in my C2 and I will definitely find out when 3.18 drops. Couple of minor tips on QTing. If you want to go from Celling to Daymar, you don't have to go all the way to Yela. Just quit your QT to Yela shortly after you start it and Crusader will be out of the way. Alternatively, but it's slower, you can start and stop jumping to Crusader and then you will be able to see the OM markers around the planet after the short jump. So you can jump to OM1 and then to Daymar directly. I use this a lot when jumping to Crusader or Hurston because if you let it go all the way in, then it's a pain to find the closest marker, then go to OM1 or whatever to get to the station. Also at the end of the fight I typically boost away like you do, but then decouple and find the next marker if I can rather than running to the nearest OM to avoid getting chased and then working out the next jump. Saves a few seconds maybe. Good video.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I knew about the cancelling of Quantum inside crusader space but I tried it recently and it didn't work for me, so I thought they changed it. I'll have to try it again - if that still works that's a nice update! Another nice thing about going to OM1 on top of crusader is that if you're going to PO (like I do) then you can get there in a single jump from OM1, instead of 2 jumps if you're outside of the planet's OM-space. And yeah I stopped trying to look for lots of OMs while decoupled because sometimes the enemies will fire more missiles at me and one time I didn't burn enough decoys to send it away from me and it actually disabled my ship lol. Another time I got crashed into by a light fighter. So now I just try to get away ASAP. But yeah I appreciate you sharing the tip about the crusader quantuming, it's great to hear that it's still working!
@gatorpika2 жыл бұрын
@@WingZeroType It works fine for me. Try holding B until it drops out. One wrench Chris just threw in the process is that if you target a jump point manually the game often sets the target in the map screen, so unfortunately you have to hit F2 and hit clear target before you can see all the points again to find the next one. I am hoping we eventually can see all of the OMs when they redo the maps, but discovering that a partial jump toward crusader will show me all of the OMs and I can go directly to OM1 then PO or whatever has been pretty huge. Jumping all the way to the planet, then trying to find the closest OM to jump to before I could go to OM1 was a pain. As for missiles, set your decoy count to 2 and they will be more effective (right/left alt-H increase and decrease the count). You will see the deploy count in red above the decoy inventory on the HUD. 2 will spoof most missiles, especially launched from range. Only exception is EM missiles (lighting bolt icon) that are bugged now and will often ignore decoys. For that you have to make a hard maneuver to the side as they converge and the beeping gets fast. I mostly corkscrew in a smaller fighter, but in a big ship you might just try a boosted side strafe.

@@gatorpika thanks! Yeah I knew about the decoy salvos but I often try to be stingy and just use 1 for thermal and CS missiles lol. But yeah later in the video once I was ready to restock I bumped up the salvo count since I was gonna restock soon anyway. I love how instructive you are with your comments though! The world needs more folks like you
@gatorpika2 жыл бұрын
@@WingZeroType Yeah, missiles other than EM are bad enough that 1 decoy probably does it most of the time. Last patch I was mostly not even using countermeasures and would just evade them as the converged. I just like using 2 though because you mostly don't have to worry about being hit or popping a second if the first one doesn't take while trying to hold your aim. I have not done long bounty grinds lately so maybe running out is an issue if you go an hour straight or whatever. I have most of the ships I want so I am just having fun mostly this wipe and doing other stuff like bunker rep grinding, PVP bounties for fun, etc. My org has a lot of helpful people who are always passing info back and forth on the various loops so just something I am used to.

It also has has slightly more hull hp. I didn’t realise that it was 40% more sluggish than the Sentinel since those numbers arent shown on Erkul… has anyone ever tested this? Thanks again for the good vid👍
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you found this helpful! And yes, the harbinger is a lot slower than the sentinel in the G-forces that it can pull. And yep, I've tested it myself! Check out the "transversal mobility tab of this spreadsheet for the G-forces that ships can pull in different directions: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dtwkz8izPCwhwiaK5YbAVqr7x4P6ZNRHp_GaaEQrQHA/edit?usp=sharing And it's true the harbinger gets -15% energy damage reduction but the sentinel gets -10% so the harbinger is only a bit more tanky in that respect. Personally, I find the mobility to be much more important, but you should get whatever ship makes you happy, and if you're effective with the harbinger then that's totally cool

Love the video! Quick question, with all the Vanguard variants, which one do you prefer?
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Personally, I prefer the Sentinel. When it comes to combat in 3.19.1 it's really a choice between the harbinger and the sentinel, since the other two variants don't really offer any combat bonuses. The torps of the harbinger are nice, but I feel like the acceleration penalties are too great and I'd much rather have the more agile ship with the EMP and lose the 3 size 5 torps.

