I slowly raise it to 98% and then you go beneath the blue markers about and inch. Then you can move around until you get a signal and slowly head towards it as long as the signal is building. If it disappears you can throttle back the pierce. But I have moved around at 98-100 and the signal never dropped cuz I was right on one of the panels.

To increase or decrease the pierc % you scroll the mouse wheel up or down.

@joeblow9641 im not 100% sure but from the testing I’ve done I believe that the higher the pierc the more detail scan that it gives. To change your pierc % you scroll up or down on the mouse wheel.

Whats your suggestion on navigate to the astroid belt? I usually just qt to miners lament and fly from there, but I don't think thats the safest way

There’s a bunch of different ones you can get into. The one I use is cru l1 to arc l5 and disengage your quantum between 12.5km - 13.5km away from arc l5. Since invictus tho I haven’t had much success out there.

Might as well throw this in I guess. The sensor numbers should always be able to be divided by 1000. so scanner sings should always say like 4000 10000 or 14000 20000 etc. if you see numbers like 1820 or 5200 then they are rocks.

Those numbers are the RS signatures. When your pinging out you should be seeing markers and when your in scan mode you should see a readout on the right side of your screen that says rs signature. The numbers you’re looking for are 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, etc.

But normally what you’re looking for is rs signatures that are 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, etc.. So your probably finding rocks because your probably seeing the wrong rs signatures.

Hey thanks for the great vid, I'm just starting out in a free hire vulture. I've tried a couple of small contracts but that net so little each time. Are the 5k arrows got more salvage than the 1k ones? Also, I'm really unsure how it all works, I see there's a fracture setting for the salvage arms, but no idea what it does, and also I managed to pull weapons from a hull but no idea how to salvage them to sell, I guess maybe I can't? I'd be interested in a 'day in the life of a vulture salvager' vid if you wanted to make one! The PIERC is supposed to represent tightening the angle of the scanner so it gets more info from a specific point. No idea if that makes sense. The lower the 0% the wider the area it's scanning but the stronger the signal needs to be to pick it up. I think, anyway.

I would just stay away from the arrow contracts unless you’re trying to level up your rep. The fracture mode breaks the ships apart and into smaller pieces then you can switch to the other mode [can’t remember the name] to suck them up into your hopper. Produces construction material “not worth money really tho” I might do a day in the life. For me personally it still seems to be equivalent to the ping angle of the old UI. I used it as i did in 3.22 and it still gives me the same results. 0%=360° scan/ping radius; 50%=180° radius = only scans forward and so on. At least this is how i understand it and using it with that in mind i most of the time get the radar to do/see what i want (A high pirce/low ping angle also increses the range you can see and identify things. You just need to point it right at the target) I hope this is some usefull info o7

I have a reclaimer from last wipe I was doing CM in, would you recommend soloing this in a reclaimer or should I invest in a vulture for this?

@@cplsanders69 so CM isn’t really worth anything unless you have a reclaimer because it can hold so much more. But personally if your in it for auec you want to focus on RMC, it’s worth way more per scu. Panels I found to be best because there’s no buy in cost to salvage whereas ships you need to buy the contracts.

Before watching your video, i tried too find them at the yela belt in the reclamier today for 2 hours and they all disappeared around 3km and i could not get any range info to locate them. The Question is to knowing when to stop and search all around visually. From your video I think you said stop when the scan signal was 90%. I will try again and use this 90% signal scan method... also i assume Panels have an RS signature that is is multiple of 2000 (ex 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000...)

Hi there and yes it does work with the reclaimer. It will disappear. Try increasing your pierc % at the marker and ping scan. Try like 50-75%. Then just follow your signal. Sometimes they take a min or 2 to pop in. It not really a knowing thing to go into third person cam it was more of a feeling. Yes panels are still multiples of 2000. Beat of luck out there.

@@TheMacedon Thanks, following your guide, i had good luck last night and got my 1st panels. I tried to use the claw over and over but it just didn't work. (It work fine for salvage contracts) so after struggling for 2 hours with claw i decided the claw may not work with striped panels. Also in my game the RECLAIMER text for signal strength was missing but i just estimated where 80% to 90% signal strength was and it worked. I run 3 1080p screens for a 5760 wide star citizen so sometimes my UI is screwed up so I am not sure if the missing text was a reclaimer bug.

