Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.
I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. The ironclad really looks like the type of ship you could live in. You and your crew running missions or mining with ROCs or hauling cargo. Drake really nails the Firefly “Serenity” vibe that I want in a space game.

Ironclad is probably the best all-rounder ship, Cargo, pocket carrier, Salvage/Mining mothership, search rescue repair and so much more. The secure cargo room looks like an armory/brig to me . This is one of the most flexible ships, as far as gameplay loops. It's a Liberator on steroids and I just pulled the trigger on the Ironclad standard ed. w/1536 SCU ... That's a lot of Furys. I had a Galaxy W/Cargo mod. CCU from my Caterpillar that was the exact amount needed. I figured Armored and 1,500ish SCU, if I do several lucrative runs, Galaxy in no time. It's the same size as the Liberator or Galaxy, give or take a couple meters.

The general attraction of the cargo on this ship is not the amount of cargo you can shove in but the ease of loading and unloading. Not only is the cargo hold extremely accessible through the front but it is all /one/ cargo hold. It is not separated into pods or sections. That huge door on the top could quite literally allow you to toss crates in and the ship will catch it like an artificial net. I see large possibilities of this ship for many different things. I got the assault version because it seems like a mobile FOB for armored vehicles that could be deployed at a moment's notice and doubles as a planetside hauler for bulk material.

Man the ironclad looks amazing! Feels like it has a nice spot between the mobile base for a couple people the liberator represents and a cargo ship that can stand alone if needed. Its nook for a small vehicle bay also makes it so you can park a nursa to get a med bay for the ship without sacrificing cargo space, which is nice. Just FYI, the krakens, like the Idris and the javelin, are concierge only this ILW it seems. I at least don't get the option to even see whether they're sold out

I love how Drake advertises the Ironclad officially as a cargo ship, but they know their clients will see it as a surprise carrier, much like how the Caterpillar was used in lore to ram a ship and run off in the command module with the loot.

Looks like it would, depending on the placement of the roof support bars... would be kind of a shame if you couldn't fit it in there... protection and massive storage for long term travels. It would be cool if you can fuel transfer as well. All these kind of options are what made me decide on the liberator instead of the ironclad. For now anyways.

@@Kaiberus if it helps... a large scu box is 2.5m tall, and whilst artist impressions don't show any double stacked the base of the gantry appear to be around that height, with the base of the gantry being at the mid height of the cargo bay, so if your lucky you may be able to fit one on the centre line on cargo bay.

Ironically the Faterpillar may actually be good news for the Liberator. If CIG want to justify the Liberator's existence (and price tag) in a world where the Ironclad exists, I expect they will need to add some of the pilot accommodations or built in refuel capabilities that the Liberator imo should have always had.

One of the things people are really worried about for the Assault is the roof might not be retractable like it is in the base model, the brochure and the page don't say anything about the roof and the tractor beams are missing from it.

Definitly a fan of the Ironclad Assault as my new flagship. Being able to function as gunship, dropship, repair/rearm bay and cargo hauler. I do hope however the Assault does not lose the ability to open it's top roof as being a mobile snub base also seems like tons of fun.

With Drake, it's all love/hate. The paper tiger, glass cannon, no-frills thing is aesthetically pleasing to me, but makes me wish Argo and Anvil were putting out comparable workhorses to get the jobs done without the threat of being easy to blow up. All those extra guns 're only good when your wings don't pop off in the opening volley. And I want better than bare bones when I'm skinnin' hulls in a bumpy trash cluster! Still gotta admire the Mad Max-iness of their style though. Great stuff, Bored. Be well, folks! 😉👍

I really enjoyed Defensecon this year. I have a soft spot for Drake, I just love their rough around the edges aesthetic. I have taken a liking to the Cutter Rambler, I like having a little one man ship to wonder round and explore by myself now and then and do the odd box mission. I'm currently using an Aurora MR for that and it's not really ideal for box missions.

I love most of Drake ships designs ! The one that disappoint me the most being the Cutlass (I own the black variant), the front part past the lateral doors, it looks as weird as it is ugly, from the hideous cockpit glass shapes (the only ship on their lineup with ugly rounded features) and the canard-esque front wings or winglets look silly, undersized and unbalance the overall ship design, it could use some big thrusters there. One thing I wonder is about ships modularity. All of them, not just Drake's. CIG (to my understanding) said something a long time ago along the lines of all the ships actually sold are pre-equipped chassis which we will be able to customize with modules, and I can't wait to see it come to the verse but at the same time I fear they will stick with selling ship variants and call it a day. Recently, the release of the Retaliator with its modules gave me some hope, and I aaaaaabsolutely look forward to the day all ships get this feature so we can mix-match the hull's look with the interior features we like. I like to talk hahahaha so here are some examples of modularity I look forward : - I initially bought an Avenger Stalker but so far the lack of functionnality for the holding cells makes me beg for the day I can swap them for an empty cargo hold. - The Drake Cutter Rambler's hull is my favorite of the three Cutters in their lineup, because of it's twin tail at the rear and it's extra flood lights at the front, but I like the Scout's interior better, so I wish I could combine both, hopefully one day ! - Anvil's Valkyrie is super seducing but I could swap those two troop carrying areas for a single beds medical modules or extra cargo or else. A few other things could be improve in it's interior design but that's another topic. It could also use a deployable support weapon at the rear in the cargo bay just like the Cutlass Steel's one (it looks super cool). - Anvil Terrapin, after seeing the Drake Herald and Cutter Scout, I definitely find the Terrapin's interior to be ultra lackluster, instead of having a single seat in the middle of the whole floor, having scanning/data stations on the side and other hardware to make a better use of the available space would have improved the ship a lot more. - Anvil Carrack, the two cargo holds come to mind of course, as well as a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge part of the interior design is just a waste of available space, so a full rework and modules are more than welcome ! ... yeah I still believe in Santa hahaha !

For the fact the Ironclad is a cargo ship with only 1500ish cargo, they're asking a lot of money for it, only a little bit more and you have a Hull-C, I mean sure it is at least secured inside, but I do wonder if it's a little bit too expensive since Drake is usally a lot cheaper. Either way, thanks for the vid BG, keep up the great work.

The Ironclad came in at much less of a price point than I was expecting. Even the assault version is less in price compared to the Liberator. Now, I have some thinking to do since I have an upgrade to a Liberator in my account.

I want the Liberator to play Cowboy Bebop with my friends, but that Ironclad is damn close.