Hey sorry I had responded to your comment but I guess it didn't post. Yep I try to make it so that I land on the enemy at around SCM speed, so I'm speeding towards them and am braking down towards the SCM speed as I'm getting to weapons range. And then I'm side strafing so that rather than flying straight past them in a "joust" I actually end up circling around them using A and D, and once I'm actually in that sort of circling orbit i'll roll my ship using Q/E and then up/down strafe using space/ctrl since those are the strongest maneuvering dimensions. I use dual joysticks so I'm not actually pressing those keys, but those are the default keys if you're using mouse/keyboard :)

A head tracker is really nice. You can just glance down and look at the displays you can't currently see. Or look up to see a fighter above. Takes a little getting used to, though. I prefer it though, and I disabled all forms of automatic look-ahead - if I'm not using the tracker I want to not have the viewpoint shift around. Also, might be a thought to set your quantum destination while you're traveling in to kill the first target - so it's already on Yela when you kill it. Just go straight to quantum and head for the next guy. Granted, this is all coming from a shit pilot, I only barely passed my group HRT eval mission.

Yeah I agree that a head tracker would be really cool, I just want to make it so that my videos are a bit more widely applicable to more ppl so I don't use one. I just use free look to look around while outside of combat instead. But who knows I might change my mind down the line lol. It's always tempting. And yeah I know I could be a bit more efficient with the starmap but honestly it annoys me which is why I don't use it lol. Lots of times it makes me need to manually clear the route before it'll let me quantum away from combat which isn't worth the hassle for me personally. But I appreciate you sharing the tips, I agree they're both good things to do

@@WingZeroType Yeah the starmap is an atrocity, full stop. Trying to do something like run a trading route is painnn. Awesome video. Just started using the sentinel so it’s nice watching a how-to on vhrt’s. I’m curious as to why you don’t use your EMP’s much though. I’ve noticed that even within 200m at full charge they don’t seem to effect my targets. I’ll drop their shields and hit them expecting their ship to shutdown but I’m not seeing that. Am I doing it wrong?
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And I didn't use my EMP back in 3.17 because I was running a hybrid loadout and I wanted to have separate weapon groups for my lasers and my ballistics. In 3.19 I don't think Hybrid loadouts are any good anymore for VHRTs so I'm just running a full laser cannon loadout and I do use my EMP now. I have seen it impacting the enemy via doing some shield damage, and occasionally (but rarely) I have seen the shields go down but it's not common, and I can't be sure it was the EMP that did it. I have definitely seen the EMP take small chunks out of their shield though, so I don't try to use it for the distortion damage as much as I just use it as some added DPS with a small potential of maybe shutting down that pesky front shield that doesn't take damage. Most ships in the VHRT-tier have really really high distortion resistance on their powerplants so aiming for a full shutdown isn't really feasible anymore unless you're stacking a bunch of distortion damage via your guns as well

I thought my skills have declined in 3.17.2 but it just looks like you seem to face the same problems. I am new to the game, two weeks in, and cant find a single thing in the shop right now that I like. I am FIXATED on the Vanguard, and Fleet week cannot come faster. I was first focused on the warden, but I like the idea of the EMP stuff on the Sentinel. Could you give me a rundown on why you fly the sentinel instead of the warden and why? I'm stuck between the two. Thanks!
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
Welcome to the game!!! Fleet week is about a month away so hang in there! You'll be able to try out all the ships for free (although you won't be able to change their default loadouts, unfortunately). Honestly I consider the sentinel and the warden pretty interchangeable in the current patch, and I fly the sentinel because I don't own a vanguard and I buy them in-game and the sentinel is over a million aUEC cheaper while having slightly better directional acceleration. The warden has slightly higher top speed, but that's rarely an actual factor right now. If you're buying with real money I recommend people to get the Warden because it's cheaper than the sentinel and it's most likely to retain all of its combat capabilities once EWAR gameplay is added in and the sentinel is rebalanced around that. Another thing is that the sentinel costs more than the warden, so if down the line you decide you'd prefer the sentinel you can upgrade the warden to a sentinel (but you cannot go the other way around without melting the ship and rebuying it). I gave you the cliff notes but I made a video doing a deep dive on all the vanguards if you want to take a look! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHu1koeef5qUgas

@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
How long does it take you to do the guard site against hostiles mission? The reason I ask is because the group VHRTs will come back in about 5 mins, and for me I like to stick with space combat or ground combat, since when I'm doing space combat I don't wear any armor so that if I die I don't lose anything of consequence.