This should help me find more panels. I can usually find the signals easily enough but then miss the panels themselves. TYVM You can also find effective fields of panels if you head straight up from many stations. I usually go straight up from Cru L1 Ambitious Dream station.

Absolutely @TemplarGuardian. Spent a little time messing with it but they are definitely not there but as u get close they pop up. Which make me think it’s probably server side. This way though it’s been very consistent.

Ive been told in game for the reclaimer pilots that you can find derelict ships using the scanning method? Either who. Does this panel salvage work in reclaimer or better in a vulture. Also what method or way to make money would you recommend for reclaimers. Cheers good video btw!

Hey there and thanks! Pamela is a good way to make money with the reclaimer. I haven’t found a derelict yet and I’ve tried. Just been sticking to panels and doing salvage mission to change it up. The salvage missions aren’t as profitable but you still make something. Panels are still the way to go. Yela asteroid belt has the most just make sure you’re away from Grim and you’ll be fine.

Hey so I’m not sure what pierc stands for. I’m 3.22 weeks had scan angles. 360 180 90 etc. 360 would be 360 degrees around your ship. 90 or more would center the scan. Now it’s in % and 100%=360 is what it seems like. You need a signal to be able to scan. So for example when you see an unknown marker it’ll say 100%. When you increase the % from 100 to say 50 you’ll get a little more info on location of the signal. For panels when you increase from 100 to 50 that original unknown marker will move slightly and then when you move it to 75 you might move it more or it’ll show multiple other markers inside that original unknown marker. While doing that and u get the multiple markers the signal should drop from 100 to 22-25% if you aim your ship at them and move the signal should increase leading you to the panel. Hopefully that makes sense.

Hey there. You’re probably looking at the wrong rs signatures. By pushing V to go into scan mode when you look at an unknown marker you’ll get a reading at the right of your HUD must stay in scan mode. Panel signatures are 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, 12000 etc. anything else is going to be rocks. Usually you’ll see 1800 1900 5400 those are all rocks and rock clusters. Hope this helps.

My understanding is that the higher the percentage the more detailed the scan is supposed to be. For me when I scan from 10km away at 100% the markers appear. If I keep it at 100% and I’m closer like 4km they won’t it’ll almost go past them. So you would lower the % to get them to pop up again.

At one time the Salvage RS signature should be n x 2000 for panels. I am not 100% sure if this is still true.

I'm thinking about buying a Reclaimer for panels, it has almost 14 times more capacity, which means 14 times less landings. 14 times less work and more income. Can you check this?

I can definitely try it out. I think the vulture would still be best because it’s more maneuverable. You do have a great point about being able to be out longer without needing to offload.

@@TheMacedon I don't have Reclaimer, I know it's big and slow, but vulture is starting to get annoying when you have to come back every 20 minutes to sell. I have 1 run for about an hour, and 40 minutes of them are landing, running to the point of sale, then returning to the ship, crafting more boxes, running to sell again, back to the ship, taking off, and only then returning to the salvage...

Hey @idrgian thanks!! It definitely happens a lot. I think it’s happening because the cargo gets duped so it thinks that you still have RMC or boxes on the grid even tho u sold it. Next patch should be fixing that.

Why does everyone go so ga-ga over the panels? What I want is to be able to find whole derelict ships to rip apart, like big ships. 890s, hammerheads, or things like that. They almost never come up in the contracts, but I'd love to be able to park my Reclaimer next to one of those and zone out for a few hours :) The other problem with scanning at least for me is I can sometimes go 15 or more minutes without scanning ANYTHING in Lagrange points, and that's just wasted time where I could have just picked up a contract instead.

Yeah I understand. We were able to find derelict c2 and 890 in the halo before but I think they are removed or just super rare now. I would love for them to come back tho I really loved just hanging out there scraping. For now the panels work best for me anyways.

@Danku777 oh no. It’s probably a server thing one thing I would try is give it a minute or two for them to pop up. They could just be delayed especially if you’re getting collision warnings.

I think so. Big reason is you don’t need to buy contracts. But with a reclaimer might be worth it.

Hi there @SpecialJess2 You can take salvage missions, find panels. You can salvage any ship as long as the shields are off. If you take a bounty it should work just make sure it’s soft death.
