Ah, the first ship in game that I fell in love with, I remember talking with some guy about it in global chat and he sent me the money to buy one since it was his favorite ship. Whoever that guy is, you're a legend.

Literally the same thing that happened to me a month ago! Not with the Sabre, but i was literally grinding my way to the Vulture with a Cutter, talking about my goal in global chat with other people. I was 1 million away from it, and a guy out of nowhere sent me 1.5 millions. One month later, i showed him the results: the Vulture has paid for all my fleet, and today my main is a Reclaimer. SC community often knows how to be awesome.

I have the Sabre and its Firebird variant. Nothing more fun sneaking up on things before they know you're even there. Always loved the base Sabre, looks so much like a space F-14 Tomcat with its swept back wings.

The original fighter I fell in love with. The Sabre got some real love in the last couple of patches and currently I can be more effective in it than I can in a Hornet Mk II. Great review as always. (I went with the Sabre Comet as an upgrade during ILW because that digital camo on the fuselage is peak.)

The Sabre made me come back to Star Citizen a long time ago. It's one ship I won't be melting. I really like the Comet paint on it, makes it feel more stealthy.

Nice video. I think CIG needs to adjust those front retro thrusters to be less big&round and more stealthy looking like the sibling sabres (slanted&sleek)

@ I personally took off the pyroburst and put on matching repeaters to the existing…I found it works pretty well although ballistics work a lot better for ending fight quicker

@@boomstick5501 thanks for the tip! I melted a ship to aquire this, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'd rather fly a ship that I enjoy looking at, than one that's the "best" but I would like to make it as good as I can to help with its natural disadvantages. Holding out hope that one day I'll be able to get an f8c

Used to love the Sabre for Bounty Hunting way back in the day before Stealth was broken and ships had capacitors. Those were the good ol' days.

I was flying my Sabre on a lot of bounties this weekend and man is it such a joy to fly. It is my favorite cockpit for sure, good screen function and great visibility. I don't know why everyone thinks its such a bad ship, the general consensus is the variants are all better than base and its worse than most light/medium fighters.

Aside from the really hardcore pvp dogfighter pilots (I am not one) who go by turn rates and love ships with the most maneuverability (Sabre is pretty mediocre in that department, as I understand), the naysayers of the Sabre are usually holdovers from when it first came out and it had 3-4 shield generators so it was tanky as all get out when it wasn't supposed to be. Then they nerfed it pretty hard and people hated it, and I don't think its reputation has fully recovered. Glad to see they are buffing it back up and making it worthwhile, as it is one of my favorites.

The Sabre is (in my humble opinion) one of the best, if not best fighters in the game. I do keep mine with a full stealth component load out, I do swap out between ballistics and energy weapons based on what I'm doing, and I have the Rattler II missiles on it. Plus, it's just a beautiful design to fly.

When I heard of the price increase from 170 to 175, I was baffled by why they would raise the price on a so so ship. Then I took a look at the most recent stats and was blown away. 400m better stealth than the Ghost Mk2, faster, more agile, and tankier. Basically, while the Hornet beats it in terms of DPS, the Sabre beats it in every other respect. So yah, I think the new price is totally fair.

The price bump broke many CCU chains. It was a deliberate change from CIG and quite a bit scummy.

First ship I bought in-game. Still use it as my fighter. Rented the Ghost MK2 and I'm not so sure about it. Thinking of grabbing at least a CCU from something closer in price to the Sabre just to make sure I can get it eventually. Oh yeah, I would love them to either update it or release an MK2 to match the style of the newer Sabres. That's all it needs to be the perfect fighter for me.

Now that it seems that the F7C has lost it's nose and top mounts, it looks like the Sabre will be the upgrade path for my Gladius.

Back with the Mk 1 Hornet, I used to not like the Sabre. Sabre was faster, more maneuverable, put out more damage stock (and didn't lose that damage by being sneezed on), and in some patches was even tougher as well. All while being a smaller target than the Hornet except from above or below. Now the fighter market is more diverse, and both this and the Hornet are competent, competitive choices with their own intended playstyles.

I love this ship nad it looks so cool, I just want it to have either bigger capacitors or more missiles, given that it's not deisgned to STAY in combat, it should inflict as much damage as possible in one go and leave. Still an amazing looking ship

This used to be King when it had more Shields than any other fighter. But with the reduction on Shields and armor mattering more not to mention power creep from other vehicles. This poor things really lagged behind. Still a fantastic PVE craft. Also, what helmet are you using? I don't think I've ever seen that?

swap out the coolers to A stealth and go with 8xs2 Dom missiles, its great for pve

Considering I own the firebird I really didn't know much about these. For stealth fighters is it always 40% stealth bonus?

Not always! The hornet mkii is 28% and the mki is 15% i believe .

The Sabre is a fighter, born & bred. Other than a pass to bring it up to "current standards" I don't think it needs more than fps weapon storage for the pilot. Its mission is ship-to-ship combat, not general mission/contract work. If a player wants to go do that kind of mission in this ship, they should do it knowing the Sabre's limitations and that it isn't a loot chest.

I dunno, Even... You say it's pretty slow on top speed but I think it's actually the fastest or pretty close to the fastest medium fighter in the game. Comparatively, isn't the Hornet around 1150? Also something to keep in mind. The recent diversification of quantum drives now allows us to alter our range, speed, spool up, etc. with that said, the longest most efficient quantum drives being the Grade A stealth drives can get a 0.7scu QT tank ship as far as 116GM. That's way more than enough to or across most of Pyro. In short 0.7scu no longer means 70GM 😊

Depends on your preference, those are very different ships. Sabre is medium, Vanguards are heavy. Vanguards are tankier with more dps, but handle as you expect. Sabres rely a lot more on maneuverability and speed. Rent them both. Both ship lines are great for what they’re built for, but completely different from each other.

Im not sure wich one i prefeer between this one and the Firebird. I love the stealth gameplay with the Firebird but its not cheap to restock missiles, so now im trying again with this one. Speed its a meeh... But overall, i like it!

Ah, yes. The Pancake. You should have included its extremely wide tob/bottom profile into The Bad section, because it's one of the easiest ships to hit. That is a serious problem for a fighter with such a low shield. It's not worth owning for anything other than looks at this point.