Great video. Thanks a lot. Good to see content in 3.17.2 I also really like that you show the "whole" thing (e.g. Waiting for mission to spawn, mistakes like loosing a wing and still going on.) So you really show it as it is.Just wished I had your pilot skills :-) I admit I really struggle a bit with 3.17.2. In the past (3.16) I could do VHRT in my Defender, but now I sometimes find even MRTs a challenge. I seem to take too long to take the enemy down, so I take too much damage on the single Size 2 shield. Would love to hear how you rate the Defender in 3.17.2 - still good in your eyes?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words and your feedback - I'm glad you found it useful to see the things going wrong as well as the good things lol. Keep at it and your skill will get better! Try to think of what went wrong whenever you blow up and try something different next time! The very first time I piloted a ship in star citizen I failed a VLRT lol. As for 3.17.2, it's definitely a LOT more challenging. I think the Defender is still a great ship (and actually a FANTASTIC ship for combat service beacons, if they ever fix the spawn rates so that they're actually attainable). The issue is that hit registration is a bit of a mess, and NPCs with s2 shields can sometimes be "invulnerable" where it looks like you're hitting the front shield but the damage is being registered on the back shields, but then the front shields never go down. Because of this, it's really useful to shoot at enemies while you're above/behind/below them and not while you're in front of them, so strafing around targets is a LOT better than jousting them. I definitely run into problems sometimes where it feels like the enemy JUST WON'T GO DOWN. I find this happening more in ships that have lower-caliber weapons, strangely and less often in my vanguard... i still haven't figured out what the pattern is there though. Keep at it though, as you saw sometimes you have to disengage if things don't go well for you, but it's ok. Get those shields up and try again. If you run away it spreads out the wingmen a bit so that might make future engagements a bit less dangerous.
@dragonchild_SC2 жыл бұрын
@@WingZeroType Thanks a lot for your answer. That actually explains a lot. I had no issues taking down the light fighters, but the Cutty felt nearly indestructible. Do i just suck or is there some trick to the moments where you seem rather stationary in your videos (or moving slower)? i cant quite figure out what i do differently between my fast blow ups or long chains.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome, and thanks for the feedback, it really helps me know what's working for folks. Sorry that you're having some inconsistent results - in the gladius you will be moving a bit faster than I am in the Sentinel, the sentinel is a heavy fighter so its a good deal slower than the gladius. But I generally keep the speed limit to at or slightly above the SCM speed (the border of the white and red speed zone) unless I'm running away to recharge shields. As for movements, I'm mostly trying to rotate around the enemy via vertically strafing upwards and rolling my ship slightly, and occasionally trying to fly past the enemy and get around them (if I'm finding myself face-to-face). In the past couple days I've had a few inconsistent bounty hunting experiences with light/medium fighters as well, where I get rammed by the AI or get hit by a rogue missile that I thought I had flared away, so occasionally mistakes do happen. If you're able to record your own session to take a look at it and try to see what went wrong it *really* helps! Also if you upload it I'm happy to take a look and give you my suggestions on what I think was working or not working. I also have a video I made specifically for the gladius in the previous patch. I would no longer suggest using the distortion weapons like I was using in that video but you can see the type of combat maneuvering I'm doing in the gladius. One last thing is I'd strongly suggest making sure you're moving your capacitor around between 100% weapons, shields, and (if needed) thrusters. It *really* makes a big difference. Here's the gladius video if you're curious: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anzWqKp4oK6Wj5I

