Very thorough explanation, nicely done. One other tip is you might use the speed limiter around the cave entrance so one doesn't accidently hold W too long and smash into the cave wall. I think it's the mouse wheel by default. Or one could just drop the landing gear in our new master mode world.

Ive almost died in my first cave. An Oxypen could be a good idea for a beginner. What do you do with the pink flare?

To use a flare you can either equip it to a throwable location slot and tap G to put it in your hand or simply right click and carry from the inventory. Then use F to look at the Flare and activate. You have the choice of dropping it, throwing it or equipping it again as additional light source. I tend to leave them at the tunnel I just exited to show my way back to the next area but you can come up with a more effective system. If you do, please share.
