Pyro is a big item in the patch. And we get cows with egg sacks... Not having the solar flares is probably the biggest let down for me. Those looked like a very interesting game play complication. And with Pyro becoming basically just another stanton with so many breathable planets with outposts and refueling stations, the solar flares would have been a huge danger event to need to plan around. I mean 10:00 just looks like a regular star. Could have at least kept the VFX of the unstable star even if you took out the flares having any physical impact. 2:08 yeah, punching a guy in a helmet would not be likely to end in that result though. More likely the puncher would be going to the medbed with a broken hand. 5:33 ummm, they have had like 6 years since Pyro was announced to come up with assets for unique asteroid bases. Same problem with underground bunkers and DCs. Not sure how space stations and LZs are able to be differentiated but some places are just copy paste. 20:40 except I thought that due to the design, you cannot load full cargo capacity. Gotta have someone hold up top layer and place bottom layer on then set top layer back down. 22:33 I am so confused with this ship now. Where would the interior be? I see no access behind the pilot seat. I am starting to think that CIG has decided that no fighters will have interiors anymore and the vanguard is just grandfathered in. I hope I am wrong but I cannot figure out where an interior or access to an interior would be. And 23:41 you mean like the little fury has 1 gun on each wing. Could have given this 4x s4 instead of s5s and it would make more sense having those pylons besides rule of cool.

Missions are definitely going to be key to the games future success. Missions allow the players to interact with the underlying framework and with enough variation that changes the flavour of the locations based on the things the player is tasked with doing. The mission types we currently have, reskinned and retrofitted to new locations aren’t enough to change the feel of the game. We need more variety and missions that link directly to other mission forming mini quest lines at this point in development. Missions that require you to jump system or require you to raid multiple areas in a given system. Things like save Stanton but running all the time across systems.

8:00 I feel like their marketing strategy works best when they relay what's possible in the presented iteration of the game, so in this case the combat aspect of CZs is pretty well communicated in terms of what these locations will be used for in the immediate future. Then, as we get more mechanics to facilitate exploration gameplay, those will be added to the CZs as well and then we'll see more of that driven home in these videos.

Oh, so the Mirai Guardian only has two S5 guns ? They're big but I was expecting 4 guns, one on each pilar/wings, like a TIE interceptor. Maybe it will be a variant. Does it at least have an interior ? 23:53 I would bet the reason is them trying to make a point, maybe out of spite, that it's not just a fat Fury.

18:30 that's a size 6 gun, which hasn't been available till now, and power plants/ coolers are crazy expensive around 150-200k for grade As 21:00 blast shields should "help" against bullets penetrating windows and killing you in pilot seat seeing as ballistics are going to be penetrating hull

The current prices for the Omnisky on live are 18k (s3), 41k (s4), 59k (s5), 110k (s6), so the teaser's numbers would be about 4xish increase on the low end, and a 8xish for the mid-range. Which is probably about right --- gun upgrades make the biggest immediate difference in gameplay, and right now are kinda so cheap that you just always want the top-tiers right away. And they're the most readily-salvaged parts, so for new players being encouraged to pull some S2 or S3 guns from a bounty is a good encouragement. (though I'd expect they sell for closer to 5% of their buy values) Interestingly, some, though not all, of the power plants and coolers are /cheaper/ than on live: the Durango is 430k on live, and the Dilligence is 74k. I like the rough direction, especially if we might end up having to repair or replace those parts when engineering comes down, but it does leave me a little worried about credit inflation. That said, I also I dunno how much to take the numbers in a teaser, though. The extreme mission count probably just reflects someone with debug on or all reputation programmatically maxed, for example.

@@commanderdark7396 Actually, some people like their designs. The only ones I've liked were the original 300 series before its first redesign, and I really hate the 400i style, but until they removed the component redundancy it was the closest to what I wanted for a daily driver, with range, a fair bit of speed, an armory with suit lockers, the option for multicrew without requiring it, and pretty good shields and hull strength (especially compared to the MSR, prior to the component rebalance that screwed the 400i and finally have the MSR decent shields for its size).