@@TheMartinator99 ah yeah in group VHRTs when there's 4 enemies and they all have turrets it can definitely be hard. Sometimes when running away if there are different enemy ships you can engage with one of them away from one or two others (e.g. if a ship is faster or slower they'll get strung out compared to the others) and that can be a way to try to limit incoming damage. But yeah given the way they've made group VHRTs have up to 4 VHRT-level targets its definitely something we have to deal with, maneuvering definitely helps but there's only so much you can do when there's a bunch of turrets aiming for you that can move just as fast as you can maneuver, so sometimes you have to just ship away at them bit by bit. Also if you're doing bounties in Hurston/microTech space you can get bounties on the planets themselves which have a lot more aerodynamic drag than bounties in Crusader space which'll only have bounties on 3 moons, which only has Daymar with any sort of considerable aero drag. On light fighters the agility of the ship is a major aspect of its defense so fighting in atmo will definitely make you take more damage as well. And yeah, feel free to hit me up if you want to, I'm always happy to try to offer some help.

So the issue with s3 ballistic cannons is that they only have about 1 min of ammo, so you'd have to restock all the time. If you want, you can use laser cannons, and that's actually what i'd use on a cutlass myself if I was going after HRTs and above, and i'd run my power to shields except for when I needed to recharge weapons. I find distortion canons not really good anymore. 4x MVSA in the nose and then putting them on staggered firing mode, just shreds and makes tracking/landing shots so easy. I put 32 Pioneer I missiles on, always giving the target a salvo of 4 at 3-4km. They are having a prox. fuze which means they dont need to hit to explode. Just get close enough. So i have rockets for 2 group vhrts and 2 solos in between. that usually aligns with the ammo for my a5db gatling quite well.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm on the fence about the 4x MVSAs vs splitting with 2 EVSDs. I have seen that the hurricanes still get disabled by the EVSDs (and you can see that at least twice in this video) where they just start floating off in a random direction without firing back, and their EM signature just steadily drops which makes them a lot easier to kill with the slow-projectile cannons/gatling. But yeah the Wardens and Valkyries would die much faster with the 4x MVSA so I'm still on the fence lol. I personally don't prefer the staggered mode because I'm usually watching my pip more than my stream of bullets, and I prefer to get more alpha whenever possible but it's a minor difference so I think people should just do whatever works for them. And just like you said I used to always use the most number of pioneers possible, but in 3.17 the missiles were rebalanced so you can actually get more damage out of having a full loadout of dominators vs pioneers, and I just use 1-2 dominators per enemy (like you saw in the video) based on how dangerous the spawn is and how quickly I want to take them out. I think almost all of the dominators I fired hit so I'm pretty happy with them so far, and I was able to stretch them+the AD5B ammo out to 3 Group VHRTs + 3 VHRTs
@RoxxSerm2 жыл бұрын
@@WingZeroType didn't even notice I actually do that. And yeah I totally hear you about the capacitor for the s5 laser cannon, back when we didn't really ever need to go repair our ships I was running a fully energy-based loadout but now with the harder enemy AI, the atmospheric bounties which slows your maneuverability, the nerf to s2 shields, and the bug where energy-based fire ignores shields completely, I think ballistics are the way to go and like we saw in this video my missiles, ballistics, and decoys all were running low around the same time so it worked out.

Why is the sentinel so much more popular than the harbinger? They both cost the same right now, and aside from the EMP the harbinger gets a bonus in almost every area, even bigger turret guns. Does the added hull weight make it that terrible at maneuvering?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
you're exactly right, the hull weight does significantly inhibit it's ability to accelerate in any direction, and that includes the pitch/roll/yaw attributes. While the max pitch/roll/yaw of the ship is the same as other vanguards, due to it's added weight and the fact that all vanguards have the same thrusters, the ship is incredibly sluggish compared to the others. That's the primary reason people prefer the other vanguards. Once armor is implemented though, it might be much more valuable since it is supposed to be a more heavily armored variant due to being a bomber, but presumably combat will have changed drastically by then. And when you say the harbinger gets a bonus in almost every area, critically it has the same shields and pilot-controlled dps as the other vanguards, it only gets a slight damage resistance increase versus the others (since armor doesn't exist right now) and the 3 size 5 torpedos. The torps are decent, but since you only get 3 of them it's not nearly enough to offset the maneuverability disadvantage.

