In this video i take a closer look at the newly released cutter scout from drake interplanetry.
This ship will have some advantages over the base version in terms of potential gameplay loops.
The cutter was drakes most sucsseful and fastest selling ship for good reason. Although there is not much to do with scanning ships in game atm , im certain the Scout will prove its worth in the future.

The Cutter Scout a greast entry level scanning ship which im certain will be very useful in any size fleet in the future. Cant wait to fit s2 lasers on gimbals when that comes in. Its larger capacity for shoots over the Cutter and the scanner make this a better option. Also, for some reason it flies better that the standard

What do you think of a doubled up caterpillar ship? I’m thinking it’d look a bit like the Mons Olympus from COD infinity war.

It is an interesting ship indeed. Very different than the Terrapin, and I think you're smart to future proof. Oddly enough, I also have an Odyssey and did the same thing. The footprint of the Terrapin vs Cutter is nearly the same, too, so no downside in running either in terms of what else we may fit in the hangar. We are going to have good options! For the Scout in particular, I really like the multi-role nature of it that you touched on. Great overview as always! I chose to pick one up so I could run supplies to a team on the surface of a planet/moon from the "mothership": this serves a very functional purpose the Terrapin and Tracker cannot fulfill. It may come to the point where big ships that land/need to leave atmo may use a lot more fuel, plus extra component wear and tear (which matters far from home). Most important of all, it puts a large ship like the Odyssey at risk if it needs to break atmo to QT away in an emergency. Ground team needs a supply run: no problem, send the Cutter down. Additionally, the Scout could aid in a ground-based recon effort. Imagine loading a really small vehicle like a Ranger on it. I could see myself using it to get close to areas with stronger air defenses. Once I get there, I could deploy the Ranger to get myself closer on the ground to eventually reconnoiter the area on foot. Vehicle capability, even a small one, is useful to have depending on mission profile.

A ranger / cutter combo would be amazing. Excellent shout! Very useful in alot of scenarios.

@@PIN-o7 Thanks PIN. :) I think the Ranger should be narrow enough in the back that we can get in and out of the ship easily and still stand to activate the scanner station.

Because of it's large radar and VTOL, and once persistent custom markers are added, this thing is going to be great going around planet-side scanning rocks for a mining operation.

Watching this made me pledge for the LTI + Skin variant...my bank says no, my Citizen Soul says yes. The cutter and it's variants have a special place for me as starters.

@@PIN-o7 I will, it's a great runaround I keep going too but have a tendency to swap for the 135c or the Mustang Alpha. Love the small nippy ships when I'm wanting to do smaller tasks instead of the nomad etc

having a scout is useful because it has a FOXFIRE Quantum drive which goes RIGHT in my Gliave so i can reach microtech from Crusader without refueling.

Cool little ships but then again how long will people be flying starter ships. Lets risk life and death of a spaceman in a even smaller can instead of a terraphin. Myself i was thinking about a Super hornet with the scanning disk if anything, after the interesting news about the LT insurance, i probally go for bigger hulls, i do like the drake-ish.

I think the armor once in game on Cutters will pleasantly surprise people. Why else provide armored windows you can open and close?

If I am going to engage in the most horrifically boring and terrible gameplay loop that CIG has yet to devise (Remote manned listening post - fucking really?) I'd rather have a Cutter over a Terrapin every single day. Yaknow why? I can stand up, log out and spend a few hours in the real world regaining sanity if I have a Cutter. With a Terrapin im either stuck there or have to exfil before I can log out.