Server Load Balancing by Dynamic Server startup and server boundary changing. All Servers have a max before they start to have issues with too many players. They have hard caps exactly because of this. This game needs its servers to find that hard cap before server fps/tick/hz is reduced. Then you simply start up another server and split an area between 2 servers so they are not struggling with the playercount. If 1 server can handle 100 players, then if 300 players are inside a station, You would need 3 servers of resources to cover that station with overlapping domains meshed. You might even need 1 server for 1 room with seamless transition between servers. If that is not possible, then it will not work and be laggy. Server to Server latency on top of your client to server latency does stack and can easily be a huge issue. If a server is hosting 1 room then its dedicated performance would change because a hangar server does not need ore mining services running, and other services you do not need in a hangar. Server Meshing is INSTANCE MESHING lots of instances together with transition boundaries. When its working, you will not even notice.

Hows that to work outside? Its not an infinitely scalable idea in realtime. Eve has their solutions but that has limitations and slowing time is a smaller problem in eve. The technology if it worked would be immensely valuable for other games and metaverses, but its questionable if anyone over there knows how to make it

I've said before, regarding the blast shields on the Carrack, that it doesn't necessarily matter that there is still glass left open in the front for multiple reasons. Perhaps it's a "dose" factor, such that the amount of radiation'/hazard coming through the small opening isn't enough to be a problem unlike having all of that area open. Or it could be that the glass in the front is different (thicker, or a different "transparent aluminum" material or whatever) that provides full protection but is just vastly more expensive than the glass used on the rest of the windows, and thus it wouldn't be practical to use it everywhere, but you can use it in a situation like that. There's a whole host of reasons like that which can be used to very easily explain away the whole "there's still unshielded 'glass'" complaint. Also it's worth noting on the cargo doors opening that it's nice that they do that but it only provides partial access in practical terms. The opening is really just too small and too high for easy loading/unloading without at least using a 2nd person. Presumably they will drop down, elevator style like, say, the Connies do, as they did say that the current opening is not their final plan for that (no doubt the elevator part would need a lot more work.) Still, just worth nothing that it's a nice and needed change, but a still very incomplete one in terms of providing full cargo functionality for the Carrick.
@senn423726 күн бұрын
I'm not a fan of the blast shields as well. What about all the other cockpits with windows? Did Anvil just skimp out on their glass and get the sub par stuff?
@zarlorz26 күн бұрын
@@senn4237 No, that's not what I meant. My response was to SpaceTomato saying "what about that glass", essentially, and my point is that the littel bit of glass that is not covered by the blast shield isn't a big deal in the sense that it can easily be justified in lore as to why it can get away with not being covered. So my point is that it could be a special, probably very expensive, piece of glass (or some other transparent material) that has at least some resistance to whatever radiation the rest of the shielding keeps out. As to why other ships don't have that "special glass" or blast shielding, that's also a part of Lore, though, because the Carrack is built specifically for that kind of potentially hazardous exploration so it was always sold as having that. And, yeah, every manufacturer probably "skimps" on getting the resistant "glass" because it's probably ridiculously expensive, so it's not really "skimping", per se, it's just basic economics for what can reasonably done. Really it's just a way to say there are many ways to "justify" why there is little bit of glass and why it's not everywhere and, thus, the need for the blast shield. It doesn't otherwise bother me.

for those cave systems, if they added little mini jump packs to light to medium armor that could give you a little boost to help with the geometry issues. and for those of us chunky bois in the heavy armor having a hard time trying to climb up the janky geometry well that could just be attributed to the fact that we have 300 pounds of armor on us. An easy work around until they have the time to fix edge detection and such.

Thanks, Chris! 3:00 - Man, cant wait to try jumppoints. I finally was able to reach one without being softlocked the other night, but FPS dropped to 0.2 when I looked at it. Thanks, Chris. I wonder if they'll jump into moving parts for warmth causing replacement; or die in corner requiring disassembly of your ship or just smell horrible. 18:20 - they sell for 10% the value. I think they worry people will just commit insurance fraud, so they throw the baby out with the bathwater. I actually wont mind too much when I can store things better in hangars as a kind of shop, and run a trade at a better value. I'll buy at 30% from player (triple), and sell for 60% the store price. 20:42 - I think Jared meant "half-animation"...they still dont reach the ground. This year feels like is was just CIG raking up money from all the 2023 hype; like this year was just a cash-cow year to see how many people would continue to dump money into the project with little to show for it. PU is still basically unplayable, (between "screens" not working when you walk up to them, falling through the map randomly, server crashes, multiple updates that make decorating your hangar basically useless since it'll have to be redone in a week, etc...), and, to me at least, dropping one of the ugliest and most bland ships I have ever seen in the Intrepid.