Yes, I definitely have. I even mentioned it in my VHRT tier list that I had done a whole bunch of VHRT combat with it with the intent of creating a video for it, but at the end I gave up because I just struggled with it too much. It's got a weaker capacitor and a larger size so it really struggles and it's extra s1 shield isn't enough IMO to undo it's shortcomings. It really goes to show you how much of the gladius's power comes from its smaller profile and agility.

put the ad5b's and 4 msva's on the same weapon group and use your emp...when the group vhrt is done..just go restock and refuel and fly back to daymar or Cellin and that should be enough time for the group vhrt to repopulate... You nuke their shields on your way in.. get within 500m.. use a fully charged EMP... their ship turns off and floats and STOPS shooting at you... Nice video! Have you tried all the weapon types for the Sentinel? What do you think of laser cannons and repeaters?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I've tried a bunch of them, yes. Id say use repeaters primarily for pvp, because to match weapon velocities you'd have to downsize the nose gun to a s4 repeater (since s5 repeaters have the slower 700m/s speed of cannons). You really need the faster 1400m/s speed for pvp. But for pvp I strongly suggest using the MVSA cannons with a s5 cannon or ad5b ballistic Gatling. I like to use two EVSD distortion cannons in the nose as well but that's only useful against hurricanes, it basically has no effect on wardens, Valkyries, and hammerheads
@kenolivier57012 жыл бұрын
Such a helpful video. So you don't use the EMP at all?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And yeah it's because we only have two weapon groups and I'd rather be able to use a weapon group for the energy weapons and another for the ballistics. The EMP can also be tricky to use since you need to charge it, wait for it to get near the full charge, and then trigger it while you're in range of the enemy, but ideally you want to get their shields down first otherwise you won't disable their systems, and that's challenging to get the timing right because the EMP won't fire right when you pull the trigger, it's got a 1-2 second delay between trigger pull and actually firing. So because of all these reasons, I don't bother with it and instead just focus on positioning my ship and trying to pilot effectively to prioritize my laser cannons and ballistic gatling.
@bobcoffee112 жыл бұрын
I really need to work on my piloting skills, I'm using a keyboard and mouse but I will have to play around with settings more. My VRTs take longer and I miss a lot of my shots.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Yeah a few quick things that you might want to check on are to make sure you're not over-speeding. I like to set my speed limit at the SCM speed once the combat starts and i only increase it again if I need to chase the enemy down or run away to recharge my shields. I actually set a hotkey to do that (the X key). Also make sure you're managing your capacitor! I like to set 1, 2, and 3 to max out the capcaitor to weapons, thrusters, and shields, respectively. It'll have your guns charging 3x as fast which can also help combat end faster.
@diminios2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the overview! I really need to try this, it's just that I dislike cannons. You could run the Sentinel PvP loadout and do VHRT's just fine. Gimbal down to a size 4 on the nose and run 1x Rhino (or AD4B) and 4x GVSR's. You still fire fixed, you're just gimballing down to the Rhino because size 5 repeaters have the 700m/s velocity. You have to go 4 or lower to keep the 1400. The AD4B also has 1400m/s velocity.

Totally random question but what is your favorite combat ship for pvp, and your favorite daily driver? Just curious as i'm looking for a good small to medium ship to compliment my BMM as I really dislike the defender. Thanks for the help!
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
well i don't really have a "daily driver" so to speak since I mostly just do space combat, but anytime I need to do a short jaunt or summon an instant-expedite ship I always go for the avenger titan. It's really fast, looks great, you can get straight into the cockpit from outside and vice versa, it's easy enough to park, and (like I mentioned) it's an instant cheap expedite so you can summon it everywhere. It's even got a bit of SCU storage and inventory, and a bed if bed logging is your jam. For combat.... it's tough. I don't really have a favorite, but rather I just love flying a variety of ships. I think the vanguard sentinel is the most efficient ship for space combat, hands down, but there are a variety of other ships that are fun to fly. I have recently been flying more light and medium fighters since I was doing a ton of combat in the sentinel to grind back a bunch of ships - the Khartu-al and Blade are really fun b/c they're ultra-ridiculously agile, and the blade even has good dps and is relatively durable. For medium ships, the hornets, bucc, and reliants are all fun for me because they have ridiculously high gimballed dps but you have to watch your shields and disengage when they're getting low since you're a bit slower. The retaliator/eclipse/gladiator bombers are fun for 1-shotting enemies with torpedos but you need to pay for missile restocks or claim the ship (which is what I do) so i take them out every so often since I enjoy missile boats. I know I'm giving you a lot of ships, but it really depends on what I feel like on a given night. Some nights i am tired and i just wanna shoot torpedos for 1-shot KOs, and sometimes I'm feeling more pumped and I don't mind working a bit harder with light fighter combat, maneuvering around the enemies and trying to land fixed fire at high speed. :) Hope that helps, and happy to answer any further questions if you have any!

