As a relatively experienced player coming from elite myself I can say you chose to spawn on one of the 3 hardest places to navigate, Port Olisar used to be the default and it's a small space station so far easier to navigate and none of the no-fly zones you encounter on most planetary stations. With that aside though now you're in Lorville the way to leave is to just go straight up at at least 70-80 degrees and you should easily avoid the spontaneous combustion, also you don't need to go through all the menus to contact the landing services they are default on your leftmost MFD and you can call them by just holding F and clicking the hail button. It was fun seeing someone else experience the game as I did for the first time and I can't wait to see if you give it another go.

Combat is intense and fun and challenging, with the added bonus of the occasional random ship explosion. There is a lot in this game you just won't find elsewhere, mostly the combo of good FPS gameplay and good space sim gameplay, literally disable a ship and then board it and shoot up the place :D That said, many, many games do either of those things much better. I don't care for Elite:Dangerous, myself, but it is a solid space sim and obviously plays much more stable than SC. I don't blame anyone for not handling the bugs. I just started playing this game a few days ago myself... But my experience was very different. I spawned at PO, a big ship i dont know the name decided to ram me on the pad while I was figuring out the controls. My ship got bugged because of it. I had to Spawn the Freelancer since I could no longer use or recall my Avenger. Got to another station to recall my Avenger (its a fix). A guy was nice and showed me the ropes of mining in caves, and some combat in his turrets. Then I got stuck in Lorville, the spaceport was bugged because of the ''wind'' pushing my ships into walls. The next day I was still bugged in Lorville because the trains were bugged I could not reach the spaceport anymore. That mixed with exploding in the air randomly and 10+ other bugs and crashes, I quickly uninstalled the game. I know I can reset my character from the website. But It was too annoying an experience. The duplicate trains bug is a server side issue, swapping server by quiting to menu is a quick fix. Evocati is reporting that they've practically removed the wind around the spaceports themselves to stop that. It really is annoying, even more so if you're trying to fly in with expensive cargo. I'd say try it again during fleet week, and avoid Hurston as a whole.

But I made about 90k so far going in mines mining rocks in about 4-5 trips. (I started at 5k). The game is fun, when everything works, its just a bit frustrating when you travel somewhere start doing something and it crash and then you don't even respawn in your ship but all the way back to the station. And you need to claim your ship on top of that (when it works).

Not calling you a liar or anything, but the Redeemer isn't in the game so...yeah. Maybe you mean a Reclaimer? The big salvage ship? EDIT: Either way, I'd give it another try tomorrow. The 3.9.1 patch is going to fix a LOT of bugs in 3.9.0 (including the excessive wind) and during Fleet Week there will be several ships you can rent and fly for free. If you're ever gonna try it again, the next week starting tomorrow is the time.

Really good video D2EA! I enjoyed watching your ED videos back when I was playing that and it's good to see a familiar face trying out Star Citizen! As a few people have pointed out, you picked one of the toughest starting locations in the game and I bet your experience would be a whole lot different if you picked Microtech - New Babbage instead. This game does really require one to go through the beginner's guides that are available in the game launcher under FAQ as they cover everything you need to get started and enjoy the game quickly. It's so easy to make mistakes, die and have to start over which is why it's important for anyone starting out in this game to take the time to read the guides and watch the videos that CIG themselves have put out. Hope you aren't discouraged and look forward to seeing you around in the verse!

Elite and SC started their "previews" at the same time, in 2014. It's amazing how far Elite has gone. It launched, for all intents and purposes, a complete game. It just didn't tell you, at the time, where to go, how to fly, what to do etc. But FDev did push out a load of KZbin based tutorials, which now is no longer needed, since the game starts you in a starter system and has a refined tutorial system. A sort of newbie area that experienced players are permit locked out of, in order to prevent griefers from harassing the new blood. A brilliant idea. The only thing Elite needs? To complete the SC experience? Is space legs. That's it. We've already had SRVs, really large ships, the Xeno (aliens), and an entire 1:1 recreation of our galaxy and a pretty solid mission system since launch. Well, aliens came 2 years later, but still. Legs are rumoured to be appearing, possibly, by 2021, with the New Era update...in going off of some of the FDev teased internal powerplant/ ship pictures. But that's speculation. I'm afraid once legs do come? It will be light years ahead of SC. Pun intended. I mean for all intents and purposes FDev has had their sh** together. At least by comparison. Sure, FDev has delayed carriers and other content by 3 years, which we're now only just getting, but they've had a fully functioning title since preview. Elite launched in a preview state that was a almost 100 times more refined and complete than SCs current Alpha even. Sure SC launched with space legs, but at what cost? Not having more than one system to explore? Not having a smooth and reliable mission system? Regular progress wipes? Elite players have had the same funds, unlocks, content and all ranking and reputation progress since day one. Meaning, unless there was some unimaginably game breaking bug? Nobody lost progress. Sure, people got bored of the experiences, like exploring and doing the same mission types, but that happens in any game. There was always at least an ecosystem, reputation system, naval rank, combat, trade and exploration levels, mining etc.

It also used to start you at port olisar as a new player wich was a much easier splace to do your first steps since it was a simple space station. EvE Online tried to have station walking, it was a massive failure. Elite Dangerous has an amazing character creator, but as of yet you cannot walk around and exit your ship, walk in stations etc. No Mans sky has it, but it isn't exactly a "sim". You get in you ship, take off with a single button. Easy peasy. No hardcore or realistic option/mode for that game. Star Citizen might be the first to accomplish this if it ever works. I have high hopes for the game, but I have no P.C. that could run it. They have so many ships, ship boarding, fps combat.. But will the game have content? A story? Lore?

Well you have until the games release in 2052 to get a PC that can run the game.
@MKhrome4 жыл бұрын
The reason why EVE's station walking was a failure was because CCP is a shit developer. Elite is getting spacelegs in early 2021 with the new expansion if the info we got is correct (with ~100 developers). NMS is made by a team of 25 people, so that it's even compared to a game with 300m funding and 500 developers is a pretty big compliment to them :) Star Citizen's window of opportunity is closing very, very quickly. It'll look very bad on CIG if multiple other games 'get there first'. CIG is IMHO focusing too much on details and selling JPEG's, they should have had a vertical gameplay slice of the entire planned game 3-4 years ago already. Roberts is way too engrossed in his hollywood fantasy.

Mining mechanics have potential but for some reason are not fully implemented.Quantum travel, equivalent of FSD mechanics in Elite is just stupid simple. Overheating mechanic is dogshit.Despite what CIG claims the game is shallow and lacks content. The roadmap gets gutted all the time, so no reason to check it. Once we can put hundreds or even thousands of players on the same instance, and have object permanence across the entire universe on every server (you'll be able to drop a cup in a forest, fly away, and someone else could find it where you left it months or even years later) the game will be (in my opinion) incredible. Haven't gotten back to it yet, but I can see potential here, but man is it ever rough. There is so many key bits still missing, so many half broken game systems, even just in the first session, the new player experience. This is a game that despite all these years I'd say is still a LONG way from finished.

It seems so organic to have actual signs and transport to get to places, rather than some waypoint or NPC you have to follow.

Id love to see you play more of this, was interesting to see you figuring things out and your thoughts on the matter.