How often do you end up using the EMP on the Sentinel? On my Warden I've been running 4 MVSA's and a C-788 on the nose (can disable ship engines and shields fairly well), but I've been thinking of switching to the Sentinel for the EMP and swapping out the C-788 for the AD5B.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
I almost never use the EMP because you only get two weapon groups so I like to have one group for my energy-based weapons and one group for my ballistic weapon. When I was using a fully energy-based loadout I would use the EMP but in 3.17.2 I don't think it's particularly useful. For me personally if I already had a warden I wouldn't bother also buying a sentinel just for the EMP unless I was going to try to do ERTs with it (since for those I think a fully energy-based loadout is more useful since hammerheads are gigantic bullet sponges. That said, I no longer like vanguards for ERTs because the AI is way too responsive and will constantly rotate their weakened shields away from you so it takes forever to kill them unless you can kite them towards you so that their front is constantly facing you.

@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
@@Adiera I don't love any of the vanguard's for erts, and they all put out the same pilot controlled DPS. The sentinel is the best vanguard imo because it's the lightest and therefore the most agile. The harbinger is a lot heavier but it gets 3xs5 torpedos extra, as well as a tiny bit more damage reduction and s3 hard points for the turret vs the s2 of all the others. Still, I think the sentinel is way stronger. For the turrets I always like to use laser repeaters. They're all the same stats right now dps-wise so i just go with the cheapest ones which are the cf-series ones. As for why I don't like them for ERTs anymore, I've seen that hammerheads do a lot of rotating around to tank your damage with their higher shield faces and they try to protect any lower shield faces from further damage. Since you have to typically strafe around the hammerheads pretty aggressively to avoid their incoming fire it's really difficult to only focus on a single shield face to hit their hull. Plus if you do end up having to disengage you've just set yourself back a bunch of time. Because of this I like ships with more s5 weapons and higher burst dps to try to end the fight faster, like the Connie or potentially even a 600i for kiting the hammerhead. The vanguard's can kit the hammerhead as well but then youve only got 1 s5 weapon doing damage so it can take a while. The advantage of kiting is that they will often (but not always) fly towards you and not rotate the weakened side away, so you can more efficiently get through the shield

I wouldn't say that the EMP is worth it right now, but it's not in it's final form by any means. They're going to re-do distortion at some point and the sentinel might end up losing the EMP for some other form of Electronic Warfare package. If you're buying in-game, I'd say get the Hoplite if you don't like the sentinel color package since it'll save you a bunch of money over the warden. If you're buying with real money, then I'd suggest going with the warden since it's the combat variant and is most likely to keep its current level of firepower as the game continues to get rebalanced.

Yes it can be, for it to be effective you have to get the enemy's shields down first and then fire the EMP within range of the enemy. It can be tricky to time since EMPs take about 1-2s after they're triggered to actually fire and since you need to be within 1k of the enemy (depending on which ship's EMP you're using) its tricky to use effectively. But if you do it right you can definitely disable enemy ships, or systems of enemy ships for a few seconds.

Reckon if you aren’t using the range advantage of S5 weapons, and AD5Bs are highly inaccurate at range, would gimballed AD4B be more effective, as you’ll land more hits?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
Nah I personally don't find gimballed cannons too effective, and the dps difference between a S5 and a S4 cannon is MASSIVE. The S5 AD5B does 54% more dps than the S4 AD4B, and even if we were going to say that the gimbals make up for that damage decrease, another major factor is the amount of ammunition that they can carry. A full ammo load for the AD5B is 253k damage, whereas the AD4B only carries 72k (less than 1/3). So I'd need to be significantly stingier with the trigger or need to reload more often. And the S2 guns in the nose of the vanguard don't gimbal, I believe so you'd have mixed pips which gets tricky to aim.

They do work, but they're not nearly as powerful as they were in the 3.16 patches. In 3.16 they were ridiculously powerful and even hardened military ships got completely shut down after getting a few hits of distortion. That was clearly way too OP. So they were tuned down a lot (perhap a bit too much). I haven't seen a ton of use out of distortion repeaters but the EVSD cannons in the nose of the Vanguard do still shut down hurricanes. You can see twice in the video that hurricanes were disabled by the EVSDs and just start drifting off aimless and not firing back, and you can see on the targetting MFD that their EM signature starts dropping b/c their systems are shutting down. Since the Hurricane is a relatively small and faster VHRT target, I think it's worth the damage loss against Valkyries and Wardens to make the hurricane an easier kill with the slow-projectile-speed cannons, but I think it's totally valid to go with 4xMVSA cannons as well if folks want to.

You can change this option in the game settings by changing the default targeting method from lead pip to lag pip and you'll have the same system. So all ballistic weapons that shoot ammo at repeater speeds (1400m/s) can only fire for about 16 seconds before running dry. Ballistic weapons that can shoot projectiles at cannon speeds (700m/s) typically are much more efficient, having around 1 minute of firing time. The size 5 ballistic AD5B is a "ballistic gatling" that shoots rounds out at the 700m/s cannon speeds but has 2 minutes of firing time! So it's the balistic of choice to use when you have a size 5 hardpoint.

could you explain how do you aim? your lead indicator is in completely different place than your crosshair and your shots still land on target, i don't get that
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
ah yes, so there's two types of indicators in the game. The one that you're probably used to is the default one and is called lead PIP (predicted impact point). I've changed mine to Lag PIP, which means I aim my crosshairs with the goal of getting the targeting reticule to land on the target. The lag PIP shows you the point on your target where your shots will land based on how you and the target are currently maneuvering, and I prefer that because with lead PIP I'm usually focusing on a random spot in space but with lag pip I'm focusing on the target itself, which I prefer so that I can see when they're changing direction. It also lets me see when my shots might still catch the edge of a target even if the targeting reticule doesn't turn green, since that only happens when you've lined up your shots perfectly to hit center mass. I have a bit more information about it in this video, including a few other settings that I've changed if you're curious (see the timestamps): kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6WloGWjbZalhJY

Its neither intentional nor a bug. Its "bad design". The service beacons spawn with a certain rate and distribution ( from low risk to extreme risk ) for the entire server, distributed over regions. Their spawnrate isnt adjusted properly to 100 players though. Way too less spawn. And way too many of useless Low risk ones, or undoable / non-solo viable extreme ones. A hotfix is in the works to spawn more and more mid-tier ones. In my opinion the big flaw of them is that they are serverbound, not specifically spawned for the player. I.E personal missions. While it makes sense overall how they are now, for testing purposes in the alpha star citizen is, personalized service beacons would make much more sense and would be way easier to balance in terms of monetary income and difficulty.

And the fact that we all compete for the same missions is just poorly designed since most of the times you try to accept a mission it just fails to accept because someone beat you to it.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree RoxxSerm, this is the same feedback I gave in the spectrum feedback thread (that they should have their spawn rate determined by quantum and then once spawned, should be unique to the player so that we don't have the issue where you try to get a mission and someone else already took it).

What bounty hunter rank do you start to get group bounties?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
I first see the certification mission at MRT level. I typically see it in crusader space and it's listed as a north rock service group trial contract, if I'm not mistaken.group bounties only spawn in crusader and Hurston space but I've always seen the trial contract in crusader space. Once you complete the trial you should see group bounties in both crusader and Hurston space and they'll be offered up to the difficulty of your bounty hunter guild reputation allows.

@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
So I get my certification missions to unlock the group missions in crusader space. Some servers are buggy though and don't show the group missions (rarely, but it does happen) and also sometimes it just takes a few mins before missions populate. So if youve been in crusader space for a few mins and you still don't see a north rock service group trial contract then maybe try swapping servers. Group bounties also spawn in Hurston space but I've typically done my trial contract in crusader space

Is your reticle leading or lagging?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
I use the lag pip, so I want to make the reticule overlap with my target since its showing me where my shots are going to go based on my movement and my target's movement. I'm a big fan of it, so I'd recommend trying it out if you haven't! Many people prefer it!

Question, u dont use the box to shoot your target but still hit your target im just a little confused
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
The aiming mode that I'm using is called "Lag PIP" which is something you can manually set. "Lead PIP" is the aiming mode that's on by default. You can change them in game by changing the default targeting reticule option in the gameplay settings (first options menu when you go to settings) or by setting a key to toggle between the two modes under "Flight - Targeting/Switch Flight Lead / Lag Reticle (Toggle)" in your advanced keybinds. some notes about the two: - Lead PIP's reticule shows you where you should fire your shot so that it will hit the targeted enemy based on how you and the target are currently moving. In this situation, your eyes are likely looking at the targeting reticle which is in front of the enemy. - Lag PIP makes the reticule show you where your shot will land based on how you and the target are currently moving (it can still miss if the target changes speed/direction after you've fired the shot, same as with lead PIP). In this situation, your goal is to place the reticule on top of the enemy's ship since that's where you want the shot to land. Because of this, your eyes are likely looking at the enemy ship since thats where you're trying to place the reticule, which makes it so that you can better predict and respond to the enemy's actions like turning or changing direction. - I also prefer lag PIP because with the lead PIP, the targeting indicator only goes green when you're lined up to perfectly hit the target in their center of mass. But with lag PIP, you can see when you're not hitting exactly in the center but you're still going to catch the edge of the target and do damage so you can better decide when it's worth it to shoot or not.

@@dragonchild_SC Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking too! Eye tracking really does seem cool but I agree, it's a pricy piece of hardware and most folks won't have it. @WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
ooo that's a tricky one. I'd probably go Arrow or Gladius in that case. They're both really good - the arrow is slightly smaller with smaller shields but higher dps, and the gladius is a tiny bit larger and with twice the shields of the arrow but lower dps. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of those. The arrow is slightly cheaper though at 972,300 vs the 1,169,900 of the Gladius. I'd recommend using the fits that I linked in the google doc in the video description as well. The arrow has a really solid fully gimballed loadout where I prefer going fixed for the gladius (but you could do fix/gimballed for either - up to you).

how do you get vhrts? i've never seen them before.
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
So you need to do bounties over and over until you get your bounty hunter's guild reputation high enough. You find out your reputation in the last tab of the mobiglass called the "Delphi". After you level up your reputation you'll get certification missions where you pay a small fee and kill a target somewhere in the verse and that unlocks that tier of difficulty for you everywhere else. The grind from HRTs to VHRTs is a very long one though, so if you're seeing HRTs over and over you might just need more reputation. If you're in microTech space, the VHRT mission is also called an HRT, but the payout is higher and the spawns are actually VHRT-level

when I bounty hunt I can't quantum to the target location why ?
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
hey so it could be two things: 1. if you are in quantum mode when you grab a mission, you might need to exit the quantum mode and restart it to be able to quantum to that target location. 2. Group bounties (MRTs, HRTs, VHRTs, ERTs) are the only ones that are guaranteed to have a quantum marker near the target location. If you are only doing the single bounties, then it's possible that you have no quantum marker at the target location, and you have to fly the remaining distance from the closest quantum marker. One thing you can do is try to quantum in a line nearby the target location and hit U to power off the ship when you're close to the target in that case and it can sometimes land you a bit closer. Press U to power the ship back on after.

how do you get to those good missions, i can only get like 17,5k vhrt
@WingZeroType2 жыл бұрын
so the 17.5k VHRTs is what I'm doing, but I have maxed out my crusader security reputation which gives an additional 20% payout on top of the base payout. So 17.5k + 20% = 21k, and then the call to arms bonus pays an additional 500-1k per target which gives 22k per single VHRT. For the Group missions that pay around 75k, you can only get them in crusader space or hurston space, and you need to do the northrock group certification mission. Once you complete that cert, you'll get group bounties up to the difficulty that you've unlocked via your bounty hunter's guild reputation. So if you're getting regular VHRTs you'll also get group VHRTs available to you. They pay 62.5k by default but they'll pay up to 20% bonus based on your northrock service group reputation, which is how I'm getting 74.5k per group bounty.

You need to do a lot of single HRT missions to level up your bounty hunter's guild reputation until you get another certification mission that will unlock the next level of difficulty. It can be a bit of a grind though, so stick with it! You can check your progress in the mobiglass on the last tab (the Delphi tab) and check your reputation with the bounty hunter's guild.
